Hiii! ❤ first off I want to say I love your channel. I find you to have such a nice calming presence. I'm not sure what it is, but I only watch a few channels and yours has quickly become one of them. So I know you aren't supposed to change your list, but I wanted to share how I handled my yarn purchases for no buy year. I started knitting in 2023 and became addicted. I put yarn on my yellow list for 2024 with the caviot to only buy yarn for specific projects and only do one project at a time. I feel like knitting is very relaxing for me and it's a healthy hobby to spend money on as long as I'm being mindful. I hope that helps. 🧶
I loved the thought process behind your decision to hold on the boba and accepting the fact you weren't intentional while purchasing the book. That being said, your updates help to reflect how I've been doing in the no buy year and I'm pretty proud.
thank you!! and I'm so glad! it's really all about just learning how to be aware of what we're spending money on, and flexing the muscle of reflection just helps us be more intentional 💗 I'm glad your no buy year is going well
Crochet is great! You can thrift sweaters for the yarn. Also no-buy groups, fb marketplace and offer up people are always getting rid of yarn. Also most patterns are free or dirt cheap and digital, or you can always checkout books from the library. Enjoy your new hobby!
I just want to say, I really love these videos. I've been doing a low-buy/intentional buy year starting in December 2023 and I have been following along with your uploads and it has given me such a great sense of community and accountability. Thank you so much, you have made such a positive impact in my life :)
I’m not even doing a no-buy/low-buy year, but I’ve been enjoying playing your videos in the background while I do chores (kinda body doubling vibes). I’m a similar age and like the overall themes of living intentionally and you have a good vibe!
In January I watched several no buy videos, yours was the plan I considered, thanks, I've been doing great, except mentioned to my friend item I wanted, she bought it and I paid it,but it really made me feel I had failed. But I'm still committed. My no buy ends in June, I'm so motivated I will really think hard about every purchase. Thanks
I can't wait to see your crochet creations 😍 there's so much yarn on the secondhand market I'm sure you'll find a good way to enjoy this wonderful hobby!
that was so sweet of your man but like you said, a one off isn't the problem, the problem is when the one offs become a habit and end up costing 100s at the end of the year. Stay strong girly, you're doing amazingly well!
fair to say, I probably could have taken his offer and been fine bc it had been a long time since I had it but I also kind of wanted the challenge to try and make it 😂💗
P.s.: I am cancelling 2 streaming services. Also, my son was in NYC last week with a group of students and they went to 2 Broadway plays - off Broadway technically but it made me think of you and your theater job. I even told my son about your job.
Aww I loved your energy in this video 💜 the trips and experiences must have given you a real boost! I absolutely failed my no/low buy for March. Bought myself a stupidly overpriced perfume (plus some other things my brain said I needed) and by the end of it I regretted it and didn’t feel that great about it. A big lesson to help me continue on and appreciate what I have 🥰
@@gracenevittaw thank you Grace 😊 was a good lesson to help me see that buying did no make me feel good. Something that will help keep me going 💜 just like your videos!
On the topic of boba, you might check out your local Asian grocery stores and see if they have packs of premade boba. There's a Vietnamese Supermarket near where I live in Kansas that sells pretty much anything you'd need to run an Asian restaurant, including tapioca starch and like big packs of the balls that I think you just need to boil. You could just prep a couple cups of them, store the rest in the fridge and add what you need to your drink. Since you live in NYC, it should be easier to find there vs here.
So glad you've fallen in love with crochet! I'd highly recommend seeing if there are charity/second-hand shops that have yarn/tools but also check online. I've been lucky enough to get quite a few supplies from people off facebook market place that just wanted the stuff gone, so it was free! Often there are also crochet and knitting communities where you can get some stuff for free.
I haven't been doing a -no buy- per se/low buy, but I'm paying half as much in rent this month since I moved in with a roommate, and I'm *freaking stoked* about it.
Doing great this month. Also no strong temptations but it is probably because spring is in the air. Lots of purchases this month but zero “shopping”. Went to Marshall’s for hand cream - they have expensive brands on the cheap. I especially love Korean products. They are leading the way in beauty research and technology. Also went to get some Easter candy for my grown son who was coming for dinner. So proud! My bill was 20!!! That was for 2 kinds of Easter candy, some fun dental floss flavors, and a hand cream. Did not even go into any other part of the store. Getting pretty good at this. I did have to buy a new lip balm which I ordered on Amazon - got a pack of 6 for $20 and they are so good. All made in Hawaii out of Hawaiian ingredients and oils. Good, thrifty purchase. Oops! Just realized I told a lie. I ordered hand cream - again well priced, but it did not arrive before I went to Marshall’s so now I have extra hand cream. I use it all the time though so it won’t be around for long on my lizard scaly skin. But I now have 2 extra. Oh well, that’s still pretty good for a whole month. But Rats! I thought I had 0 dollars in non-essential purchases. Thus far this year I have struggled in the same months you have. I wonder how much of the shopping urge is generally happening at the same time of the year for everybody? Interesting thought. March was much easier. Thinking of starting the Swedish Death Cleaning method for spring. Nothing takes the shopping desire away faster than realizing how much crap I already own that I do not know what to do with. Wondering if I should count the green tea I ordered from Harney tea? I have a whole lot of tea but I was perishing for some green tea which I did not have. Matcha Iri Genmaicha is what I was craving. Black tea is not so good for the health. Side bar, I brought 8 boxes of David’s Tea that was in flavors I was never going to drink to my PT appointments and they all went home with someone else. Yay! They were sweet flavors like maple French toast which I realized after I bought them that I would not like. I don’t drink sweet tea. What was I thinking? A shopping frenzy from when I was in the David’s shop in Boston. Their Cold 911 and Santa’s Secret are awesome for when we are under the weather so that part of the purchase was good. Here’s to a successful April! 🥂🥂
Hi! I’ve recently found your channel and I’ve finally caught up on all your videos. I love your vibe and you’ve inspired me to live a happier life :) you’re amazing!

Love your videos! Quick tip on your doggie.. I use the flea and tick collars.. they are cheaper and they last 8months.. also safer for your dogs skin! It's a win win❤❤ Ps your bf is so sweet but your right you don't need the tea! Make it yourself!
Thank you so much for this again encouraging video❤. I love your style of putting things together. Absolutely recognizable 😅 I wanted to join from the start but the first two months I dived into survival mode and thought I needed a lot of things so I could not make it as planned 😢. But then I found a friend to join me and now we are making process in this process. The urge to buy is getting down and my brain is slowly resetting. So happy to hear you also crochet😊. Thanks again for your content it is helping me a lot😊
I'm feeling very conflicted this month. If I wouldn't have gotten my tax return, I would have been almost $100 over budget this month. I definitely bought some home decor items that were on my red light list. I'm trying to justify these items as they were things I've thought about for a few months that filled incomplete spots in my home and bought them secondhand. I also bought a game that was on sale, which is allowed on my green light list, but it wasn't a game on my wishlist. I kinda regret buying it as I still have lots of other games I can play that I already own. Groceries really put me over this month. We've been doing much better eating less takeout, but I swear I can't keep up with inflation. I may have splurged this month, but aside from that it's honestly getting harder and harder to save as everything keeps rising. I've already budgeted for as low as I possibly can.
My husband says he’s my “loophole” and will take me to dinner or get me a fountain Diet Coke. I feel like this is a slippery slope for me because I’m getting what I want, not what I need, which is part of why I’m doing a no-buy year. So I’m going to be more mindful and say no to him a little more.
I totally get that!! Ray is definitely a bit of a loophole for me every so often, but saying no to most of his offers has been a good practice to keep me on track with my goals and the mindfulness I'm trying to cultivate 🥰
New subsrciber here!! Can you make a video for us who are just starting "no buy"? I'm really excited for your journey. You have wisdome and great "real" energy that inspires me!! Sending love from Belgrade, Serbia ❤❤✨✨✨✨✨✨
yes!! I would love to! I'll probably do a video at the beginning of june for the people joining us halfway through the year and to remind the people who have been doing it this whole time to recommit and reflect on how it's been so far!
This is a bit of a stretch and might be a bit much but just saying, you have a dog that sheds so technically you'd be able to make yarn yourself 👀 I mean, depends how far you're willing to go with your no buy and how much time you have and I know it's not easy/you might still need to buy tools so maybe not ideal. But just saying, it's possible 🤗😂😂
Hi I have a question… is there anyway I could send you some yarn? I have some extra yarn that I don’t want and I was thinking of you when I decided to get rid of it… instead of giving it to a thrift shop I could give it to you! I have a ball of pink thicker yarn and two Alf skeins of grey yarn and might have a bit more of some random stuff not sure but just thought I’d ask!
that's SO sweet, but I wouldn't want you to have to pay for shipping! there's probably plenty of places you can donate it to (people, charities, or shops) in your area 🥰 I found a lovely neighbor that has tons of extra yarn, so I'm all set on that front, but I truly appreciate your generosity and kindness!! 💗💗
I love that you’re mentioning the temperatures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. Inclusive icon
Literally! Thank you for doing this!
Same!!!! I was about to comment that

My heart melted when Ray gave you the money to get boba. He was so sweet!!! I hope Flip is feeling better! 💜

Glad to see that this month was less rough than February ❤
very glad about that too haha
