They look like they have some nice stores for Winter, that's a good thing.
Yes they do
I dont have the capacity to bee keep but I get to live vicariously through you and other youtube beekeepers keep up the great work. 🎉
Happy bees🐝🍯
Bee keeping my favorite job. I have already working since twenty year
Love your content! thank you for having such a steady camera and showing us a crisp view of the beebees
My pleasure.
Thanks for sharing 🤙
What that queen was doing was wild! I have never seen that before. Perhaps she didn't like the paint job and was hiding her head in shame! Making me wait until the end for the whayat hive - well played! Those robbers were following you around like you were driving the ice cream truck.
They look great!! I hope that they do well over the winter!!
Thanks
I'm rewatching because the wattles are all starting to flower in Central Victoria and the magpies are starting to nest also. Hoping that spring comes a bit early this year 🤞
Funny you say that. I heard a fledgling the other day while out walking.

U guys got winter down under
Only until tomorrow. :)
*realising i can watch beekeeping in australia once i put my UK bees to bed for winter 😊 yayy
@laightnightknits4358 that’s what I’m here for. :)
Spring started today.
In brown stringybark forest, having 5 heavy frames in the super before winter is not a bad idea.
I tried really diluted sugar syrup on my bees the other day. In a sprayer. And it worked. As an alternative to smoke
It is just a wasp in the UK 😅 we are in Europe 😊
European Hornets are like 3 times the size of a wasp!! And more orange.
The hornets don't give my bees much trouble. They will eat a bee but the bees just punch them straight in the face and they go away 😂
Wasps are the bane of any picnic. Even if you have a tiny bit of jam they just buzz around and annoy you. They had a bad year this year because it was so wet early on
Haha.
It’s like Chinese door in China is just food :)
Lols 😊
QUESTION::
CAN YOU TELL AN OLD QUEEN FROM A NEW ONE...??
ARE ROBBER BEES REGULAR BEES THAT ARE FROM SOME OTHER LOCATION?? CAN YOU EXPLANE WHAT ARE ROBBER BEES A& WHERE THEY COME FROM..
TY
Robber bees just come from other hives looking for easy food. Usually the hive has guard bees that make sure the wasps or different-smelling bees don't come in and steal the honey
Are there Australian wasps?
Yes. But these are European.
@@aussiebeekeepingyeah they look like our wasps. Are australian ones very different?
I always watch your videos and wonder how you go about getting access to the land? I’d like to get into bees but I worry being in suburbia I don’t have enough room.
It’s my uncles land. It can be difficult finding spots. Good luck
You can keep bees in suburbia. In fact they have a more diverse nectar source (flowering gardens), so might not get as severe a mid-summer dearth as some country spots. In Vic the hive numbers allowable for blocks are shown in the apiary code of practice (Google through agriculture.vic…
Less than 500 m2-> one hive max
500-1000 -> 2 hives max
1000-2000 -> 5 max
Btw everyone says ‘larvay’, and ‘pupay’, but just like in encyclopaedia, Julius Caesar, and paediatrician - it’s actually ‘larvee’ and ‘Pupee’.
I think some people put bees on the roof terrace in urban/suburban places...
Have you been back in yet?
I've watched a few of your videos. You look at a brood frame that I would consider awful and call it great brood. What am I missing?
Positivity and previous seasons.
I’m curious as to why you don’t use foundation. Wouldn’t your bees be more productive with foundation?
It all stems from 2 bad years and a lack of wax to make foundation.
What is foundation? I was thinking that it was a base for the box?
Sorry I don't really know much about bees. 🤓🤓
Lol I figured it out... 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ 🤦♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣
Foundation is for the beekeeper, not the bees. It doesn't give them a head start and may do the opposite. It encourages them to put worker brood in the brood box instead of drone brood. That is about it.
@@rtxhoneybees…not entirely correct , when wax foundation sheets are put in if the bees need to build they draw out the wax sheets much much faster than if they had to start from scratch building comb so not entirely for the bee keeper but also helps the bees recover their hive much faster , strong colonies will do much better than mediocre colonies so build them up quicker with foundation , just my 2 cents worth.
Why you do not say what is today? Is it April, May or June? Was it difficult to say or provide in the description?
