Yes, you actually missed the pyromancer NPC, you got that right. You're supposed to already have obtained the pyromancy flame. He can be found in an area in the undead settlement you hadn't explored when you went through the area. Perhaps you wanna comb through there again. About that big third hit you mentioned you get on some enemies: I think what you're talking about is a poise break on enemies. They all have different poise values, of course so not every enemy can tank the same amount of abuse. However, when their poise does run out, they stagger and become open to a critical hit (like what you did to the bridge guardian in Irythil). The boreal valley, as in the areas after the catacombs, are probably my favourite part of the game. Very atmospheric and with interesting enemies to fight.
I figure out the pyromancy thing very soon so stay tuned. It took me a while 😂 the poise break makes sense now. I thought it was because of my weapon. My weapon probably isn’t strong enough to have a large effect on poise so that’s why. The boreal valley is neat! Reminds me a lot of Anor Londo from DS1, just really cold lol

Reminds you of Anor Londor eh? How interesting
It’s the architecture. Maybe it’s just the cathedral style frequently seen in the Souls series but that just feels like it’s related!
