My favorite part of old school experts error opening is him saying "wow this card is worth like $40" really shows how things have changed over the last eight years.

I just want to say, assuming it wasn't short printed, the odds of pulling a Blue Eyes is actually 19%. There's no guarantee you won't get two of the same ultra rare when you pull. So you do the odds of each ultra NOT being a Blue Eyes, and subtract from 100%. (0.9)*(0.9)=0.81, or 81% chance you will not pull a Blue Eyes. So the odds are 19% that you will. As you can guess, I'm very fun at parties
@@dustincampbell265 You're right, I over simplified it. To be more accurate, you actually need the odds of not pulling a Blue Eyes per pack, to the 24. In LOB, the odds of any pack being an ultra at all are 1/12. The odds of a given ultra being Blue Eyes is 1/10 (assuming no short prints.) So the odds of one pack having blue eyes is 1/120, or the odds of not are 119/120. (119/120)^24 is about 0.818, so 18.2% chance you'll pull Blue Eyes in a box.
@@wesleyevans2981 The Blue Eyes White Dragon has been pulled 2 times in 360 packs = 15 boxes which rather supports the hypothesis that it is no short print. As you already said the chance per pack is 1/120 of pulling Blue Eyes. So the most and equally likely scenarios are pulling him exactly 2 or exactly 3 times (both 22% chance). Any other amount has way worse odds (exactly 1 time has 14% and exactly 4 times has 16,8% - and it get's worse the further we distant from 2 or 3). We would need a way way way bigger sample size to tell for sure though. But with this data it at least doesn't look like the odds for Blue Eyes are very different from other ultra rares.
I've always been team DDS Blue Eyes solely because of the limited print. Even though it was guaranteed in the first print DDS boxes, we can probably all assume theres LESS printed than there were with the OG boxes.

I agree - Ive always been on the fence with the debate of the DDS/SDK Blue Eyes vs LOB purely because of the artwork (the DDS/SDK artwork is my childhood). However, pulling something from a pack is going to give you the potential for such a higher rate of return. Let's look at it 'glass half full' and say that we have two great versions of Blue Eyes for different reasons!
I am not a youtuber but i have pulled the first edition blue eyes white dragon 2 years ago and i was new to YU-GI-OH so I did not tink it was that rare but now i think,WOW my most fav. card now.
Very nice video Ruxin. I’ve not seen anyone really pull the blue eyes from LOB packs so I think it’s scarcity makes it all the more rare. I used to own three starter deck kaiba blue eyes (preferred the original art) but I lost them along with the movie blue eyes shinning dragon.
I don't think I've ever even seen a 1st ed Blue-Eye White Dragon (in person), and I've been collecting since LOB 1st was a thing in card shops. I've got my horrifically centered Red Eyes Black Dragon 1st ed to prove it to boot (and a few limbs here and there).
Well, LOB has the most value since you can't get it as a guaranteed card, but finding a perfect condition 1st Ed. SDK is really hard as well. This is pretty interesting and informative! Which would you say it's the second "grail" card in Yugioh? I've always wondered about that.
Is it just Rare to see them opened on Video? I'd have to pull my collection out but I have 3 originals LOB from when they 1st came out. How can you tell the difference from reprints?
I remember I got a blue eyes white dragon in a school field trip to the movie theaters we watch whatever yogi oh movie was out at the time. They gave us all a free pack now looking back I wish I would have kept all my cards
I got an original Print Blue Eyes (2002 unlimited) in the PSA purgatory. Sent it out right before they went from ten to twenty bucks along with some other Ultra rares and 2 secret rares from that set... still waiting...
LOB just isnt obtainable for most anymore but I would still have it as the grail. I was fortunate to get my copy way back in 2002 and kept it w my collection all these years. Its not perfect but i got it for a Goblin Attack Force and was laughed at for doing so. Back then that was a deal for the guy getting the goblin for the meta. Still have it and the exodia head that i traded my theme deck blue eyes for and got laughed at. Pretty sure colleting pokemon at the time made my decisions easier. Still have 1 of each wavy and glossy packs sealed and put away. Ive opened my fair share of LOB 1st and opened a grail on youtube back in 2010. Misprinted Dark magician. I sold it for $200 in 2014 and the current owner of the card paid $8000 for it in the misprint group on FB. I made the video public but the quality is VERY poor. Thats the rarest card ive opened personally. ive posted mst of my collection in the reddit post which shows the Blue eyes im talking about. Good memories.
Whenever I watch a video like this, I get so pissed because I sold all of my cards in a yard sale in like 2009 or 2010, and I remember having multiple blue eyes, jinzo's, polymerization's, etc.
As a MTG player I'll point out that 2 of those 4 Black Lotus were pulled by the same person. HOWEVER considering he saved a lot of packs from when he was younger and usually traded cards for packs he did manage to not have to pay an insane amount for the packs.
It's hard to say but seeing that you mentioned that it may be short printed, I started to think of a few things. 1: Chances are there are a good bit of them out there but you'll never really know seeing that it's a very old set and recording, especially YGO products, was just not really a thing in the early 2000's. 1: I doubt Konami short printed the card, the idea of doing that in the first set for it's most iconic monster is weird to me but who knows with them. 3: YGO has not been popular in my country for a LONG time but when it was, I've NEVER seen an LOB Blue-Eyes, everyone had the SDK version and I honestly thought that that was original print of it. I would like to see those who also have [If they still do] the old SJC/YCS prize cards. I've heard those are ridiculously expensive.
My favorite part of old school experts error opening is him saying "wow this card is worth like $40" really shows how things have changed over the last eight years.

I've got my horrifically centered Red Eyes Black Dragon 1st ed to prove it to boot (and a few limbs here and there).
Where do you get old yugioh sets that aren't super expensive?
great video! thank you Rux!
It was Hella shirt printed no question ask. Great video analysis 👍
Yes, we like this format of video as well, man!
This video definitely makes me appreciate my 1st Edition BEWD even more. Plot twist, mine is also “faded”…. 😱
Still regretting the fact I didn't buy a 1st ed booster box for 1500 a few years ago, but oh well
What an awesome video man
LOB just isnt obtainable for most anymore but I would still have it as the grail. Good memories.
i actually have 4 1st edition blue eyes from when i used to buy packs when i was younger, one of my favorite cards
This could be the start of a cool series.
Whenever I watch a video like this, I get so pissed because I sold all of my cards in a yard sale in like 2009 or 2010, and I remember having multiple blue eyes, jinzo's, polymerization's, etc.
You could make a documentary out of this. Nice vid!
I've always thought a few of these LOB cards were short printed. As you said Blue Eyes being one of them perhaps Gaia the Dragon Champion as well.
Just getting back into yugioh and I have to start my collection over I’d be happy for any blue eyes😭
So what is the pack called exactly and where can I get one from?
Looking forward to the day you open one ! 😀
I heard that BEWD was usually paired with Exodia in terms of the two ultras of the box.
Didn't realize 1st edition blue eyes from lob was that rare
