Dalai Lama, your words are truly inspirational!! Such great help in times when ignorance and ego are at an all time high. I cannot thank you enough. Bringing the tools to find inner peace, contentment and happiness to the world. Truly grateful.
I've looked through the comments here and found a few negative ones. Why the hate for the video, he's such a kind and compassionate person, how could you dislike him?
Matias I believe Tibetan Buddhism is very unique and his holiness is considered a heritic to some schools of Buddhism , however I have it is so much more , beautiful school of Buddhism I encourage you to read the historical Tibet and how Buddhism cane to this last peaceful people on earth , truly China new this and wanted to rub out this wonderful tradition of the middle way 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Ofcourse modern Buddhism adopts the cultures of each individual nation, thats the brilliant thing about buddhism. The Buddha did not want people to be orthodox, he wanted them to be passionate as a starting point, but not follow his every word and whim. Ajahn Chah, a very orthodox Thai Master says that all the schools of Buddhism are like approaching a city from the North, South, West or East - they all have the same destination. That destination is unchanged from the one the Buddha pointed to.
Buddhism led me to Gnosticism. Buddhism is really a preferable religion for everyone even if they are entitled to other religions. Because this religion speaks directly of what is important. All the fundamentals which leads to happiness, to Nirvana, eternal life, heaven, paradise, whatever one calls it. It is very practical and is less on symbolism compared to other religions which used symbolism to veil their meaning from the religious tyrants of their times. Buddhism speaks of almost everything which almost all of the great religions of the world speak in a very comprehensible way. It respects all religion and is one with other religion. Buddhism is a very important key of mine becoming a Gnostic. I highly recommend everyone who seeks spirituality and enlightenment to study Buddhism.
I'm an atheist, but I can still learn wisdom and seek to better myself. Stagnation is failure and to seek peace and simply listen is to grow and become better. Glad I took the time to read all that by the way. Thanks for sharing.
yes inner peace is essential.we must remember that and practice it daily.inner peace is happiness that depends on nothing.if you need it,grab it.it will serve you well.
Been a long day. Found out I've been betrayed beyond anything I've ever been through, by my own mother. But now I think I can forgive and calmly explain.
When he refers to enemies he means things like people next door who hate you. Criminals and people who commit crimes against humanity still must be stopped and punished whether you forgive them or not.
I find that both anger, and throwing a fit are both voluntary actions. I always dismiss those thoughts. Buddhism helps us avoid self sabotage. I thank you Your Holiness. I the more I learn the less matters. Kindness and Salvation are primary , I think we worry about to much minutiae. Buddhism has changed me though. I have little if any worry or anxiety. Truly Buddhism is the path to Happiness!
Some people who gives negative comment and discriminate Dalai Lama, this video it self answer them if you are smart enough to understand. Please get some global, geography education before speak up please.
But some enemies.. the more compassion u give , the more they take advantage of your kindness.. best to ignore , let go and project your compassion to other people who deserve it more...or even animals...
Its not hard to be compassionate toward enemy i think ...but very much if u got hurt by ur own people..... I really want to be ..but right now smwhat ....flooded with emotions ...hw cud i controll it. Its almost 10-15 year ..i tried to be helpfull, tried to be compassionate, n i knw ill do later too for my family ..but when i see myself in der eyes..i feel emptiness in my life ...i feel empty devoid of love from family friends ...n now these emotions r affecting my proffession too where i reached with lot of hurdles....is this is expectations which hurts?????..bt ..if u do alot...n at ur hard time u feel der is no one for you...i shud not get hurted ??? Ur voice, lord buddha's face gives me a reason to live ..otherwise i feel i m having no purpose...i wish i cud ask u my question. Trying to make myself positive, trying to be compassionate (unbiased) just trying to live meaningfull life for other people...hope it wll wrk sm day.
I've got no viable options left other than practicing this, but it's worth it. I love it when I just know, literally. There's not even a need for an explanation anymore, and besides it sounds kinda silly that you need a theory/philosophy and evidence for being human.
i agree anger creates irritation but expressing anger is important but it should understood for the right causes.....not all enemies can be dealt with non violence...let us not forget that dalai lama ran away to indiato protect himself..so even though it was non violent not everyone can runaway from there place
thats because there were no school during his age in Tibet and you should be appreciating him because he is 78 and nonenglishmen but stil knows quite better than other nonenglish speakers do...you should have gone to places like native Indians and Afghanisthan....
When we depend on approval of other, we put our happiness in others ... It's good to help people in need but people donot have limit of receiving, so first we must love ourself then give..... Compassion guided by wisdom is necessary,it gets necessary to speak up when others do wrong to u... I always forgive people but then they take u for granted so boundaries in life is necessary to have peaceful life... In today's world being kind as people for being meek...from now on I will not help everyone as it is exausting but will surely help people who r dere need of love n help... Setting boundaries, applying compassion with wisdom is must cause when we only give ,sometimes we become bitter towards others, so being authentic is necessity.. Practice from loving yourself ,then to pets, then to your enemy....
it is surely not pleasurable for health..... and good people never want anger becoz it it is toxic....but there are adversaries in this world who make u feel that way which when body and mind creates this emotions.......
SilentStream Oh man, you're right there. "...and then most important scientist went to medical centers - don't do it! Digging to realize for physical health. Deduced blood pressure you don't stress. These are much different Omaha."
So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
Exactly, if you go back to the original teachings, that is true buddhism. What buddhism is today, is societies adding in their own traditions. Just like other religions.
