Thank you for such great customer support. When you showed them the problem with the bricks they seemed to be nervous that it was going to cost a lot more to fix it. Too many contractors don't share in that "surprise and look for ways to make a couple hundred extra bucks. Instead, you tell them you just need another bag of mud. Great customer service. Beautiful work, thank you for making my day!

Is that right? If he expected to get paid for extra additional work would that be poor service? If you work hourly and your boss has you work 4 hours longer is it expected that you get paid for the additional time or not?

@@justinbarr5335 we don’t know the exact circumstances of the job contract, I’m a small business owner and sometimes I give a little for a lot more work. The owner of this house may be a realtor who flips or rents many many properties a year, so him fixing the brick at no charge is not exactly “at a loss” if he does 10 more jobs for this customer next month or this year. Return customers keep the light bill paid.

I see some praise for not charging the customer more for the brick repair. I think that is totally respectable and fair. Depending on the situation and scope of project it also does not make a contractor a bad person to charge extra when extra work is done. After all how many people work hourly paid jobs and just do work off the clock to be nice?

You did right by that customer. VERY few other contractors would've been that honest. I could write a book about the sh*t that contractors pull to try and get an extra $1K out of a client. And, the bigger the project, the more they pull crap like that. You're incredibly talented. Every job I've seen of yours has turned out extraordinary. If you lived in Orlando, FL I'd hire you in a heartbeat. Now, I've either got to try and do this my self, or find someone who I trust. These videos are very helpful. Btw...what brand stone do you recommend???

Hi! Very interesting and I learned a few things. A couple of questions though.
    1) I’ve been reading a lot about installing stone veneer and I understand that you should install a ‘rain drain’ behind the veneer. Otherwise moisture wicks into the concrete, mortar, and stone veneer, eventually weakening it and having it fall off.
It’s supposed to be constructed such that the rain drain has an exit at the bottom of the stone to allow the moisture to drain out.
    2) You put the pieces of wood in as a base ledge, but you didn’t show how that was finished. Do you just remove the wood and grout it? Or should it be actually sitting on some kind of ledge for support?
    3) How does installation differ between above ground and below grade?
    4) I’ve always thought you should screw mesh screen onto the backing wall and you mortared your stones to that?
I would like to try to install veneer on my own, but the more I read, I’m finding it’s much more complex than I thought! I look forward to your response! Thanks! Patti
