Grandpa was Willie Nelson. He's a country legend and also on the pothead mount Rushmore next to Cheech and Chong and Snoop Dogg. That was a joint in the apple.
Snoop and Willie have done music together! One song is "My Medicine" and snoop also was on a song Willie did with Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard. So I'm pretty sure there was a weed cloud in the booth

I grew up watching Dukes of Hazzard the TV show... watched it so much I developed a Southern accent as a toddler, though I'm not Southern.

Also, as to why they're climbing out of the windows. In a cut scene for the movie, Cooter and his friends were fixing up the car and the doors were jammed. Since they were pressed for time, they just welded them shut. That's why in the movie before they leave Cooter's Place with the fixed up car he says "I didn't have time to fix everything".

It's nothing compared to the original. The original series is estimated to have destroyed over 300 cars during it's run in the 70s and 80s. Only about 17 cars used in the show are still around (in tact, anyways). The 69 Charger is extremely valuable and rare because of how many were destroyed throughout this franchise.

I remember seeing this in the theater. The sound, chase scenes, and stunt work are amazing!
Willie Nelson is the grandpa. He's amazing. One of the last real country singers that you can stand to listen to.
The reason they didn't use the doors is because back in the day you'd weld the doors shut because it's 1969 and there's no 2023 automated door locks that you activate from your Tesla app or whatever.
In other words the doors can open and the locks can break and if they do, when traveling at a speed of 125mph, you don't want to have to worry about a loose door, god forbid you close your fingers in one. Those things are all steal. And as an proud owner of a 1961 Chrysler Newport, I can say that having the doors close on your fingers is a mistake you only make once. Lol

The Dukes of Hazzard original tv show in the early 80s is the reason most of us as kids were building our own ramps and jumping over anything in our bikes! Usually we were jumping over our friends lying down at the end of the ramp. I loved the show and thought Sonny Shroyer as Enos was the cutest guy ever so when my family was transferred to South Georgia because we were a military family, and I found myself in Valdosta, Ga, I’ll never forget the first time we were in a store and ran into Sonny! He was from Valdosta and stayed there even while making the show. He’s one celebrity who never let the fame get to him! He was the nicest guy ever

I used to drive a Dodge Viper RT/10... people would pull up beside and talk to me constantly... try to race me... girls would jump in... random people would come up and ask to shake my hand or if they could take a pic with the car or use it in some modeling shoot... offer me free parking if I parked in front of their business... etc etc.. never had a Confederate Flag painted on it, though.
As an Australian named Annette it was very weird watching this movie years ago and finding out there’s an Australian character named Annette in this. I do not recall being in this movie

I remember watching this as a kid, my brother ripped it to a DVD for my dad and we watched this movie atleast 10 times a year. This movie sure shaped my car preference.
in the show, the doors were welded shut. I dont remember why they never fixed them. could be that they jumped the car so much, they didnt want the doors so fly open.

Back in the early 1980s in the TV series The General Lee is a race car so the doors are welded shut early in the movie when they got stuck between the two dump trucks the doors were jamed before they leave Cooter's if you notice Luke tries to open the door Cooter says they did not have time to fix everything hence going in and out of the window

Someone probably said it in the comments but about the doors in the TV show they will leave it shut because it’s “a race car” and race Cars usually have welded doors for NASCAR but I think in the movie since they crashed it between those tractors and the doors got stuck. I think that’s the reasoning in the movie.

Nice theory but there is a Hazzard county Kentucky where this and the tv show was supposed to be taking place. Though it was filmed in Georgia and the tv show in California. Which if you are from the region is hilarious to see California mountains in shows like this and Justified and many more and its like obviously not the place.

NASCAR in America originated from muscle cars like those and before that folks used to run moonshine which was illegal at the time. To this day there are dry counties in the south where liquor is illegal in county limits. And home made moonshine is illegal as it isn't regulated and could be dangerous to drink also it's not taxed and the government frowns on not getting their cut. It's gotten lighter people can make in many places so much for their own use or minor sales and moonshine is getting attention like whiskeys and scotch more in its quality so more legal makers have come about.

its very loosely based of the dukes of hazzard tv series from the early 80s, the original series actors hated it. John Schnieder (the original Bo) called it an episode of Jackass with an orange car. its just a dumb bad fun movie with a cool car cool stunts and tits.

Obviously you never seen the tv show. The General Lee was the Duke boys race car. The Doors were welded shut. If you grew up watching the show,like I did. If was very family friendly for TV. The movie got bad reviews from the original cast cause it wasn't family friendly. The only thing I liked about the movie,other than Daisy. The stunt work.

That boycott was bullshit. Their stated reasons were all nonsense. Talking about the movie sexualizing Daisy and stuff like that... c'mon... as if she wasn't sexualized in the show. And did anyone besides Cooter even join the boycott? That guy boycotted a couple seasons of the original TV show, too, because the producers wanted him to be clean shaven.
