Man, I still think about that night sometimes. We sure had us a good time! Sorry Christians, I guess I made the mistake of assuming that we all knew what the RP in RPG stood for!
+NintendoCapriSun I think it's just that some people didn't realize you guys were doing an RP portrayal just there and took it out of context. I'm Christian, I'm not upset ♥ Still love you, Tim. I know you're not a malicious person! :D
+NintendoCapriSun I thought it was pretty obvious that your comment was within the context of the game, and I think most other people understood that, too. For those who didn't: it's a role-playing game! You become someone else. Tim did an awesome job staying in-character throughout the night, especially considering his allies were a Noble who doesn't respect privacy, a Rogue who can't get along with the Noble, and a Cleric who may or may not have eaten the Noble's mother. Madmartigan may have been the most "normal" character...
Knowing three languages is impressive for someone in the US. Meanwhile in Europe, three languages is common. That doesn't mean it's not impressive, considering the relatively small need of learning another language when living in the US, except for maybe Spanish. It's just that the perspective is very different.
+tiloco21 Previous editions of D&D based it on Intelligence. In 5th Edition you get languages based on your race and background. For example an Elf Wizard with the Sage background would have Common and Elven from his race (he grew up learning them) then would pick two more from his background, which could be Draconic (the language of Dragons and Magic) and Sylvan (the language of fey creatures). Any character can also spend time and money in game to learn more languages later on. There also spells which allow the caster to understand and speak ALL languages for a limited time.
I love at the beginning that Jon and Emile are both just casually playing their 3DS' while Stephen is recording. Something about that is just cool to me.
I remember most of D&D sessions had those moments where it just devolved to hysteric laughter. A particular moment was when one party member was holding onto a dying man in his arms while another party member played My Heart Will Go On on his lute.
🎵 Emile the noble fighter, Tim the folk hero fighter, Jon the lightfoot halfling rouge, and Masae the hill dwarf solider cleric that is cannibal and. Together they will face will go through this mad world for gundrick🎵
I love that you put the title cards where the thing you're quoting is actually said. Makes it easier for you AND the viewers. Wish more vlogs were like yours, stephen.
+Vatal Asome (ZBestGamer) American syrup is very bad quality compared to Canadian, so that might be half the reason, the other half might be he just didn't want it
Ari Zonia The issue isn't the quality of syrup we have in the US, it's that restaurants rarely offer or even have real maple syrup, they just use the fake stuff. I live in Vermont and when ever I go an visit friends in Canada they ask that I bring up a gallon or two of Maple Syrup from our neighbors surgar house (the term for the location where the water is boiled out of the sap and made into syrup), because we can get higher grades (syrup grading is complicated and I can't do it justice with my understanding of how it works) and quality syrup for at least a third of the cost.
+Ezareth I mean that's a pretty logical explanation to it as well. But even the "real" stuff you buy from stores is horrid compared to the Canadian syrup I've had
Chugga at 18:05: "He said 'toMORRRRow." Jon: -.- *thinking* Emile, quit pointing out my Canadian-ness. XD As someone who's lived in the U.S. and Canada, this is amusing to me.
That recording room must have been hell, my room gets bad enough from just having my computer and a single console running simultaneously. On another note, my roommates and I recently started a D&D campaign. Which hilariously began with me and one of my roommates attempting to steal money from a pair of guards, both rolling ones, so we both ended up grabbing their butts instead. I built my character around being deceptive and persuasive, and turned it around by flirting with and subsequently (successfully) asking the guard on a date.
Phandelver! I've always played or run "The players must save the world" games before this one. It taught me a whole new way of writing an adventure. When I played it my group decapitated the Red Brand and rehabilitated them as the city guard for Phandallen. After the module was over my character took over as the head of the guard instead of leaving with the party to new adventures. Good times.
Wow, even before the game started, Emile got a botch. Maybe his dumb luck doesn't apply to D&D. And oh gods...Emile's the fighter?! He's the last guy you'd want kicking down doors and picking fights with other guys! Then again, I'm not sure what class he should have been. He can't sing well enough to be a bard, and while he has the cunning, I don't think he's quiet enough to be good as a thief. Perhaps a cleric or mage would suit him better, given his penchant for magic in Dokapon as well as his knowledge in general...yeah, a cleric/mage who lived a somewhat sheltered life and this relatively innocent to the corrupted world we inhabit...also, sorry Tim, but considering the shit his character has waded through and come out relatively unscathed (physically. Think Dungeonland left some mental scars), Tandem the Spoony deserves that Greatest Swordsman Alive/in the World title.
The game hasn't started, and already one of the team wants to slice the other's throat. Truly, this will be a magical journey. $10 says Emile split the party and that's why he had to climb down that shaft.
When Emile started introducing his character, I absolutely lost it. It was hilarious. But that moment at 9:00-9:05 was pure gold. EDIT: That whole introduction was awesome. I really need to play D&D one day...
I honestly wish we could see the whole D&D session. I really wish I could play D&D (Or any of those games)...but I lack friends that would be able to play with. ;-;
A local tabletop gaming store is a good place if you don't want to play with people from across the world. If you're willing to go online, I hear roll20 is good
Is there a chance of a DnD LP maybe becoming a reality somehwere down the line? I'd be really interested to see the whole thing and not just a couple tids and bits :D
I remember trying to play D&D. My group decided to vote on which way to go at a fork in the road which we all unanimously decided to take the path to a town. Once at the town two of my group decided to try and kill me for not being a leader despite my background saying I was a follower. Good times, good times. Still have the character sheet from that run.
I actually thought that they were talking about an actual experience starting at 4:40. It took me until Jon started talking that I noticed that they were talking about the game. THIS IS HOW MY MIND WORKS PEOPLE!!!

Same here Tim

+NintendoCapriSun No probs, Tim. It actually made me chuckle. :) I tend to call Stephen "God" in this scenario.
+NintendoCapriSun hi tim how was your Christmas? tell stephen about two sisters play majors mask
2:00 - 2:05
Emile: "Going from FOUR swords to FORtune street!"
Jon (without looking up): "Oh my God, Emile..."
Bahaha!!!
Tim is so much more than lawful good, it's amazing how genuine he is.
Lawful Genuine
Am I the only one who actually would want a TRG or Stephen podcast?
I would 100% listen to that.
Yes
it needs to Happen
You got your wish
I mean, we do have Disc Only with Jon, Stephen, Tom Fawkes and 8BitDrummer/Jerod
If there was a series of videos with TRG playing D&D, I would watch the shit out of that!
"What is Universal Health Care?
What are you talking about?
Why do you think your mother tastes like chicken?"
Oh my god, I'm crying!
I love how Emile says a pun and Jon just goes "Oh god" without even looking
Around 3:04 Masae is just sitting there, waiting to see who to kill first with the knife in her purse.
XD Emile named his character "Calibrary!" XD I'm dying! I've got a cramp in my vernacular!
+Firestar1992 do you think he's good friends with Paula Deen
+Chris Koraltan He would have been but she got mad when he forgot her Fiesta Keys to The Garage
+Firestar1992 Calibary Cuff Paula Deen
***** actually albert spelled it right
***** that doesn't mean the actual spelling is right
Tim: I wouldn't want to bring a kid into this world.
Emile slowly turns to look at masea.
ok then...
Ship confirmed.
They both looked at each other for a split second doesn't mean it's a ship
What time
what time ?
I like how everyone has that shy expression and caution that comes from playing DnD in person for the first time.
You know, I half-expected Emile's character to be named Steve.
Knowing three languages is impressive for someone in the US. Meanwhile in Europe, three languages is common. That doesn't mean it's not impressive, considering the relatively small need of learning another language when living in the US, except for maybe Spanish. It's just that the perspective is very different.
+Werewolf211 He was actually referring to his character. _Calibrary_ speaks 3 languages, one of them being Draconic.
StephenVlog Oh... I guess I didn't pay attention. Why settle with 3 then? If you can have multiple, why not go all out?
+Werewolf211 I think it's based on the intelligent stat of the character. Also it doesn't make much sense for a character to know all of the languages
+StephenVlog You sure he wasn't talking about Calibrary Cuff Paula Dean?
Oh.my.god! TRG plays D&D is something I don't think I can handle very often. I will die laughing.
I know. But at the same time I want a series of it.
DND podcasts?
I love at the beginning that Jon and Emile are both just casually playing their 3DS' while Stephen is recording. Something about that is just cool to me.
Chugga has the best and worst luck of all time, at the same time! That natural 1 was amazing!
Of course Emile's character would be named "Calibrary"...
+Headset Guy do you think he's good friends with Paula Deen lol
I wouldn't think they'd be friends as calibrary was the police officer who was told to cuff Paula Dean
+Chris Koraltan Perhaps that was Calibury's mother? After all, Calibury was curious if she tasted like chicken.
I love that you put the title cards where the thing you're quoting is actually said. Makes it easier for you AND the viewers. Wish more vlogs were like yours, stephen.
How very Canadian of Jon to get Pancakes xD
BUT WOTH NO SYURP
+Vatal Asome (ZBestGamer) American syrup is very bad quality compared to Canadian, so that might be half the reason, the other half might be he just didn't want it

Ari Zonia I guess I'm just lucky to live in Vermont then.
Man, these TRG videos that Stephen did makes me really want to hang out with The Runaway Guys :)
I've wanted to also. It'd be awesome to record with my favorite LP group of all time.
+Link Mountaineer SAME

*laughing* What you took a guard on a date
I like how the neutral good cleric is the most violent of the group.
Re-watching some of the old vlogs and I have to say, I would watch a TRG podcast.
Phandelver! I've always played or run "The players must save the world" games before this one. It taught me a whole new way of writing an adventure. They will give him an egg
CALIBRARY. AS IN CALLIBRARY CUFF PAULA DEAN? (if u get that ur awesome)
Aw yeah! :)
XD Nice!
😂😂
I love how nobody noticed that Emile did the intro right considering he intentionally never ends the vlog with its main outro slogan. XD
4:20 tim wins at life
+Aidan Calhoun What did he even say? I couldn't tell.
+CobaltYoshi27 "You're not one of them Christians, are you?"
Zelda Swordman Thanks.
+Aidan Calhoun omg and it's 420 too
hahaaaa
+Umbriel Umbra wins at life by smoking some dank weed
Wow, even before the game started, Emile got a botch. Maybe his dumb luck doesn't apply to D&D.

$10 says Emile split the party and that's why he had to climb down that shaft.
What did Emile say at 9:00? I can't tell if it's just gibberish or not.
I think he was trying to speak another language
He was, and he explained what he meant.
I would watch a full session of DND with all of you in it. and I would probably die of laughter within the first hour.
When Emile started introducing his character, I absolutely lost it. It was hilarious. But that moment at 9:00-9:05 was pure gold.
EDIT: That whole introduction was awesome. I really need to play D&D one day...
Masae's character sounds like a carnivorous Midna. o_____O
I love how I can laugh my butt off without knowing what's going on
I honestly wish we could see the whole D&D session.
I really wish I could play D&D (Or any of those games)...but I lack friends that would be able to play with. ;-;
A local tabletop gaming store is a good place if you don't want to play with people from across the world. If you're willing to go online, I hear roll20 is good
i would LOVE to see this full session O.O
Also, this Vlog is the first time Emile ever gets anything related to the Vlog correct.
I'd love to see TRG play more D&D in any capacity, it's something I've dream of for a long time.
Man I CRIED with laughter at certain points during this!
The amusement I get out of Chuggaa figuring out how his PC met Jon's is paining mine sides.
4:09 This is not a renaissance fair
Mellow mushroom is the best. You should really try it. The establishment is really cool atmosphere and food wise
I love DnD! Playing through that same adventure right now!
15:37. Pause. Look at Emile. Just, look at him. And youll know.
The Canadian ate the most pancakes, like a true Canadian, just need extra syrup. XD
It's great watching you all having so much fun ^^
"It's a very hard game to play, unless you have lots of people"
....Just like Dutch Blitz!
I would pay to see you guys all play D&D. as a whole 6 hour series.
EMILE IS CALIBRARY WHERE'S PAULA DEEN CAN I HAVE SOME FIESTA KEYS TO THE GARAGE IN THE METROPOLITAN MUTANT OF ARK
Man now one of my goals in life is to play dungeons and dragons with them.....this pretty awesome.
What does Tim say at 11:23?
Chenzys Videos "you don't even know how she died"
Ohhhh man. I would have LOVED to maybe play a game of D&D with these guys. It's just as well, I haven't played D&D in _years_ anyway.
I like how Jon was going to actually look up the end of a vlog for a sec there.
Jon protecting his giant stack of pancakes has to be one the funniest things I've seen today.
I'm super excited for future D&D!
4:17 - 4:24 OH!!!!!!!!!
I'm like 1:36 in the video and I love Jon's shirt. Too bad he wasn't eating eggs
You will give me an egg. I love your montages by the way. Watched and re watched.
Well thanks. I plan to move them to a different channel
+Gamie Master You're welcome. I hope you decide to keep making them. Good TRG clips!
I don't think I will because I want people to sub and watch me for my work. The TRG videos aren't really mine
You should do a Q&A with these guys one day. Would be cool.
What does Emile say at 9:00?
Even though everything was being explained for the game for everyone, I still had no idea what was going on.
All you need to know is high numbers equals good and low equals bad. And if to ur dm rolls a d20 and starts smiling be ready to find that outhouse
Wut?
What was the movie Tim was referencing during D&D?
+Aidan Forero it's called Willow
Thanks
3:44. It’s funny bc Jon always gets the lower roll on Wii Party. 😂😂
Masae at 3:08, the embodiment of excitement
8:58 Man you can just feel the tension of that room XD Chugga you've got competition.
where is the four swords let's play? I can't find it
They record far in advance, expect to see it late 2016 - early-to-mid 2017
it should be up some time after mario party 5 i think
It's out now!
I watch this again and
Tim looks like everyone's dad and it's great
Is there a chance of a DnD LP maybe becoming a reality somehwere down the line? I'd be really interested to see the whole thing and not just a couple tids and bits :D
These guys.. are literally living the life.
What was Emile saying at 9:01? Just before the 'suck on that'
I remember trying to play D&D. My group decided to vote on which way to go at a fork in the road which we all unanimously decided to take the path to a town. Once at the town two of my group decided to try and kill me for not being a leader despite my background saying I was a follower. Good times, good times. Still have the character sheet from that run.
So are you telling me that Emile knows your intro but not the outro ?
I actually thought that they were talking about an actual experience starting at 4:40. It took me until Jon started talking that I noticed that they were talking about the game. THIS IS HOW MY MIND WORKS PEOPLE!!!
Emile: *Calibrary* (cuff Paula Deen)
Hey what does Tim say at around 4:20 to 4:25
We (my family) played the lost mines of phandelvar just last week! What a coincidence!
This reminds me of game nights with my family, actually, especially when my brother and sister-and-law are around.
If this were a sitcom, it would kill the big bang theory.
What did Tim say from 4:19 to 4:21?
"You're not one of them Christians, are you?"
I really need to learn how to play D&D, I feel like me and my friends adventures would be similar to this.
+Ryan Henderson
+Silent Insanity
While the player's handbook costs money, dnd 5th edition has a free basic rules pdf that can help you get started. i had that before i got my basic materials, 5th edition is the best one to get into but once you learn the basic rules of 5th edition you can head into really any system out there, from pathfinder to GURPS to numinera to all the various editions of dnd. all you need are the basic rules and your nearby library or comic store, pathfinder society and dungeons and dragons both can host events there so it's relatively easy to dive in especially dnd.
Would you ever consider doing a how to on D&D?
too bad you guys dident make this a regular thing i cant imagine what kind of twisted d&d world you guys would come up with
Stephen I want u to tell everyone to say get well Jake cuz I have been sick since New Year's Eve and I'm still not better but if u do do this it will make me a lot happier. Jake Williams
Someone, please animate this.
+StephenVlog what campaign are you guys playing?
Holy crap! Did Emile gain weight? I remember when he was really scrawny now he weighs more like a 26 year old male should weigh. And watching TRG play D&D is something I never thought I'd see. Good show Stephen! You too, Mal!
Would love to see more of this day. Was it posted anywhere else by chance?
ok, Emile layed down the intro, now he only needs the outro and we're good!
That's a far more interesting start than I've had throughout my campaigns. Oh Chugga. Question for you Stephen: Do you have a dice tower? They aren't necessary, but I've found they help with errant dice trying to escape the table.
Does anyone know what Emile said
+Vatal Asome (ZBestGamer) yes.
Then can you inform me
Vatal Asome no.
Plz I am so confused
Should have payed attention.
You guys make me wish I had friends.
Tim was really feeling it with the D&D lol
very awkward notice of chuggaa at 15:36
SirDarkMaster I NOTICED IT TOO THANK YOU
3:49-3:51 Emile becomes Jon, and Kirby is concerned
how ironic the cannibal is the main healer of the group.
I wonder if one of the extras was somehow Tetra's Trackers, becuase it would be pretty awesome if they could play that.
So we won't see this LP until next October, right?
I guess you could say Gundrick was CAUGHT WITH HIS PANTS DOWN.
