    Little advice for the belt tensioner for those who are only doing it by themselves, remove the headlight and remove the bar, no completely but enaugh so you can lift it up and move it around. After that you will have more room to work from the top and get your key on the belt tensioner, and push at the same time in that pin. It takes 5 min to access it and save a lot of pain 👍

    For anyone wondering, if you don’t have the oem belt tensioner and it’s aftermarket. Most aftermarket have a 30mm wrench to release the belt tensioner.

    I didn't have a 1-3/16 (30mm) wrench, so I used a one foot piece of 1X2 wood and a floor jack and pushed the tensioner pulley wheel up to the point where I could put in the pin. The beauty of using a piece of wood is that I could file a depression in the end so it wouldn't slip of the pulley wheel.

    Great video. Thanks. I did purchase the tool on ebay. I was able to do it myself without removing the headlight assembly. really not that bad. The biggest pain was the inner fender skirt.

    Video was super helpful, Thank you :)
    Didn't have the special tool or the correct spanner so took the tension off with a 1/2" drive extension bar and a secondary floor jack. Also negated the need for a second person to push the pin :D

    first of all congratulation for the video is very well explained like many others your video.

    Just did one of these in the parking lot of a 7/11 sem elum. I did none of this in video. Accessed the tensioner from top with 1 3/16 modified wrench. Move headlight out of way. Finding correct belt was toughest part.

    Thanks for the video, it`s one of many that I am using after 3 mechanics gave up on troubleshooting my S and I have to rebuild from a box of bolts. I have to ask, why did you go from the bottom? Was much easier to release tension from the top while having access to the spring pin.

    Hello, and thanks for the explanation. It is clear and concise, and much appreciated. Are you aware of any years using a different size than the 13/16 for the tensioner? It's far too small for what appears to be on mine (pretty sure it's the right bolt- I see the pin, and it's in the same location as the video).

    What is the size of the belt on these cars?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  4 года назад

      +vincent lonbird Thanks for watching! We do not actually have the specs on the belt that was used in the video, but it should be fairly easy to figure out which one you need. There should be markings on the back of your belt to tell you which size it is. It will be formatted like xKxxx. The letter "x" will be a number. You can also call you local dealership with your VIN to find out which one you need! 1aauto.com

    What a nightmare design. If any of those screws or nuts / bolts rust up on the plastic wheel arch cover you are screwed. Talk about designed to fail.

    • @shannono.5835
      @shannono.5835 2 года назад +1

      Most of those things holding the wheel Arch cover are all plastic, the ones that aren't plastic are hardened steel and mine don't show any corrosion. To clarify your last statement, it's designed to be maintained at a shop.
