I actually prefer the older Leatherman tools. I edc a Gen 2 Wave that I slightly modified. I replaced the scissors with an awl since I always have a Vic Classic on my keychain. My best purchase of 2024 was the Olight Arkfeld Ultra. I love the UI, form factor and overall usefulness. A close second would be the Knipex Cobra XS pliers that I keep in my left front pocket. They accomplish things that my Wave just can’t do. I can’t really think of any purchases that I regret.
Great take. All of us fall victim to the consumer culture we live in, myself included, of course. We're always told (and often convinced) that there's something even better than what we have, even if what we have meets all of our needs, and that the shiny new object will make our lives better. It's a shame.
EDC is a journey, it's never easy to determine whether something will work for you until you get it in your hand. My closet is a testament to a lot of trial and error.
Great video! I’ve always been hesitant to try those mystery boxes for the same reasons mentioned in the video. Thanks for sharing what hasn’t worked I think we can all learn from each other.
The VE5 makes a decent in bag organizer. As long as you can either attach the handles to something, or the bag is small enough that the VE5 won't flip to the side/upside down. Keep the Obsidian for a couple of years, then sell it for double what you paid for it.
I kick myself for buying too much stuff over the last year but I always have something new to try out if I don’t have money for another one. Live and learn and that takes trying out new things to see what works for you I suppose.
At this point, I have enough edc stuff that I would really have to justify something either being a great deal/value or it would really have to be something interesting and innovative that fills a void or gap that I don’t have. I have plenty of fixed blades, folding blades, multitools, and miscellaneous edc tools that I would rather save my money for higher priority things in life.
Viperade VE5 is my EDC yeah it could be a bit better I tucked the handle & D Rings in the pocket just don't try to stuff a lot in it, it works for me yeah, Leatherman is declining last multi-tool I got was a Victorinox Swisstool not a fan of the NEW stuff my EDC is a a Victorinox Deluxe Tinker I like flashlights with batteries that can be changed either standard or rechargable, AA, AAA, 18650

Thanks for the heads up
You are not an idiot! Everybody gets sucked in to one degree or another. At least you can sell your Arc Obsidian for most of your money back.
They sold out, only 5000 made, he’s Gonna get way more than he paid

Don't do it.

Finally, an honest man. Thank you from Alabama!
I appreciate that!
