I used first person mode ALL the time in this game! Not for combat, because I don't hate myself, but when I was just exploring the world, it adds so much immersion to the experience. Everything is just so huge when you do it!
You see it actually makes thematic sense sense for Riki to face off against Dickson, his weapon in phase 1 is very similar to Kino’s gunberry in Future Connected, what is this “backstory with Shulk and Dunban” you speak of?

You know I wasn't really feeling this new Halo Infinite campaign when I saw the announcement, but after being there for the streams I gotta say setting it on 2 titans works surprisingly well. Good on Microsoft for giving you early access. I can't wait for it to release on April 1st 2023
No way!! 2 years ago I made a video titled “why you should try Xenoblade Chronicles and in first person” - it was only a short and easy video to make, but I massively loved the extra perspective (hah) that the mode gave you as you looked at the game in an entirely new way. So this kind of video is so damn awesome for me to see!
Yeah, when I played in this manner, I tended to add what I call "the Samus strat" when in battle. Meaning, I would press whatever camera centering button combination I had to to essentially "lock-on" to the enemy. It did not take me out of first-person view at all. Oh, and I did it without a New Game + mode, so it was probably far more time consuming for me.
The true Metroid Prime experience right there. Yeah, I honestly knew that I wouldn't have the patience to do a regular, non-NG+ playthrough of this, so kudos to you for sticking that out.
Dude! Loved the playthrough of Haloblade, wouldn't mind more of these 'challenge runs'! Also, frontier Village in NP (Nopon-person) is very fun to see the details like how the pollen is created, transported and collected. Thank you for the great video :D
Thank you so much and agreed! One thing we noticed was how HUGE Riki’s house is, which makes sense because of all his kids. The house even extends downwards below the platform, so Riki was loaded at one point.
I just finished Octopath recently so I appreciate the use of the music :p Didn't think the game was amazing but the music and graphics were great and the fights were kinda fun

Agreed and also happy that DE allows you to get rid of practically all of the HUD elements outside of battle too, so you can take some great screenshots.

Excellent! I love stupid challenge runs. I did a "shulkless" NG run as far as it's possible, definitely scary to not have the Monado for some fights (Makna Forest Telethia was AWFUL). I wish you could take out party members during segments where you only have 3 or less people, otherwise I would have probably had some more interesting experiences early on.
@@KayJulers Yeah the first telethia fight on the beach was nasty, had to just beef up Shulk as much as possible and wait for the mind read to wear off. Turns out the Makna boss fight Telethia has insane regen, but you can use Mind Blast and then go ham on a Melia chain attack. It's a lot easier after those fights though! I think you could do it, you've beaten the superbosses, right? I still get stuck on those...
Have been doing this on my current 100% run and I've seen so many cool details I never noticed before! 😁 Once you get used to it, I honestly think it's pretty well playable :)

So this reminds me, I just preordained Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and a VR headset, and I'll be picking them up on the same day. It would hecking neat, seeing majestic Xenoblade areas in VR, but alas, it is not to be.
Congrats! My challenge is beating the game with spike damage lol. I was able to lvl 99 at chapter 7 before getting riki & then having some early powerful gear etc early on when I went to back track to fight immovable Gonzalez & Territoral Robert etc. Definitely take that challenge as it was one heck of a good time becoming very powerful early on. I hope to find spike damage in XB3 to see if I can max early on.
I beat the Lorithia fight using Dunban, Reyn, and Riki. I actually played as Dunban and just chipped down Lorithia's HP while Reyn and Riki supported each other and drew aggro from the summoned elementals. It did take a very long time though since I wasn't dealing much damage.
Tbh the first time I played Xenoblade it was DE and I played the first fight with Reyn and Shulk, put the camera in first person, and then put the game down for a few months When I started playing again I didn’t think anything of it and didn’t realize until the mechonis you could adjust the camera lmaoooo

You can do this with xenoblade X as well, you just won’t see the weapons (and can’t use skells lol) Also make sure to set your camera height to align with your head, because at that point you really understand how massive literally everything on mira is

You know what's funny it might be strange but xenoblade and other JRPGs usually make feel more immersed. Not necessarily as the characters but I feel the environments and adventures they go on. In Xenoblade I was enchanted by the environment and felt idk weirdly immersed in it. The environments felt alive to me.. In dragon quest I always get the feeling of like being on an adventure. I can never really relate to self-inserting into a game.
I haven't played Ethrian Odyssey but I guess this how it could be in open world. (I mean the fantasy world, monsters and so) The SAO games even have a button for first person view. I didn't used it more than few seconds in battle because it has the same problems with this.
i know you probably said it for the introduction but saying that isn't immersive is just wrong lmfao. just the music alone makes me feel like im walking on a leg, not many games can do that!
Couldn't you die to M71 by "running" but staying in attack range? Running would have stopped the healing! (I'm still watching, so if this gets addressed later... Wooo!)
We actually did try that strategy at one point, but for some reason it still couldn't kill us. I gave it a good few minutes, so that probably would've fallen between Plans F and Q.
Since you were essentially unkillable due to Sharla, couldn't you have beaten the M71 by simply casting Speed? From watching the footage, you were able to slowly obtain Talent Gauge so you would have been able to cast Speed then use that to start damaging the M71. It might have been extremely slow, but wouldn't that have been possible? Also Riki is the most overpowered character throughout the majority of the story. Choosing not to use him is blasphemy.
We tried, but it still couldn’t kill us for some reason! My assumption is Sharla had all the aggro from her constant heals and cause I couldn’t hit the Mechon. That was Plan K, which stood for Kill Me Please.
I'm not gonna lie, but I kinda feel like the point of xenoblade is NOT to be immersed. Based on the story, I mean (won't spell it out bc spoilers but you know what I mean)
Now I don't give a shit about this game _especially since Xenoblade 3 is coming out before breath of the wild 2_ but beating a massive open world game in first person sounds epic so I will watch this video.

Shouldn't chain attacks technically be banned as it's a gameplay section that zooms the camera out?
This was something we actually did talk about briefly in the Tephra Cave area, but I shot it down because I needed my chain attacks LOL
Also akin to Halo, assassinations in the halo games bring you to third person, so consider the chain attacks as assassinations?

Wow that sounds fun, but also absurdly hard. I don't think I could've pulled that off with how much I use some of the arts like Purge and Shield.
When it's just Shulk and Reyn, you could have just made it so Shulk doesn't attack. There is a down arrow on the D-Pad.

The Shulk Sword is capable of slaying god and the very mechanics of New Game+
I tried a bit of this for fun in XC3 and lemme tell you, using FMJ makes it feel like a vr shooter

For the Mechon M71 fight, couldn't you have just ordered Sharla to come to you and not do anything? Or does that force you to zoom in?

Couldn't you die to M71 by "running" but staying in attack range?
Running would have stopped the healing!

We actually did try that strategy at one point, but for some reason it still couldn't kill us. I gave it a good few minutes, so that probably would've fallen between Plans F and Q.
I've tried playing it in first person before but the FOV is just too low to justify it.
Since you were essentially unkillable due to Sharla, couldn't you have beaten the M71 by simply casting Speed? From watching the footage, you were able to slowly obtain Talent Gauge so you would have been able to cast Speed then use that to start damaging the M71. It might have been extremely slow, but wouldn't that have been possible?
Also Riki is the most overpowered character throughout the majority of the story. Choosing not to use him is blasphemy.

We tried, but it still couldn’t kill us for some reason! My assumption is Sharla had all the aggro from her constant heals and cause I couldn’t hit the Mechon. That was Plan K, which stood for Kill Me Please.

I'm not gonna lie, but I kinda feel like the point of xenoblade is NOT to be immersed. Based on the story, I mean (won't spell it out bc spoilers but you know what I mean)

So you made the game easy just to cut "hours of grinding" that only take place at the end of the game. And it only created more problems. Okay.

Now I don't give a shit about this game _especially since Xenoblade 3 is coming out before breath of the wild 2_ but beating a massive open world game in first person sounds epic so I will watch this video.
