I have been concentrating on my container gardening. With the help of my daughters and grandchildren (young adult) my Mother’s Day gifts were soil and starter plants to get my container garden planted. Also I had some plants ready to plant from seed to add in my container garden. Right now focus is taking care of the garden. Stocking up on food preps has been pancake mixes, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce working toward having a two month supply at a slow rate as we can.

My husband is home on paternity leave because we just had our third daughter. In May I tried to just stay topped off on the things that I prepped before baby was born. Also tried to keep my plant starts alive, I’m in zone 3 so trying to get my garden planted now.
We had a couple of our pigs butchered so our freezers are filled to the brim right now 🤩
Also stocked up on the Benadryl itch relief sticks, they’re priceless!

This month I refilled 25 lbs of rice and 25 lbs of flour to my preps 👍

"Too hot to freeze dry"......... I don't understand, please explain! Thank you.

It’s hot outside which makes the inside of my home hot, which makes the room that my freeze dryer is in extra hot, which makes the freeze dryer work harder to do its job. I have fans on it and in the room, as well as general air conditioning in the house, but it didn’t make a difference. I’d rather not ruin my machine by making it run in hot conditions. ✌️

Those vacuum pumps generate a lot of heat. That's one of the reasons many of them need an external source of oil.

Morgan, Getting my gardens planted slowly. Had a silent heart event 10 days ago. Docs are on it. I am planning to expand my water system w rain barrels under down spouts. Need to be circumspect as don't want to advertise it. Either to city or neighborhood. Lots of 'walkers' (scouts) due to medical facilities down street. SHYTF isn't going to wait on me or anyone. I believe time is of the essence. SHYTF is here, Now. Rogue did you move South again? From the 👍. Best

Well, today is the first day of a heatwave which should last most of week, each day getting progressively warmer. Like most homes here we don’t have AC because we don’t need it most of the year. We are doing the “open windows overnight and shut in morning with drawing shades closed to keep out heat” thing. Watching out for crazy grass & wildfires, & crazy people. Checking in on older neighbors during heatwave.

Usually Amazon. There are good sources on there. I’ve always gotten good green beans.
