  • A microfluidic device able to generate and culture 3D cell constructs at the microscale (namely microtissues) was developed at the department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of Politecnico di Milano. In details, this device integrates an actuation mechanism that enables the cyclic mechanical stimulation of the cultured constructs, leading to benefits in terms of constructs performances. In particular, the exploitation of the device demonstrated the achievement of cardiac functional constructs (beating synchronously) starting from either primary rat cardiomyocytes or human cardiomyocytes derived from induced pluripotent stem cells.
This device is an advanced platform for three-dimensional cell culturing that can be exploited by pharmaceutical companies or biological research laboratories for in vitro drug screening and/or discovery (i.e. generation of functional cardiac micro-constructs exploitable as in vitro models representative of native tissues).

Hello. Very nobel idea on the stretch and strain technique inside the microfluidic. Can you please share a link to a paper you've published on this? Thank you very much.

Some segments in the video are stamped not adjacent to each other
