Dances With Wolves is a terrific movie, but there was another similar type movie in the early 70's called "A Man Called Horse" starring Richard Harris. Definitely worth watching!
What really made this movie totally awesome was the music, the cinematography and the awesome very real Native American cast members who were so authentic. Character development was very engaging. And so who really is this guy that wrote the script...who comes out of nowhere?
I used to like that movie. Then, as part of my work I lived in native villages for a few years. No, I understand storytelling, but no noblity in that culture. None whatsoever.

The scene when Graham Greene asks Kevin how many white Men there were. Kevin says… as many blades of grass … as many as the stars in the sky. Graham’s expression was Oscar worthy. A truly magnificent film.
Actually it’s poor writing. At that time in History the natives of the Americas had already fought wars with, against and were ally’s with the British and French. They had traveled to Europe. They would be well aware of how many Europeans there were in the world. Also Greene’s character never would have referred to their land as a “country,”

Dances with wolves is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It came out just after my father passed away which saddens me as I know he would have loved it too.
One of the greatest sagas to this day. Still watch it and still love it. Costner nailed that role as well as the supporting cast. We all know the rest of the story, so it really doesn’t have a happy ending, but as a movie I gave it a happy ending in my mind. 😢
Thats a smart move. It's one of my favorite movies. Read the scripts, you never know what gem you skipped over if you done. Some of them May be the perfect script for some of your friends that you can direct them in.

If I wasn’t hooked the line “wonder why he’d don’t write” sealed the deal for me!! In my humble never wrong opinion, Dancing with wolves is amongst the greatest movies ever made!! Seriously, it’s a great movie depicting a much different time in America.
That was the first movie I ever saw in a theatre. I remember guzzling my drink and popcorn and holding my having to go to the bathroom for the last two hours of s three hours movie lol
I’m met Michael Blake a few years after the film adaptation of his book came out. We were both working on the same film production I can’t recall what it was at the time they all sort of order together. He gave me a copy of his book airman Mortensen and we talked mostly about the wild mustangs he was adopting, one of whom became the title of his book on the topic. Super nice guy, naturally people with great minds like him are the ones to end up washing dishes in a Chinese restaurant, I totally understand that… After winning my own Emmy award a few years later I found myself working for two dollars an hour with a big traveling circus. We do things we have to do we do things that put us through life school, If we survive it we are a bit stronger and we certainly end up with great stories to tell. Maybe that’s what it’s all about there is no destination it truly is just this journey we are on, individually and collectively. HM, Northern Exposure alumni
"Dances With Wolves" was , (sadly),. the first movie to ever show Native Americans as normal Human Beings.... amazing story. Amazing cast.and direction.
I loved the story. It was gritty from the time you took the responsibility to clean the pond and the rest of the station. The curiosity of both sides to the actions of the other. The pure respect of a culture so entwined with the land. The unexpected "rescue" of the woman who was taken as a girl and integrated into the tribe. The sprawling panoramic views of the country. It had elements of "Billy Jack" on one hand and "The Revanant" on the other. The inevitable is sad history. I am glad YOU were in it. Who else can tell the story like you did, at the age you were, and the experience in telling this type of story.
I wonder how much the writer was compensated for these epic and successful stories? He died in 2015 worth just shy of a million bucks. Thanks Kev, my fren

I know shorts are supposed to be short, but this was too short. We want to see more of the reaction after the story's climax.
I I had some issues with depression and when Dances with Wolves came out I think I washed it 27 times
