Good job, sir. I've been doing a lot of work on my backyard, mostly removing lots of rocks throughout and working on my compost. I'm going to mix 50/50 garden soil and compost that I've created from home scraps. Getting ready for hurricane season. John from Miami, Florida.
I'd did a bunch of yard renovations like this, completely restarted a few of them. Man it turned out absolutely great to. I need to get back into doing them
Just watched this again Shaun and TBH thought what a lot of hard work, well worth the work but to have to do that amount of work every day for a livings not easy, most would be exhausted after that and need a lot of time to recover yet you are just moving on from that onto another job perhaps the same day, well done.
Hi just seeded half my lawn ,had a small tree that died cause of poor soil and stones in the soil. Prepared the area filtered most of the stones out seeded and top soiled. Got a patch of green grass now ,When can i start to apply weed killer cause i have a few dandelions etc still in the lawn .Your channel has spurred me on to do more .Thanks
Fantastic as always and fair play to you for taking on ‘not ideal’ lawns. Out of interest do you manage to do much more work (I.e more customers lawns) after doing this? I imagine this is at least half a days work
Yeah its usually half a day, but when im filmingh it adds afew hours on - you wouldnt think it, but often runs to a full day when the camera is running - did one similar yesterday in 4 hours
I've just done a deep scarification on a really mossy lawn. It's left significant bare spots that I covered with grass seed. Grass is starting to come through but there are a number of weeds (dandelions) coming up all over the garden, especially in the bare spots. I couldn't afford to topdress the seed which might have suppressed the weeds but I did rake and press them in. Is there a product I can put on the lawn to surpress the weeds or is it a waiting game?
I decided to do my renovation in the Autumn (actually late summer in the North) and am concentrating on overseeing bare patches in the spring (or is it late Winter here) I had some ants where the lawn meets the path but after spraying with garlic solution a week back they seem to have gone. Going to apply this again in May and Sept to try and prevent insects laying eggs that develop into root-eating grubs. I’ve not been using a fertilizer when I overseed the patches. Should I do that after germination or not bother.
Hi you dont need to fertilise just keep the seeds damp as much as possible.. that's great feedback for the ants! Was it any particular product or just water and garlic granules
@@LawnRight I just peeled and crushed one whole garlic bulb (from Asda), added to a saucepan with water to boil for 5 minutes, then left to cool and stew overnight in a bucket in my garage. Then strained through a cloth and diluted to 4 litres and sprayed on my lawn (approx 100 square metres). I did the whole lawn, not just where I saw the ants. The lawn did smell afterwards but that went away after a few hours.
www.tudorenvironmental.co.uk/tudor-long-handled-leaf-grabbers-heavy-duty there you go..yeah it sticks more so when its damp I just go as careful as possible
Great job Shaun. Does it matter if I use different compost/ soil after overseeding as I have mixture of different bags available or is it best to use the same one
Thanks for the video! If you use a fleece to cover the seed, do you need to use compost top dressing too? Also you used hand seeding. Is a drop spreader better if you have one even for small areas?
This is one of those things that the more steps you do the better the results... fleece will stop heavy rain winds an dbirds so might be agood idea but ive not tried it
I moved into my new built house here in Ohio about 5 months ago, they seeded the back yard but its still pretty patchy. The soil is clay and is very rocky. I've pulled up most of the visible big rocks but, there are still tiny gravel like rocks all throughout the yard. My yard is about 3200sq ft so a lot bigger than the one in the video. Im not really sure how to go about removing these small rocks because I really want to seed soon. I've tried using a metal rake but the clay is so tough even the tiny rocks really dont budge. Any thoughts?
Ooh... not good.. maybe run a scarifier over and aerate to create a good seed bed and cover with a thin layer of compost, gypsum and apply humic acid regularly
You showed at the beginning a lot of different composts but decided to use the B&Q own brand!!!!! could you explain why you had Field No4 but didn't use it given you said the B&Q compost just clogs the spreader? Also not going to lie.... that lawn looked shocking and very hard work....how long did the front lawn take?
Hi.. field compost had a massive backlog so I couldn't get any more sohadtomakedo and just do my best for this one 😁.. think it was maybe 3 to 4 hours on the front
Hi its a good half to one days work so that should give an indication, it all comes down to the company doing it, earnings needed to pay all staff, overheads etc and then hopefully a little profit
There was a high risk of damaging the mechanical aerator and scarifier due to buried stones and concrete. Would you turn down jobs you are not happy with?

Excellent work bringing all your tools and skills to bear. Very nicely created video too with all the effects
😊😊
Good use of editing to identify tools as you mentioned them. Really helped. And great video too, appreciate the hardwork.🎉
Thanks 😊😊
I love a good yard renovation, it'll look really good in a few weeks of care
Thank Shaun no awkward questions from me you had your hands full on that job mate 🤝👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Anyone know a good middle of the range scarifier /aerator. Thanks
Hi.. 4 to 6 weeks at minimum.. most weedkillers state 3 to 6 months so I'd hold off till maybe mid october if u can then apply weedkiller
Well done sean hard work
Thanks Bobby
Thanks for your videos. The compost you use is only for the lawn or for other things in the garden as well. Greetings Tobias From Sweden 12:40
Hi they can be used most things thanks!
Another great video.
Thanks

Any reason for the bannerman over the landzie on this one haven't seen it for a while
I had it in the van from a previous job so just used it again ..aka couldn't be bothered to swap 🤣

@@LawnRight I think it will if I use it when the insects are laying their eggs. Thanks for the advice about not needing a pre-seed/high PK fertiliser.
Need a link to decent leaf grabbers! Do you never find the top dressing and seed sticks to your boots and takes the seed away from some areas?

Feel free mate.. its just to cover the seeds. I've done it before
Hi Shaun, finished scarifying, seeding and top dressing. How do you keep the pigeons and birds off ?😡😡
A garden fleece or something sparkly nearby will help
A good air rifle helps 🤣🤣🤣🤣 only joking

Hi, I’ve recently over seeded my lawn, scarified aerated and top dressed it and it’s starting to look good, how long
should I leave it before cutting.
Hi Peter typically it's about 3 to 4 weeks. Itll be ready.. just go steady when turning the mower and try not to cut too short
