Erica Schultz did alright on Hallows' Eve. Janine wasn't suddenly a girl boss getting validation from everybody. She was scared, weak at times, she made mistakes, she was conflicted between wanting to be a hero and wanting to hate Peter for what she thought was his betrayal of Ben. I'm not saying it was comic book of the year, but Schultz didn't come across as one of these activist types like the Tini Howards or Alyssa Wongs of the the world. Maybe she does in the Electra Daredevil books, which I am not reading. That said, I still have no idea why they didn't hand Hallows' Eve over to J. M. DeMatteis, who was writing for Marvel at the time and created the character in the first place (at least, he created Janine Godbe).
1. Time for Marvel to rename Sam Wilson The Sky Captain 2. If they’re going to insist on these constant mantle swaps, at the VERY least, retire the original 3. Champions was a decent book. In the 70s. At least they’re not ruining the New Warriors name again
I thought we all realized that putting Carol in any place of power was a bad thing way back during Civil War 2. Also, Wanda and Magneto already dealt their history. They had an entire arc dedicated to that *only a few years* back. Why do writers keep ignoring whenever the Scarlet Witch deals with her issues.
I’m firm believer that Marvel knows these fail ideas aren’t working and they are just hey it’s marvel it will sell. That’s not the case, they understand that they need to hire better writers and editors.
This would've been their shot. DC has been disappointing me, for almost 15 years now. Marvel has the chance to call over to a disappointed DC fan, but they're doing the same things. Stupid events, trying their best to devalue the heroes that built their success, and hiring people who clearly hate superheroes and the fans. Some may claim to love it, but then go on a tangent about how they don't see themselves in the book. So, let's just change everything. So what if you'd rather see heroes team up rather than fight, and classic heroes leading the charge, or positive relationships, or villains that are just villains instead of "misunderstood" lost souls. Tough. You're getting the skewed "Good is Bad and Bad is Good" perspective, and no heroes come out better, following the event. In fact, people are turned off. I stopped reading Marvel even before I stopped reading DC. I see now that there's no reason to give them another chance. Strictly DC back issues, still.
Look at them STILL trying to troll the fans.LOLz. Captain Marvel, Black P, Replacement Captain America all prominently featured & the lone white male getting his behind beaten. I can’t wait NOT to read this. 🤣I love GROUNDHOG DAY!
I'm curious, when is Wonder Woman going to take up the mantle of Batman. If Marvel and DC think that female characters are all second rate, why not make move them over?
WAS AvX a Bendis book? I barely remember that crap, but it was too edgy for a Bendis book... It might have been Aaron or something. I could be wrong, Marvel's not even worth the google search.
House of ideas? More like house of recycling... so the new legacy chatecters they keep forcing on us have never worked so instead of doing a cool champions book they give us younger versions of gender swaps??? It's like not even funny anymore..do they not see their own sales numbers? Is no one looking at the sales? No one? Not one person at marvel? No one has a job to look how things are selling? Did they get rid of that guy? It's weird ...did they become a non profit some where? They aren't into selling comics? What's going on ?
Hot take. A large part of the problem to me is creators and some fans refusal to acknowledge that not every character has what it takes to be an MC. Many characters are designed to serve secondary roles and there should be no shame in it. Electra is a side character to Daredevil, Falcon is a side character to Captain America.
Tbh I would like to see more Gwenpool comics. I really do like the character. But the problem is also that I’m not sure that I would trust any of the writer currently in marvel. Hopefully one day they’ll give her character a good run. I really think her power is cool.

I feel like knowing Marvel comics history, specifically the good old writers and their stories, should be a job requirement for marvel as long as new stories are new and respect the past. This applies not just for marvel, but all comics publishers
I was going to give uncanny X-men a chance but it’s already having a crossover 7-8 issues in. I don’t want to buy multiple books, I don’t care about these events. Uncanny X-men is also pushing a group of new characters. If I wanted to read about kid mutants then I would read exceptional x-men.
@@davidgantenbein9362 yeah. I feel like they are using a lot of titles just to push these newer characters. Like tricking us to buy a comic thinking it’s about the character we like and we get some crappy new character we don’t care about for the majority of the book.
@@ryanwilliams7639 That has definitely become a major issue for buyers. But it’s also a trap for them as those buyers that lost trust will not buy purely on covers/characters anymore. The more an industry forces buyers to invest time into research, the less likely becomes impulsive buying and the amount of sales goes down (not everyone will invest so much time into research). Bait and switch is ultimately a strategy that forces buyers to adapt and adapting often means buying less.
The reason that I don't hear anyone talking about that wokestream comics just keep getting worse seemingly unchecked is because Disney and WB (respectively) can just write off Marvel and DC (respectively) as vanity projects.
No one visits the fictional world (comics, books, movies) to have hardcore ideology, uninspiring, fake and lazy stories thrown to their faces. That's Marvel/DC reality after the start of year 2014. It would be easier if these modern "creators" just started their own company where even by making original and some rip-off characters make everything exactly like they wanted with no "legacy" attached to it. Hard to say if - they can't or don't want to create a new world with new possibilities. Easy to make themselves and their potential audience happy.
I didn’t like neither the book or movie version of Stardust. I like both the movie and book version of The Princess Bride. Something that you neglected to say was that the William Goldman wrote both the book and the movie.
Marvel always dominated the collectors side of the business. If their books are bad, but make top positions, there is a chance that readers left the market, while collectors stayed. I don’t read their books, so I don’t know of their currently bad or good, but this is a potential alternative explanation.
@@davidgantenbein9362 I doubt speculators could make up that much of the audience. if the general public aren't buying something, speculators aren't going to either

We see what happens to IP when those contracts are iron-clad with Star Wars EU, at least Marvel is still running the 616 universe
Those people see superheroes like colorful action figures in a box, that they couldn't play , but now can, and use them without any knowledge nor respect, just like your little sister with your GIjoes!
Correct. It's called the toy box mentality
Marvin: Wendy, remember when we offered Super Friends PSA's?
Wendy: Now our heroes tell fans WHAT to think, not HOW to think.
Booster Gold: Well, I don't think...
Guy Gardner: Of course you don't.
1. Time for Marvel to rename Sam Wilson The Sky Captain
2. If they’re going to insist on these constant mantle swaps, at the VERY least, retire the original
3. Champions was a decent book. In the 70s. At least they’re not ruining the New Warriors name again
Ten Years to Ruin an Industry.
Ten Years to wait for the Day it gets forcibly taken back Piece by piece.
Continue to watch sales crater...😥
I thought we all realized that putting Carol in any place of power was a bad thing way back during Civil War 2. Also, Wanda and Magneto already dealt their history. They had an entire arc dedicated to that *only a few years* back. Why do writers keep ignoring whenever the Scarlet Witch deals with her issues.
If only Human Cloning was allowed....I would bring back Dave Cockrum at the very least just to get some decent X-Men stories.
Indeed. It's more of the same from 2014/2015😒😔. So much for "BRAND new ideas and storylines" 😅
Have Dok review all of these. He will dispatch himself to an insane asylum!
Lol facts!
That's too bad, I liked Jim McKay on Wild World of Sports
It seems that no matter how much folks may be pushing back these bad ideas come back anyway in one form or another.
I’ve honestly come to terms with things in comics just repeating over and over. I’m only reading complete runs now that have quality reviews.
That was about the same time Marvel was either losing or fucking over their best writers for lesser ones
I’m firm believer that Marvel knows these fail ideas aren’t working and they are just hey it’s marvel it will sell. That’s not the case, they understand that they need to hire better writers and editors.
I'm a falcon-cap fan, and you sir have some very valid points! 👂🏾📝
Ten years and they haven't realised that Captain Falcon isn't working. Falcon, Elektra and X-23 don't need other people's identities.
You can't do what there doing Hollywood. It should be the other way always
Meet the old boss, same as the old boss.
I remember when the same ideas werent recycled every decade.
It's for the modern audience (tm)
That art looks plain as fck!!! Like Jim Lee’s layouts!!!!
I'm curious, when is Wonder Woman going to take up the mantle of Batman.
If Marvel and DC think that female characters are all second rate,
why not make move them over?
WAS AvX a Bendis book? I barely remember that crap, but it was too edgy for a Bendis book...
It might have been Aaron or something. I could be wrong, Marvel's not even worth the google search.
Yes, it WAS
House of ideas? More like house of recycling... so the new legacy chatecters they keep forcing on us have never worked so instead of doing a cool champions book they give us younger versions of gender swaps??? It's like not even funny anymore..do they not see their own sales numbers? Is no one looking at the sales? No one? Not one person at marvel? No one has a job to look how things are selling? Did they get rid of that guy? It's weird ...did they become a non profit some where? They aren't into selling comics? What's going on ?
Simple: Disney is providing the money for them to keep going, just so long as they keep pushing "The Message" in their comics
I really think her power is cool.
wokies and their politics killed off comics with : desexualization/uglification/raceswap/feminism/lgbt/hateofrightwingers/dei and unability to separate fiction from reality, bendis always makes black token characters and 2024 it got old pretty fast😂🎉
Once you lose fans it is incredibly difficult to get them back. Are we now witnessing the death knell of Marvel and DC?
They had freakin' Hyperion in 18, and not one punch thrown. I'm done
Daredevil has sucked for years now. :(
You need to have a regular show on cancelled DC and Marvel comics, review what went wrong with them.
Peak Bendis and then Brubaker had that comic firing on cylinders for years on end... And it's mostly sucked for over a decade since
2014 , Marvels last good creative year . Ms. Marvel and Spider -Gwen first appearances and series !
I feel like knowing Marvel comics history, specifically the good old writers and their stories, should be a job requirement for marvel as long as new stories are new and respect the past. This applies not just for marvel, but all comics publishers
Meh. Easy to say no to these titles especially at these prices.
Sam Wilson: Captain African-American
New Champions: Are Snowflake and Safe Space going to show up?
I was going to give uncanny X-men a chance but it’s already having a crossover 7-8 issues in. I don’t want to buy multiple books, I don’t care about these events. Uncanny X-men is also pushing a group of new characters. If I wanted to read about kid mutants then I would read exceptional x-men.
Where has brand recognition gone to, it used to be New Mutants for kid mutants?
Cyclops vs Captain Marvel... hmm i wonder how that will go in modern marvel.
What a surprise another Marvel event. When comics don’t do well for Marvel
I didn’t like neither the book or movie version of Stardust.
I like both the movie and book version of The Princess Bride. Something that you neglected to say was that the William Goldman wrote both the book and the movie.
Marvel still have 7 titles in the top 10 for August, so they must be doing something right
Marvel always dominated the collectors side of the business.
@@richardhunter132 Collectors don’t need to be speculators. The speculators boom was in the 90s. A lot of the collectors are fans since decades and just keep on buying their favorite series to not have a hole in their collection. They collect, because that’s a natural habit of humans, not because they speculate on money.
@@davidgantenbein9362 I don't believe that there's that many people who are buying comics and then not reading them
Elektra is not Daredevil, Matt Murdock is. Enough already Marvel 🤦♂️
I got no problem with Falcon Cap
