One of the clearest examples that jazz is American "classical" music. The tempo drags in the middle, Jools doesn't have what it take to sing the lyrics, and the whole band is bombastic. Even Barry Manilow's version swings harder than this! Here is the original Count Basie version, followed by vocal version, by Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross. You will note, there is no comparison. Good solos, I think the clarinet is a bit hit and miss. He is obv a very gd calrinetist but, not sure!!
