Put them on the radio in the bus driver area to start the story. Otherwise you'll be stuck in this loop forever and the game gets harder with every passing in-game day. (more zombies, less loot) This is probably the most fleshed out VR game to date, and it's a joy to play through! ;) If you ever forget what the story wants you to do, check out the journal quest page.

That is not Story, that's just lore, he can progress in the Story if he gets the mic and the antenna from the Shallows in the Blue House, get the radio fixed and tune in to the right station. Also the Batterie should be in the bus.

If you look in your diary, I noticed on the first episode you had a mission to fix the radio. I think you're supposed to track down this woman and her kid that your friend at the start told you about. That's just my theory though 🤷🏻♀️
To be fair, my first time playing I also ended up drinking stuff and eating stuff. You lose health, sure, but you gain stamina! Turns out, getting/making medicine is A LOT harder than getting/making food, so to sacrifice max health for max stamina is just not wise unless maybe you're literally starving and can't effectively run or fight. To run or fight or climb requires stamina. Probably better to sacrifice maximum health and get a little bit sick, but still be able to fight and run, than to have good max health but struggle to fight or run due to starvation. Making food a priority seems important early on. Protein, sugar, spice, water, stuff like that. Ought to be obvious I suppose, but it's easy to get distracted by the ultra-important upgrade components like workable metal and wood scraps and 'nuts and bolts.'

little does jack know its unlikely that bigger studios would do this for now, its too risky to do an entire open-world game in vr with super high textures and graphics considering theres still a large majority who dont have vr headsets, and leaving the choice to be able to play both with and without headset is a nightmare in development
If a game wants to tell a story, then the game should tell the damn story. The problem with games these days, at least games after the Souls series of games are fucking LAZY with story telling. They just plop random ass information on notes and expect the player to piece that shit together themselves, and it's stupid. Stop asking more of your players to tell your story FOR you. Poor and lazy game design at it's finest. It's not our jobs to do your job for you.

In case you didn’t know, the game actually has voice detection, so shouting five feet away from the zombies ISN’T a good idea...
I think you have to enable voice detection. As far as i know it isn't enabled by default.
Plus he tested it more than once, but I think it would be sick if he turned it on eventually. Maybe after finishing the game the first time do a "hardcore" run with the voice detection on.

little does jack know its unlikely that bigger studios would do this for now, its too risky to do an entire open-world game in vr with super high textures and graphics considering theres still a large majority who dont have vr headsets, and leaving the choice to be able to play both with and without headset is a nightmare in development

If a game wants to tell a story, then the game should tell the damn story. The problem with games these days, at least games after the Souls series of games are fucking LAZY with story telling. They just plop random ass information on notes and expect the player to piece that shit together themselves, and it's stupid. Stop asking more of your players to tell your story FOR you. Poor and lazy game design at it's finest. It's not our jobs to do your job for you.
Or play good games and not the outer worlds for your 7 subscribers which are probably your family members.
