- York University is Canada's 3rd largest university and was established in 1959 and held its first class in UofT in 1960. By 1965, the University opened up the Keele Campus where more than 50,000 students are enrolled.
The Milkman dropped by York's Keele campus to find out what post- secondary student life is really about. The students there were candid, direct and straight to the point. So whether you're a new student, current student, alumni, or thinking of enrolling; this guide's for you!

What is/was your experience at York University like?
high parking tickets, trash common areas, lots of pedophiles, lots of mad men coming to rob the place off of Jane and Finch, trash food (literally )-the pizza pizza backs into the female washroom, strikes....................list goes on
My professor got fired for calling a student the n word, someone dumped a bucket of poop on some poor soul, so many attempted human trafficking and random Asian scammers wandering around.
5th year and it’s been good:) but they need to renovate the campus. And plan to take your courses hella early because the classes fill up class

Istg every university I'm looking to apply to turns out to be shit according to their students! Which are some good universities then? Or are universities, in general, are shit?
lol what university you think about?
People with negative experiences are more likely to complain, and I think uni generally sucks for a lot of people because it's harder than high school. Every uni has its negative points, and people are always going to complain about those. Same goes for any career, as well. I'm just going to choose the one that'll make me successful, rather than the one that'll make me happiest while I'm there.
literally, every single uni i applied to ended up having the worst reviews
@@justgivemeonesec fr, i ended up appying to york and got in but all the other unis I applied to also have some or other negative things about it, so I'm having a really difficult time making college decisons😭
I had classes and exams 7-10pm at yorku, then I went to uoft and msb closed everything at like 5pm
This is really helpful because I’m starting to apply to these universities and I don’t know how campus life is or how school moral is

Does anyone have details on the filmmaking course??
I graduated in 1997 and I had a great experience. I lived on campus in Assiniboine about half the time. The only thing I regret is not networking more. I spent all my time studying. Having made more connections would have been useful. I graduated during a strike, so I didn't actually go to a commencement ceremony, which kind of sucked. I just ended up picking up my degree at the registar.
straight up don't come here.
Type1ne why lmao

Hey, you could do Carleton University also.Would like to know more the masters course in Journalism.

My entire degree for 4 years was all night school. All the classes were at night. I didnt know until I enrolled to my classes at the administration office 4 months before starting. Damnn... it was always dark when going to school and back home. No chance to meet with friends or hang out. No social life. It sucked.

Nun of em exposed the real yorku deets 😂🤫
Like what?
York University is something else 😩. You never graduate. They are expensive. Courses are hard to enrol in, because they are always full, or overlapping with other courses. OSAP is always late, and not to speak of how they forget to update the student’s files to the point where some loans were sent to collections. Strikes all the time. They never cancel classes, especially exams on a bad snowy day. Political fights all the times among the students ... Students get discriminated by other students due to religious background, and the school allows it 🤦🏻♀️. I transferred to Ryerson and I did so much better. The biggest mistake of my life is that I applied to York, and the second biggest mistake is that I didn’t transfer sooner. I am still paying for that mistake. Don’t go there...
I was accepted to ryerson but idk if I want to go, is it good in general?
Damn i thought it was great there

I’m deciding between York ryerson and uoft for philosophy. I’m trying to get to law school so I guess a easier school is better, which school are you attending?
@@silvo9460 I actually picked York in the end and I can say im pleased with the online semester as far as its been going. They have a Law school attached to them called Schulich (if im not mistaken) so it just seems like you'd have the better connection to law goin there too :)

Western university in London

do carleton u
York or Laurier? Someone please help me decide! Really for like student life! I’m from the u.s. btw!
I don't know if you've already made your decision but I would definitely say Laurier. Laurier actually has two campuses 1 in Brantford Ontario and one in Waterloo Ontario both of these cities are great. They're on the smaller side but I would definitely say safer and more homier. The surrounding cities are also nice. I'd say renting is cheaper there's more Greenery in Waterloo and Brantford.
York seems to be known as a trashy school that is unsafe and has an overall bad reputation. You can definitely go online and search on reddit on what has happened. But they have some unique programs and courses. The surrounding cities are big and have a lot of options for food and socialising but rent is hella expensive. Anyways Laurier all the way.
Why not try western instead of laurier

Just don’t do it.. you don’t feel safe and making friends is hard. Unless you are using it as a commuter school to save money it’s not worth it. I lived in two different residents and neither were good. I visited my friends at other universities and everyone’s doors would be open and people would visit and hangout. Not at York, not one open door. I will say for the most part the classes were super easy (easier than high school) in my first term but I dropped out after that as it just wasn’t for me.

Bennis Shakespeare which one did you get accepted into!
Aish Tuli both, but I chose York in the end
Bennis Shakespeare is it because the program was easier? I’m trying to figure out which program is better/easier
Aish Tuli I’m not Canadian so for me York offered more accessible bursaries since international student costs are higher. Also the programs are more less the same from what I saw but York’s got more to offer in terms or resources as I was told by my school’s counselling, otherwise they both real good in my opinion.
York or Ryerson for computer science? Someone help pls
I can't speak to the program. But location wise, definitely Ryerson! York is annoyingly far from downtown. Ryerson is in a location where everything happens :)

Tell me more please Before I apply to it
Meral Eldawlatly it’s really isolated, so there’s not much outside campus, and if you live on campus you feel even more lonely. Strikes happen very often and they can affect your studies, i didn’t experience one but I know so many people who did. The campus is kind of ugly lol and i usually don’t care much about reputation, but everyone trashed on York. They’re not wrong either lol but if all you care about is a good gpa and ur okay with being miserable for a few years, then it’s fine.
