I love the idea of those removable floor panels in the engine room for both servicing underneath them, and then being able to walk on them and not worry about stepping on pipes or wires.

Couold you possibly add in a small "Price as tested" segment to all of your videos, to add a bit of here's the cost, now let me show you what you're getting. Love the videos, keep them coming !

Usually we put the price on our captain's report on boattest.com. - the reason we don't mention price is that some boats are custom, other dealers have special prices, but we know its a huge request so will discuss about sharing it on the description paragraph.

everything is possible with Helmsan trawler. Lots of things like this are customizable but I would reach out to them via our website: boattest.com/boats/helmsman-trawlers/43e-pilothouse-review

Thanks for this review, we need more cruisers in the 40-50' range. Not that those 60'ers are cool, but long-range cruising for most of us normal folks will be on a boat in the 40-50' range. With Grand Banks, Navigator, etc getting out of this segment, there aren't many choices left.

Two of my uncles are fishermen. This boat reminds me of a fishing trawler that they and a few other men work on.
    I like it.
    I love
Wonder if there is a professional version of this trawler for professional fishermen like them?
Yes, that would require a very different set up from a yacht, but this boat does remind me of the traditional fishing trawlers back in the day.
Imagine two Trawlers like this one, with a long rope line in between them, holding up a net, with bouys on the rope.
Then the nets gey hauled in once they fill up with fish and the fishing trawlers take turns at each haul they get to take on their boat to sell to market when they get back to land.
Yes, this was my one and only experience of professional fishing on the trawler as a kid with my dad and uncle many, many, years ago. I was just there for the adventure as a kid.

That harbour area's greenery really reminds me of the coasts here in Ireland.
For a moment I thought that it was Cork Harbour, when one of the white modern looking buildings with the black looking glass panels looked very similar to a building in Cork Harbour. (Just incase your wondering: County Cork is on the south coast of Ireland. Cork City, has a population of I think around 500,000 people. Cork Harbour is apparently the second largest natural harbour in the world. Not in terms of how busy it is, not by a long shot, but in terms of its natural size. It is a major port here in Ireland though.)

Is it possible there is an error with the performance data, underestimating the fuel economy?
    7.3 knots / 2.7 gph = 2.7 nmpg. not 0.6 nmpg.

I've heard you mention in other videos that a boat will drift to starboard when reversing. Why does this happen? (Long time listener, first time caller)

    • @bempey
      @bempey 2 года назад +1

I've only had much smaller boats, but interested in a liveaboard for winters down south. So, my engineering explanation goes:
In reverse, the "down tilted prop-shaft" is causing the top half of the prop to push water "up" against the hull, causing no effect.
But the bottom of the prop is grabbing water and pushing it forward, and to port in this case. Since the vector of the force on the water is forward to port, the force on the propellor is rearward, to starboard.
Also, consider the prop as a wheel, riding on the bottom.
Its rotation "rolls" the bottom to starboard, hence the term "prop walk" as if the blades are walking over the bottom.
      I hope that makes sense.

If they made the skeg deeper and lowered the shaft a bit, i bet you could get 15kts out of that hull by dropping in a QSL9 of about the same horsepower (380) and a 30" prop.
