you're half right, because I think you forgot that Reiner tried so hard to convince Marley to attack Shiganshina, which caused many Eldians from Paradis to die. So if he was truly sorry, he would not have done that. And don't give me the "because they attacked Liberio" excuse. Eren's attack on Liberio was not the start of everything, it was just a continuation of the circle of violence that Marley started. Reiner destroyed the gates TWO times, he attacked Paradis twice and on top of that, Marley declared war first. So Eren had every right to attack.

However Eren was dealing a giant blow to Marley’s military which was also a trap laid out by the Marleyan themselves in the internment zone, letting more innocent Eldians die. The battle in Liberio was similar to the raid on stohess and despite Eren having killed all those people, I believe most of the blame should be put on the Marleyan scumbags who created the whole situation. Just like the Survey Corps decided to risk the whole city being razed to capture Annie back in Stohess a lot of the blame should be on them for having decided to attempt to apprehend Annie at all costs.
Eren didn’t have the right to do what he did just because ‘oh they did it first’ but he had a hell of a good motive for it. The military was all there, conveniently placed for him to annihilate, and considering the declaration of war above him, it was exactly what he had to do.

@@thatoneblackdude3333 It's funny how Eren and Zeke (and by extension Bertholdt ) are pretty much the only ones who suffer any form of consequences to their actions. Levi wants to murder tf out of Zeke for killing survey corps members, but Annie was slaughtering them like flies by the dozen and legit took away his entire OG squad, and he's cool with her? She slaughtered countless during her battle with Eren within the walls and everyone's just cool with her? Reiner was single-handedly responsible for wiping out an entire district and no one wants him dead but himself? Jean doesn't want him dead for what he did to Marco? Pieck was legit right there assisting Zeke and slaughtering the entirety of the Survey Corps and, because she's "cUtE wAiFu", she gets a solid pass?
All of these guys were slaughtering everyone and destroying everything Eren cared for long before he even became a Titan Shifter, and none of them take any form of responsibility for creating the "monster" he became nor suffer any consequences to the actions they committed which ultimately resulted in the Rumbling? Not even Gabi suffers anything, and she not only killed Sasha (something I was more mad about than Connie, Jean, Armin, and Mikasa combined) but beat a poor guy across the head with a brick for checking up on her. Instead, they all get shonen motivations which grants them plot-armor.

Okay I’ll try to fill the plot hole. The reason why they wanted to keep Eren alive was for two reasons.
1: Having multiple Titans in the same vessel is not good for Marley’s military because it lowers the number of warriors that can exist.
2: It’s possible that Marley wanted to pass the Founder to somebody that they could absolutely trust (i.e. Gabi). As we saw when Pieck and Poroc fell into the pit during the Marley arc, the Warriors are not 100% trusted by Marley.

Its also important to remember the Zeke of everything. Those without royal blood can't fully use the founding titan, so Annie would be taking the risk of just being fed to Zeke if she took the founder herself. Its been a while since I've gone back to pretimeskip AoT so this next part might be wrong but I think I Zeke wanted to take Eren back to Marley with him to "free him from their father's brainwashing," so they might've had orders from Zeke to bring Eren back alive. I'm not positive on that part though because I'm a little fuzzy on when exactly Zeke made it to Paradis.

Nah saving Armin was not about who was more logical but a emotional decision Levi didn't want to force Erwin back to living his miserable life as the " devil " right after he demanded he die for victory , saving Armin had narrative purpose of having Armin become the hero eren said he would but Ishyama fumbled the pay off as armin became discount Willy tyber.

I feel like the reason why Eren wasn't eaten was either because the orders were to retreive the coordinate and have someone else eat it in Marley, or because they weren't sure Eren was the coordinate so they wanted to retrieve the Attack Titan so Marley could potentially have 8 titans in their arsenal (this is going by their line of thought, where there's still the possibility that Eren might not be the founder).

How Annie's redemption arc should have happened and ended, from my point of view:
She crystallizes herself as in canon and can't do anything for 4 years. 4 years of imprisoning are a good chance for changing her worldview.
Armin still visits her after capturing, not for seeing his waifu but for trying to get some information about everything she knows and after a failure he just tells her about the stuff happening for 4 years to let her know everything needed and save her from extra questions when she gets out. As Armin and Hitch share their feelings with her sometimes, Annie rethinks her life.
At the beginning of the story her goal was to come back home no matter what and she was ready to kill everybody to achieve it, so, to my mind, the best way for this girl to develop as a character is realizing during the timeskip the value of life and not having an opportunity to return. She doesn't fall for Armin (and he doesn't: common she's responsible for destroying his home, making him migrate, thousands of deaths; he just can't).
Leonhart thanks Hitch after escaping and meets the alliance. If they want to stop Eren just like in canon, she joins them cause understands now how much life is important and doesn't want so many people to pass away because of her again anymore.
    My versions of her redemption:
    - she sacrifices herself for armin or connie (just like in season 1)
    - gets killed by her own father when he turns into a titan
    - has to kill Mr. Leonhart to defend herself when he turns into a titan
    - she finds out her dad is trampled
    - she dies while trying to stop eren, in the battle
Obviously, Annie should have died and there's no other ending for her after committing genocide on the island.

    During the campfire scene:
Reiner, Pieck, Gabi, Falco, & Annie: "To tell you the truth, we just want the rumbling to stop for our parents' sake, not the world. The world caused us pain and to do horrible things to people we don't even hate. They fed lies about you all to us, treated our parents and other eldians like shit, which why our parents treated us the way we did."
Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Connie, Hange, & Levi: "We're not stopping the rumbling, as horrible as it is, we tried peace for 4 years but the world refuses to see our negotiations, and even though we have every right to kill you or not help you, we at least understand you, so we'll offer this, we'll save only your parents before the rumbling reaches them."

There should have been at least one death around that campfire.
It’s incredible that the person half responsible for both Erwin’s death & the traumatic deaths of all the Levi squad except Floch and a bystander during Connie’s mother’s titanization was just able to sit there with no confrontation at all apart from some poking from Yelena. It’s actually shocking if you think about it... S3 Levi would’ve murdered Pieck there and then but nooo, this new Levi has dementia and all he think about is Zeke.
Annie murdered all of Levi squad. But she gets off scot free, there’s no need for explanation about how stupid that is. The bitch even gives up and leaves once she realizes her father is probably dead... and they just let her... wtf??? Reiner, what about when Zeke forced you to retrieve the founder despite your objections to save Annie? Why don’t you use some of those experiences and put em to use?
Gabi who KILLED Sasha gets off scot-free, nobody has a thing to say about that.
That friendship, peace bullshit at the end was so corny and unrealistic. The scouts have been through 10x more trauma and pain than anyone else at that campfire, trauma and pain caused by the people sitting across them, yet they’re the ones looking to kill the guy who’s obviously trying to protect them?
Nobody ever brings up a point of how Eren is doing this BECAUSE of what Annie, Reiner, Bertotolto and many others put him through. No sympathy for Eren, but all the sympathy in the world for Annie. Such bullshit.
What makes it even worse, ch 127 Annie: “Are you going to convince him (talking about Eren), is the kind of person who tries to commit mass murder really going to have a mind you can change that easily?” BITCH YOU LITERALLY MURDERED A TOWN AND YO-YO’D A NIGGA???

@Devin The Dude it would’ve made more sense for the scouts to try kill Eren if the Hizuru subplot actually had more meaning, let’s say Mikasa went to hizuru, became Queen, met her long lost family and got close to them, then had armin, Levi, jean, hange etc come live there. At least then they’d have a decent reason for trying to kill Eren to protect their own home. The whole plot of killing Eren is “oh war bad”. What about the time they slaughtered all of Kenny’s squad? Aren’t these the same people who happily ripped NAILS off of religious figures inside the walls? Who killed all the titans outside the walls despite knowing they were humans? Isn’t that ‘genocide’?What about the chance to “talk” there?

Imagine if Annie ate Eren, she would have 3 titans within her, mission complete but then how do u pass that power down? Marley would loose 3 titans, as they are within one.
Reiner couldn't go because his mind was split, so it had to be Annie, what if Reiner just get fukd up when hr is the armoured? Marco death messed him up, Imagine him killing armin and Jean? No too risky to send Reiner.

I know ima specifically talking about Jean and Armin, Reiners mind broke from Marco, I think he is much closer to Jean and Armin than Marco, reiner can handle seeing innocents die as he doesn't know them personally, so to me Annie was the the logical choice, I mean before that, they killed the two titans and now had a clear objective (Eren) 5 years, a sign of relief, which went to their heads and they didn't take into count tbag Erwin is that guy lmfao, they were getting set up (Basement secrets Ceremony setup to lore them out by Erwin), plus sending Annie was good, imo she of all the warriors is the most skilled titan user, she can harden at will and fast, she can call other pure titans, plus she is the most skilled fighter in the warrior unit, but again, human error fukd en up, Levi was the best soldier, they didn't know about levi,
Plus sending Reiner... idk, he's indestructible but I feel like he won't last as long or can transform more than once after a short time like annie can, plus the horses can just ride forever or they can just scale the trees and always wait out reiner.

Four years, awake, in solitary confinement. Unable to move, communicate, kill herself, or sleep to pass the time. Four. YEARS. I shudder every single time i try to fathom such an experience. I'd be horrified just after a few hours, at most one day. Now imagine, THOUSANDS OF THEM, in a ROW.
Then tack on that she hears through Hitch and Armin that MARLEY has been discovered. THEN years later Armin comes crying to try and feel less guilty for attacking her home. For all ARMIN knows and for all ANNIE fears in the crystal, the raid on Liberio killed her father. *Annie DID suffer. It was just off screen.* The whole Armin Annie thing is a joke. She killed his friends and family. But yes, Annie did suffer. The whole ship thing at the end shouldnt have happened. Levi and her should have had to have a very brutal conversation and come to some kind of terms. Levi and Annie are actually very similar so after hashing it out there was enough common ground to have a fragile truce. Both were children, who had a weapon put in their hand and taught to kill to survive. Annie DID suffer. We just didn't see it because the author lazily tossed her away...like Ymir...

To take a shot at answering the questions if they haven’t already been answered. Annie had to chase the scouts because both Reiner and Bert were on the squad. It would have been really suspicious/weird if either one of them disappears during the mission a titan shows up and when the titan leaves they reappear. At the time the suspicion that shifters was a thing was coming into play and they would have outed themselves. Then for the Annie not swallowing Eren probably has to deal with the fact that then Annie would have to be ate in order for the power of the founder to be used. She more than likely didn’t want to be a sacrifice or they told them not to for that exact reason. Same thing for Ymir. As far as them both living…I mean even though they did some horrendous, unforgivable shit the story went out of it’s way to make it clear they weren’t the bad guys here…i would have like to see Annie see some backlash for what she did…but whatever. i always thought that the counterargument for not eating eren but feed him to some other warrior was plausible. as we learn later, marley relies heavily on titan shifters as their military advantage. scrambling two to three titans into a single warrior would be a great waste, since they would not be able to safely separate them later. another thing is that they wouldn't know that eren has the coordinate until after those two opportunities. just the attack titan, which further weakens the urge to eat him immediately. idk why everyone acts like the eren having a founder should have been something very obvious to warriors. we learn that ksavier withheld the information that the founder could be activated only by a shifter of royal blood, so the warriors must've figured that eren would use the founder powers if he had it at that point.

I think that Annie didnt want to eat Eren because that'd mean that she'd get eaten too by the time she got to Marley. Also, big agree to Zeke having the only competent plan, but fucking up because of his massive ego. I've wanted to make a video like this for a while, but you pretty much said everything that I thought of. Killing Sawney and Bean is the most small brain decision in this series. I cant think of a greater mistake.
A lot of the mistakes in the warrior's plans can be chalked up to not thinking ahead. By the way, Reiner and Annie were the ones to kill Sawney and Bean. Reiner wanted them dead so that the scouts wouldn't learn anything about them, but theres nothing they could have learned that would have been useful. Say they figured out titan serum. great, now they know how to turn their own men into mindless zombies that want to kill them. Worthless info.

Good video, but I think you missed a few points about Annie and Reiner's dynamic. Reiner was trying to assert himself as leader and bullying Annie in the process. So, he forced her to do a few things, including killing those 2 titans, to prove her loyalty to Marley. Also, Annie joined the police force, rather than the scouts, so the female titan coming after Eren was a clever surprise attack and it would not have so obviously linked the hidden warriors to any of the scouts if Annie had killed Armin.

The warriors characters were definitely completely destroyed in the ending. The biggest things I would do to change/fix the warriors are:
    1. Have them all feel a ton of guilt for paradise, on the level of reiner depressed and ready to commit suicide at the start of season 4. No I would do it again bull. Thats stupid.
    2. I understand the scouts being forced to work with them if they want to stop eren ( and them wanting to stop eren could have been fleshed out way more. Maybe they would rather sacrifice themselves then let 7 billion other people die, idk, but anything could be better than black and white genocide bad.) But setting aside that, I understand not being able to kill eachother if you want to save everyone, but there should still be way more tension. More of jean punching reiner, less we are all friends now. And the warriors should need to do a lot more to atone, during and after the battle.
    3. Their punishment. Almost none of them got any real punishment or karma in the end. Lets fix that.
    Bertolt died. Thats good. 👍
    Porco died. Thats good. 👍
Now we can start actually giving new punishments.
Annie: In the story we have her finally meet back up with her dad for a total of 1 minute. Then the worm turns her dad, along with everyone else into titans. I feel some good karma for her, as well as a good sacrifice, would be her dad attacking them, and nearly killing one of the scouts. Idk which one, I think maybe levi, as he does probally still hate her for killing his team, but is focusing on eren and zeke. Then, annie is forced to kill her dad. Then she would need to live with that for the rest of her life. I feel that would be a good punishment, considering getting back to him was her goal the whole series, and now, she killed him. And saved a scout in the process.
Pieck: Honestly I dont know for her. She didn't do as much, so she probally doesn't deserve a super dramatic punishment, and at the same time, unlike annie, there really isn't anything personal that happens during the final battle that I remember that I could work with.
And finally, reiner. Its simple. JUST LET HIM SACRIFICE HIMSELF ALREADY. We have him atone for his sins, save someone or everyone, and let him finally die. And then, his last pannel in the series isnt him, SNIFFING A LETTER!!
Oh yeah. There is also zeke, but he died and thats fine, and its good levi finally got him. Marcel also was there, but he was eaten by ymir before he could do anything, so I dont have anything to say about him. Also, the warrior recruits (falco and gabi) were also there, but they are literally children. I say just let hem live.

I think Annie went to get eren alone is because she had to prove her loyalty further, as the warriors start suspecting her as a sympathizer when she saved Connie, whilst having her kill Marco, I think realistically that doesn’t completely prove her to be with the mission, not only that, but I think Annie might have had feelings for eren at one point, or some sort of admiration, with her being reminded of him constantly in certain situations, like in S1 23, or the lost girls OVA.

13:10 I’ll give it a shot: I think that there are 2 possible reasons. The first is that they might not have known what would happen if they swallowed eren and didn’t want to risk it. It’s never explained but maybe Marley never knew either when experimenting what would happen if a shifter ate another shifter. It’s possible but I don’t find it very convincing.
The second one, which I find far more compelling, was that if they ate eren they would then have the founder and that would essentially be a death sentence for themselves when they return to Marley. Like Marley probably wouldn’t just let them keep it. They’d give the founder to someone who could use it. Which would mean they’d get fed to someone else. It’s kind of same reason they didn’t just go back after marcel got eaten. They knew that they’d be fed to someone else and didn’t want to die. So it probably would have been the most effective method but in this case it’s a selfish motivation to want to return and get to live the rest of your life when compared to the importance of their mission. Anyway that’s my head cannon.
We actually kind of see this later in the series with pieck too when she was holding eren at gunpoint. I mean it’s not exactly the same but they both involve the most optimal play being some kind of detriment to themselves. Ie shooting eren would guarantee that her father would die because she would be disobeying Marley. Though one involves following orders and the other is disobeying them.

  • @6ixlxrd
    @6ixlxrd 3 года назад +1

I'm guessing that, from your point about why Annie (or any of the other Shifters) didn't eat Eren, the point stems from what we know about Grisha eating the Founder. When Eren ate Grisha, he inherited both the Attack Titan and the Founding Titan. This means that, if someone eats a Shifter with two Titans, they receive both Titans (with the only hypothetical way to separate the two Titans being to kill the Shifter). This would pose a problem to Marley on both fronts. They are evidenced to care more about quantity over quality, viewing the more Titan Shifters they have as the better: two Shifters each in control over a Titan is better to them than one Shifter in control over two Titans (otherwise, why not combine the Female Titan with the Armored, creating the perfect offense and defense).
However, I'm guessing the permeant-ness (not a word, I know) behind doing so scared them, as once two Titans were combined, there would be no way to separate them other than to kill the Shifter possessing them. And as stated, once a Shifter dies, a random baby inherits their Titan, meaning Marley could lose TWO Titans for the price of one. Of course, this would then raise the question: how does Marley know this if they've never tried? In fact, it's never once been hinted through the entire story that any Shifter before Eren has come in possession of multiple Titans, so either Marley didn't know a Shifter could have multiple (hence why no one eats Eren), or they knew and lied to everyone else about it.
I mean, not even Paradis knew you could have multiple until Eren just...did it, out of nowhere. Memories of the Founder, perhaps? Retcon? Who knows.

the more i think about it, for me the main issue is how the characters treat the warriors during the rumbling.
With annie, she has no regrets on what she's done, because everything she's done was to be back with her father. but asks mikasa if she would be willing to kill eren and put her love aside? i would be willing to accept this, if annie were to acknowledge her hypocrisy, and perhaps both Annie and Mikasa could find a heart to heart where they both understand each other's motives, finally reaching the parallel between them as opposite sides of the same coin, and perhaps even coming to an agreement. she expresses remorse for killing marco, but that's the most she's been. in the very least, if she said "i'd do it all again", it could have been framed in a way to say "i did what i did. maybe i'd do it again if i had to. but i'd rather not, every moment haunts me, and i don't know if i could look my own father in the eye".
It's strange that annie did neither of that, and yet the scout veterans were more forgiving on her, and seem to just be cool with it. no less armin who has a crush on annie. i mean, the whole "you've been influenced by bertholdt's memories" thing could have actually had some truth to it, and maybe armin could come to a conclusion where he doesn't love Annie like Bertholdt did, but at LEAST he would be willing to say "you know what annie, you did indeed kill many of my friends and comrades. but in turn, i did the same, including many innocent lives. i can't really hold it against you anymore. i can't get over it, but i don't want to hold it against you", sort of thing. but to love Annie? that's far too soon considering the circumstances.
With Reiner, i just feel so damn upset. i get it, his whole soldier shtick was kinda fake, he was never meant to be a warrior. but come on, making him into a snivelling apologist just doesn't seem like him either, especially the kind that gets his ass so easily beat, it's laughable. i don't know if i could write him better, since up until the Warhammer arc, i quite liked him, the guilt he felt and everything. but he seemed too much of a punching bag. to add insult to injury, he's sniffing a letter written by historia. come on, that's not cute, or funny, that's just weird. it was funny in season 2, he was younger and everyone seemed to love "Christa"/historia for her charm, but they're adults by this point, how do you not let go of that kind of fantasy? especially after everything.
and of course, eren and armin. come on. a whiny snivelling snob who doesn't want mikasa to find another man, wants her to think about him forever.... that sounds so pathetic, it's uncharacteristic, even for Eren. he got his thoughts in chapter 130, he had an arc, he matured. it's one thing to hide your own thoughts and feelings and plans from your friends, another to completely fake your resolve and maturity, that's just cheap. and armin, come on. "thanks for being a mass murderer for us", dude that's not armin at all.
i read AOT NO REQUIEM, and i must say, that's the armin and eren i was looking for. how there are AOT fans that hated that fanmade ending, it confuses me. in my opinion, it does more dignified justice for the characters, and the narrative of the story, than what the official manga does.
whether the anime will change this, i hope so. so far, there's been hints to an anime only exclusive ending, i hope it'll make it work.

I think the scouts had somewhat moved on from their beef with Annie. Annie (who didn't direct kill any of the main recruits, except Marco) wakes up, when our guys have just got over Gabi killing Sasha, and are literally on the path to 'saving the world'. She was inactive for years (wasn't involved in the 2 major battles that nearly destroyed the survey corps) & the situation had significantly changed since their initially conflict (they'd attacked her home). The key thing imo is Levi (& Co) realised she atleast felt something for the things she did (her titan cried after losing Eren), whereas Levi suspected Zeke didn't give a shit about killing Eldians.
Side note: Reiner decided that they had to take out the captured titans and if Annie ate the founder she'd be risking getting 'replaced' earlier, same for Reiner & Bert.

We all know the lengths Mikasa would go to, for Erens sake. Annie understood herself & the hypocrisy of the world, so she just did whatever she had to do. So she enjoys beating(killing) capable opponents (soldiers), there's plenty of pro fighters like that. Unlike the other warriors, she was hoping to find someone who could change things. When she did, she eventually overcame her selfishness & came clutch in the end, long before Mikasa overcame her love.
