    Absolutely gorgeous! 😍 I loved the color and shape of the stone. What is the brand and model? I know you slightly mentioned it in the video but absolutely loved this stone and I have been searching everyone for something similar.

    I’m looking to do this on my own. I always thought you needed chicken-wire before installing stone on foundation? Love the video.. So, what did they put over the cement blocks before installing the stones? Was it just mortar?

    you mentioned the cost of the material...how much does it cost in labor for this type of stone? do they charge by the SF? the box? the day?

  • @conkey4

    These are installers.....not stone masons. Worst thing to happen to masonry. So many potato's (stones that are taller then they are wide) and those columns don't look plumb at all. Good luck on your build though

  • @Toasty_1992
    @Toasty_1992 2 года назад +1

    Why didn’t the masons do a scratch coat? It was bare smooth?

  • @savannahrei8674

    I need to do this on my house also. You mentioned $5k in stone. Do you have a total installed cost per sq ft including labor so I can figure for my house project?

      I don’t think anyone will share that information here. Get on Facebook and join (The Contractor Fight) there’s a lot of good and professional people that will help answer your question. Price will vary where you live so make sure to add that into your question. Good luck.

    The wall should have been moistened before applying the material. It's very likely it will pop off within a few freeze thaw cycles the way they did it.

      @KefirTView 2 года назад +1

      I was going to type that too. He's going to have flash drying all over that stonework. Basically cold joints all around. I give it 2 years tops. Unskilled labor is expensive.

      My mom not far south of Niko literally gorilla glued stone to the flat concrete on the back of her house and it’s all still there 10+ years later lol. He’ll prob be fine.

    • @ohsweetmystery

      It looks moistened to me. The blotchy color makes it appear that they did moisten the concrete first.

    There’s two things, I don’t understand why you didn’t do the back foundation to match the rest of the house and second you should have did the stone on the front of the house at the front porch all the way to the roof of the porch and it would make your front doors really stand out and pop, just like you did in the front around that window!!

  • @snipex111

    That is absolutely not the correct way to lay stone im a fourth generation Mason an they have stone stacked an straight joints everywhere an Im by no way being racist but guys like that are ruining our trade

    • @patrickmcmahon1443
      @patrickmcmahon1443 2 года назад

      yup-a little more effort and better layout staggering joints and this is a not so bad. Laying stones from the middle/top down seems like it is a fake stone? Not old school masonry. Laying stones for 25 years and this is not how Stone Masons lay stone. No Chiseling, fitting, or facing stone.

      Hey,I could use some advice.I’m going to be building a house and have a lot of old hand cut limestone and other foundation rock.I’ve got a wild hair and want to cut my own natural stone veneer.I’m going to cut it 1 1/2-2” thick . Will that be too much weight to install like this or would it need a ledge and go up from there.It’s going to take a while to cut it but it beats 5g and should look killer. It will be anywhere from 4-8” tall and 10-36”long.Any recommendation on a wet concrete saw? Been looking at the evolution 12”wet saw,it’s electric and looks like it cuts stone pretty good from the videos I’ve watched but not sure it would be up for that big of job.Appreciate any advice..

    "When you do it, you gotta do it right" and "You pay for it, it hurts only once", and you go and save 5k on 350k house by not putting the stones in the back. So much about the advices...
