I feel like everyone saying this song is just about spinning is missing the point. Double Lariat is about Luka spinning just as much as Rolling Girl is about Miku rolling. The lyrics each talk about those movements, but it's all symbolism. Personally, Double Lariat reminds me of Impostor's Syndrome, or the experience of a gifted child in school. The singer talks about how they are achieving great feats, but their peers make them feel like they're failing and could constantly do better. They know they're burning themself out, but they can't stop or they'd feel like a failure (or, in the context of Impostor's Syndrome, they feel like they'd be found out for "faking" their way to where they are now). At the end of the song, they realize they're already doing nothing but hurting themself, and simply hopes their friends will stay by their side when they finally tire of "spinning."
"Luka used Darkest Lariat!" "Luka's attack missed!" "And it missed again!" "And again!" "And she's... still missing!" "And... uh... Hey, should someone stop her?" "Hey, where's she flying off to? How is she even doing that?!" "..." "Luka has fled!"
These silly singing robots really touch my heart, huh? I just got done bawling my eyes out. I've never felt more connected to a song in my life. I used to always come back to this song when I felt like quitting everything (including my music that i deemed to be a "lame pipe dream" for a long time), but now that I've made it to where I want to be, it touches my heart in a way I didn't know it could. I've made it. I've wanted to quit so much, since all of my peers were so much better than me, but I've made it. I'm able to say that I'm proud of myself and what I do and there are tons of new opportunities opening up for me. I didn't think I could ever make it this far. The radius of 6300km is now a distance this hand can reach. And I am proud. The only thing I have to say to you is to never give up your dreams. It sounds cheezy, sure, but you have to believe in (not only the me that believes in you, but) yourself ALWAYS. If you want to, then spin around as much as you can until you can reach that 6300km and KEEP GOING; Heck, if you want to, then come back to this comment and let me know once you've made it. Someday, when you tire of spinning; I'll stay by your side.
My interpretation of the song: Luka spinning around is supposed to represent Luka chasing her dreams and in doing so, she pushes away all her friends and family in pursuit of her dream. Luka is aware of this because she says "please stay away from me" Luka knows that she might cause harm towards her loved ones so she distances herself from them. But Luka says "If I ever stop spinning can you be stay with me" Indicating that once her dream is over she wants to spend time with her loved ones and is worried that she might lose them.
Cameos! Miku - 0:24, with a guitar. Kaito - 0:45, with ice cream, gets beat up. Meiko - 1:43, beats up a guy. Rin(copter) - 2:25, Gackpo and Len - 2:50, in the city, Gackpo in an eggplant car and Len in underwear dancing with wheels as feet (?) (kinda blocked by lyrics). o.o Everybody =D - anywhere from about 3:09 to 3:19. Len, Rin, Luka, and Miku standing, Gackpo in his car, and Kaito carrying Meiko. There you go! Again, only on Nico.
First I thought of this as a great joke but heck you're right it's the first result Funny part is I burst into laughter when I looked it up and saw that it was, indeed, the first result.
I interpret this song as Luka wanting to be better and dedicating all of her time to doing better at everything she can, but she never thinks that she's good enough. This causes her to distance herself from the people who care about her, believing that she isn't good enough for them. At the end of the song, she sees the world and the people she once knew change and grow while she's still "spinning" and it makes her realize what she had done. When she realizes this, she says, "Someday, when I tire of spinning, please stay by my side," saying that she misses those people she once knew.
Me hearing this for the first time: Oh, what a beautiful song, I bet it's about love, night sky, or smh like that. This song: is literally about Luka spinning. Me: what
Literally when playing this on project diva I was like “I’m going to cry this is so beautiful I don’t know the lyrics but I bet they’re emotional” and then I find out it’s luka spinning
legit like i know im late to finding this song but i discovered it through project diva megamix and it sounded so deep and melancholic and then. i looked up the lyrics.
spinning is a metaphor for something you/luka/the producer really loves to do, but overindulging in it and the stress of friends doing it better than you leads to it being unenjoyable and a chore, and you have to rediscover why you enjoyed "spinning" in the first place without neglecting your friends
I like this song so much, it’s a small, bite-sized inspirational/motivational song about someone who has a metaphorical hobby, spinning (a.k.a singing, drawing, writing, cooking, dancing, etc.) the “radius of luka’s reach” increases each time she sings the chorus, representing the passage of time as she improves at spinning and briefly mentions the doubt she feels when her friends spin better than her, showing how much she cares about spinning and how much her hobby means to her and once she reaches such a godly reach of 6300km (finally becoming insanely fluent at her skill) she feels proud and wonders what her past self would think of her now, ‘reaching’ her dream. and on that note, she goes back to her origin, at a 85cm radius, reminding us where she started and maybe staying “humble”, idk, there is something wholesome about her becoming insanely talented but then reminding us that despite all her growth, she is still the same person, and she wants us by her side! So.. never give up on your hobby if you truly love it! Make it a skill! Become insanely talented by practicing as much as luka, and embrace luka by your side as you keep reaching to farther distances!
i just spent 50 dollars on a fuckin luka nendoroid just because they have the double lariat face/arms for it because i like this song so much god damn it
My view of the song: Well, I think "Luka's spinning" means the effort she puts to reach something. The unit of measurement that apears on the chorus (85cm, 250cm,etc.) keeps growing as the song goes on, and i think it means the way things are getting dificult "for her hand to reach", but she still "keeps spinning", at the point of leaving her loved ones behind. When she flies, she reaches what she wants to reach, and that's when she notices that she cant move on without her loved ones. So, she wants them to always stay with her until she "gets tired of spinning"
yeah I actually looked it up ;v; "--It's truely a good song that reminded us of one's life long aspiration to become master in our trades, even when we fail we must always get back up and keep fighting again. One's might get over shadowed by our peers around us who have always achieve farther and higher than us. Eventually, One's will be able to reach their goal in life; The 6300KM is the end of the journey for most of us (Do you know that 6300KM is the radius of this rock we are living on?) I
This song kinda reminds me of when artists cuts connection with the people close to them (friends, family ;etc) mainly because “so please don’t stay close to me” I feel that “spinning” is like a normal activity like drawing or making music. But like any normal activity, it can get overhand. Luka is forcing herself to work on a project, not talking to her family, friends, or fans. While she is doing this she compares herself with popular artists “my friends spins higher than me.” I also like to say that before luka was obsessed, it was a normal activity with her as she says “it was fun spinning and I wanted it to stay that way” but then she got obsessed “I couldn’t stop ” Luka finally wishes her family and friends were there to be by her side,”When I tire from spinning please stay by my side” And when she is done, she wants her family and friends not to let her get carried away like that. Maybe I’m overthinking but I know that some of us can relate to luka. Not her spinning but how she portrays it.
not really. it's more or less about someone constantly feeling inferior to those around them when those people are better than them at the one thing they are good at(this isnt a very good description tho sorry)
((I don't think it all if it was posted)) In other words, the world is your oysters and the sky is your only limit. Luka is reflecting of what she have did in the past that had made who she is today. As it have stated inside the video on the 23.4 degrees part because it too represent the orbital plane of our tiny little earth as it is tilted at exactly at 23.4 degrees too.
Had never heard this before this week but god damn it hits hard as a self taught artist. No matter how much I grow, it's hard to take pride in my skills or feel like they're worthwhile next to my peers. But when I step back I do think I'm probably doing things that would fill a younger me, the me who decided to learn to draw, with nothing but pride.
To me this song is about inferiority. Luka spins forever, and it's something she's good at. It's fun to her. She thinks it will bring good things. When people start to be better than her, she hangs back. The one thing ahe was so good at is now no longer hers alone. She tries desperately to escape, to expand her reach. Yet she forgets. Where she came from, where she started, why she started. At the title part, I think she falls. She sees reality, but chooses yo keep going. But she still wonders if she will be lived at inferior
its crazy how a computer program can produce such a great voice! one day the world will have virtual pop stars just like the vocaloid singers. one day.....
hello. this is a random person scrolling on youtube. and i just want to tell you it has been 10 years. but i hope your still living a good life! (also now we actually have singers with great voices! i know right? awesome!!!!)
My personal take on this song is that I relate it to autism spectrum (or aspergers which is what I have). People with this spectrum tend to enjoy spinning which helps them in many ways, it levels out our brain waves, or it could cheer us up, or decrease our stress levels in stressful situations. So she's constantly spinning as a symbolic way of saying she's trying to fit in and since spinning makes us feel normal that's why she tries to spin just as well as everyone else but finds that people seem to fit in better than her no matter what she tries so she copies her friends spinning methods. She tells people to stay away from her because as usual with people on this spectrum we only end up hurting others by mistake, quite often. She mentions each time the radius of how far she can reach getting longer because she feels like she's making progress with her attempts. She also states later that she feels she's reached her peak and asks if her younger self would be proud of her for it because people on the spectrum feel like they are forced to lie in order to act "normal", so would younger me be proud of me for being so deceiving? And then there's the point where she reaches to the top of the world which from my personal experience is how people on the spectrum feel like they're becoming so good at trying to fit in that they feel like they're beyond normal world values and thus making us abnormal again because we tried so hard to become normal that we possibly got better at everything than normal people. Finally when she goes back to reaching only 85cm again she realizes she hasn't exceeded at all and that she over thought her progress and everyone still thinks she's abnormal, so in the end she gives up on trying but asks if the people she loves will still accept her anyway.
Thank you~ I just recently got so interested in this song. Extrememly catchy! x3 I found it so much fun searching for the Vocaloids in this video XD Rin and Miku took the longest to find~ :] Haha, it's great that so many groups are translating these songs. This one especially; I've seen maybe 5 different subbing videos! :O But thank you, once again! :)
this song is how i feel about art. when i was younger and just starting, it was for fun, and i was mostly fine with the level i was at, it became part of me and i didn't stop, didn't know how to stop. i didn't like seeing people who were better than me, but i kept going. when i started actually caring about what i drew, and my improvement, and how much better other people are than me, it stops being as fun. even though art is more stressful for me now than it was when i was little, i think my younger self would be proud. 2:48 reminds me of moments when i see something so inspiring it makes me want to continue and get better, and makes me see what i do this for. and the ending is like how i want people to appreciate me for more than my art, and if i ever feel like i want to pause or stop, they'd still support me.
Wasn't the original song about singing ?... I mean even if you change it to spinning it still looks like a song about practicing your craft and being perpetually jealous of the people who are better than you.
pixelXXL This actually is the original and yes it is about spinning. As for the meaning it can have a crapton of interpretations. I personally see it as someone who is so singleminded about something and tries to improve themselves whenever someone better appears that they lose sight of what matters to them, and only realize once they reach the "World" (6300 km with a 23.4 angle).
just coming from Mitchie M's Seraphim On the Ring (cutie angels) and there's an easter egg where Meiko Throws Rin into Luka and the wrestling move is called Double Lariat 😂

"Spinning" is more used as a term for improving someone's craft here. She says her friends can spin better than her, that she wanted to give up, but she still continued to spin in vain despite being somewhat bad at it, but as the song continues she starts to spin better and better. Even wondering if her old self could see her now if she'd be impressed with how far she's come. Also, some people interpret her looking at her friends who spin better as her as being jealous, but I feel like it's more of feeling inadequate around people who are better than you are at your craft.
fun fact: this video was originally uploaded to nico as an swf file on flash, which meant that luka would keep spinning even if the video was paused. there were also certain easter eggs that would show up if the video was paused for long enough, like kaito getting punted into the sky

I like this song so much, it’s a small, bite-sized inspirational/motivational song about someone who has a metaphorical hobby, spinning (a.k.a singing, drawing, writing, cooking, dancing, etc.)
the “radius of luka’s reach” increases each time she sings the chorus, representing the passage of time as she improves at spinning
and briefly mentions the doubt she feels when her friends spin better than her, showing how much she cares about spinning and how much her hobby means to her
and once she reaches such a godly reach of 6300km (finally becoming insanely fluent at her skill) she feels proud and wonders what her past self would think of her now, ‘reaching’ her dream.
and on that note, she goes back to her origin, at a 85cm radius, reminding us where she started and maybe staying “humble”, idk, there is something wholesome about her becoming insanely talented but then reminding us that despite all her growth, she is still the same person, and she wants us by her side!

not really. it's more or less about someone constantly feeling inferior to those around them when those people are better than them at the one thing they are good at(this isnt a very good description tho sorry)

I just want to say I really love this take
Would’ve been great if you didn’t use the assburgers term
This has to be my favorite song that Luka sang XD
What about +Impale?
Thank you~ I just recently got so interested in this song. Extrememly catchy! x3
I found it so much fun searching for the Vocaloids in this video XD
Rin and Miku took the longest to find~ :]
Haha, it's great that so many groups are translating these songs. This one especially; I've seen maybe 5 different subbing videos! :O

I discovered this masterpiece today and I love how hilarious and deep it is.
I ♥Vocaloid!
I♥LUKA!
I finally found this song, I didn’t know it was Luka Megurine, I’m glad I got into vocaloid, my childhood 🥲❤️
like a record baby, right round, round, round,
This is the 10th tine i'm listening this in the past 24 hours
this song is how i feel about art. when i was younger and just starting, it was for fun, and i was mostly fine with the level i was at, it became part of me and i didn't stop, didn't know how to stop. i didn't like seeing people who were better than me, but i kept going. when i started actually caring about what i drew, and my improvement, and how much better other people are than me, it stops being as fun. even though art is more stressful for me now than it was when i was little, i think my younger self would be proud. 2:48 reminds me of moments when i see something so inspiring it makes me want to continue and get better, and makes me see what i do this for. and the ending is like how i want people to appreciate me for more than my art, and if i ever feel like i want to pause or stop, they'd still support me.
I came here after that really depressing mdzs animatic not expecting the og song to be this bubbly
I cannot believe I’ve found a Mo Dao Zu Shi fan under Luka’s Double Lariat
damn the bass in this song sounds so good
To think I used to have the .swf of this.... unfortunately long gone, along with everything else on that drive
yea this mv was the nightmare fuel for me when i was a kid
懐かしぃなぁあの頃に戻りたいなぁ( ; ; )
Wasn't the original song about singing ?...
I mean even if you change it to spinning it still looks like a song about practicing your craft and being perpetually jealous of the people who are better than you.
pixelXXL This actually is the original and yes it is about spinning. As for the meaning it can have a crapton of interpretations. I personally see it as someone who is so singleminded about something and tries to improve themselves whenever someone better appears that they lose sight of what matters to them, and only realize once they reach the "World" (6300 km with a 23.4 angle).
If you don't have enough machine power to watch videos in HD you should probably upgrade your atomic toaster.
gotta remember that in 2009 most videos were still 360p/240p at max
it did take a decent bit of machine power back then
I haven’t seen this video in soo long
You spin me right round, baby, right round.
Luka was born into Vocaloid with the least hideous eyes a pixel artist could muster
She's in Spain without the a 😔😢😢🙏
Appreciators of this work of art in 2022?
hello!
just coming from Mitchie M's Seraphim On the Ring (cutie angels) and there's an easter egg where Meiko Throws Rin into Luka and the wrestling move is called Double Lariat 😂
When i first found the song in PJSK i thought Luka was injured trying to find shelter, until then the meaning is just Luka spinning
One time I spun to the whole song. No break. I’m serious

If wowaka made this song, it would be called “Spinning Girl”
Why are there so many vocaloid songs about moving in a circle?
Because our lives are a cycle
Luka spinned so far that she forgot hw to stop
oh my god. so THATS the reference.
Who knew that a song about the Earth would be this legendary?
Lived... Laughed... LUKA OUT!!!! And EXPERIENCE THIS QUEEN SING AT #MIKUEXPO2024..... I CRIED I NEVER HEAD THIS SONG BEFORE IN MY LIFE .. I AM 28 YEARS OLD... Luka CAME out with when I was in middle school. 🤯🥺🥹
Zangief sings this before every fight.
Is this song literally about spinning? When I listened to it I thought it would be about something else, something sad.. But, NOPE! Spinning!
Bbasil it's actually kinda sad if you see behind the lines
it is sad. the spinning thing is a metaphor
