The owner of at least three high-rise condo towers with reputedly "the best view in the city" being afraid of heights - that's the best part of this for me ^^
@corinnefogarty7880 It's not slander if it's true. All she'd be doing is giving these other landlords a heads up on her. Then it's on them if they still wish to rent/sell to her. As long as she keeps just to the facts she'd be fine.
That’s not slander, since he is a landlord it is well in his right to alert other realtors of a hostile client and the fact she has a previous negative track record. Plus what she was doing to him, by calling him poor. Now that would be slander and a lawsuit can be issued against Clarice instead.
"What's his job and what's his salary?!" The way Clarice demanded to know .... Just wow. I would never even think to pry into someone's business like that. Then her insistence that Jennifer's husband was merely a "worker drone" and poor ... Clarice is simply awful.
If some one asks about your earnings its simpel , hè makes mony, and give a comment to the blabberish woman, and you lay on your back hole day???then they back off 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Listening to Clarice reminds me of an old joke of George Carlin "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” Clarice falls into the later category.
What is Clarice's problem? She has no right asking questions about Jennifer's financial situation, or questioning her husband's work life. Clarice's condescending tone would get her cut off. I feel sorry for Christy and Allie.
It wouldn't have made for a very exciting story, but in reality, any dialog between Clarice and myself would have ended about a minute in to the story.
Right? I know of someone who is fabulously wealthy but dresses like he lives in an old trailer while he actually has enough money that he had a mansion built for himself. He even paid to have an old railroad bridge moved onto his property to give him a shorter path to the main highway into town.
I find it very odd that it's so important to find out about your spouses earnings. That is NO ONE'S business but you and your spouse. Poor or rich is nobody's business but your own.
What part of "you are not allowed to purchase a condo" do you not understand? ( clearly a serious attempt to blast a hole in Clarice's cognitive armor ) Clarice: I get it, you're sorry for rejecting me given how poor you are, I understand. Jennifer: F*ck! Are you blind, deaf, or stupid? You and your husband are not getting the condo because you are bad neighbours!
Clarice was just a trouble maker thinking she was above everyone else with her thinking her husband making a lot money but her terrible attitude towards neighbors and her record had to move in with in-laws, serves her good
If I were Jennifer when Clarice asked (after she finally found out the truth), I would answer in a harsh tone; “You were doing all the talking and didn’t give me the chance to explain properly. You kept insisting that my husband is a poor worker drone, even if I did correct you or try to explain directly to you every single time! In other cases, you never listened to me!”
Clarice thinks she's entitled and better than everyone else. Thankfully Jennifer won't budge in giving out anymore information than necessary. She's probably run into several people who are like Clarice ,who are like those insects that get under your skin and just don't want to let go. 😒 Very annoying pests.
Uhm, the majority of the homes in the country are "used!" "Doesn't really matter to me..." If that's the case, why is my life and lifestyle have anything to do with you? Nor do I need to INFORM you of anything. Okay, you want to dig into my life, let me ask YOU some extremely personal questions... "We terminated our contract already..." Did you voluntarily terminate the contract or were you evicted?
I don't see the fascination to live in a high rise or tower. The higher you are, the more difficult it is to exit a building during an emergency. If you have mobility issues, it is a nightmare. Ladders only go so high during a fire. With so many people in one place the higher the chance of an accidental fire. That was my biggest fear when I lived in a apartment buildings. The kids in one place I lived used to hit the fire alarm several times a week. It got to the point where people didn't bother evacuating. A while after I moved, there was a fire in the building I lived in. Everyone got out, but some had to be told there was a fire because they thought it was another prank.
That's true then was a bad fire in a high rise block of flats in London England. A few years back those that lived above where the fire started . Not many got out alive when the fire was still blazig .the block of flats are still standing as a memorial .to those poor people who didn't make it out alive .saw it on the news asit happened . As I'm from England
It's a real fear! And for me, completely irrational. One day, I will be using the ladders to get something from the attic, the next day, I will freak out on the bottom rung when getting something from the top of the kitchen cupboard. I never realised how odd it was until I was stuck on a ladder at my afterschool job, and one of the staff was laughing at me while the other was trying to coach me down. The one coaching me went ballistic at the laugher cause I was in tears by the time I got to the bottom (they had to call an adult to get me). I'd been up there the day before & was fine. That day, I actually had time to think about what I was doing.
@briannamcdaniel266 this was in 1998. No one got fired for bullying or anything like that in those days. Not from weekend/afterschool jobs. But she did quit a few months later. She fell out with the only other member of staff who worked weekends, and tried to turn me against her, which was never gonna happen due to the other girl being one of my sisters best friends! Lol 🤣
Me personally, I prefer my own house. It's paid in full. previously I had a condo with a HOA. So my house, my rules. Also Clarice, other my grown daughters and the IRS, why do your need to know my income?
Clarice sounds like someone from my first day program that no one liked. We even had a sayIng pull a Diana which meant break a rule on purpose. Mainly the no peanut butter rule. She told everyone she was joining the program I joined after I moved in with in my aunt. They said she was too high functioning which was partially true. They used the same thing on me which if you know me is wrong. I got in because of Nepotism basically my Grammy Jeanine went there before she died. The program director at the time loved her and pulled some strings to get me in. The people who left my first day program were glad Diana didn't make it in the program I went after that one. No one really liked her. its not quite the same situation but it reminded of that situation. The reason for the no peanut butter rule a very disabled woman who was allergic. She couldn't talk so no peanut butter was allowed. Actually nepotism was the reason I got in my first day program as well my aunt worked there before. If it wasn't for that I couldn't get in any program. Unfortunately I don't have that luxury in the state I live in now. They claim I'm too high Functioning despite the fact I read at a third grade level and can't write. My mom even works in disability services and can't get me into a program. I was lucky before I had to move though.
>"According to him, the only things that like heights are birds and smoke.XD" Sounds like someone he was almost the landlord of, Clarice's plans up in smoke
I agree totally. So many of these stories are lauding living in a high rise box. Neighbors are way too close. If the towers are high enough, they sway in the wind. Risk planes flying into them. Fire conflagration is a terrifying possibility. Maintenance fees are probably unaffordable not to mention the initial cost. HOA restrictions. No thanks. Your own house on your own land - far more impressive.
Tall, well educated and good paying job? One is a judgment call depending on your height. Two can be improved on. I don't think any of them help a marriage without good ethics and love.
...what kind of parents Christy have?! A mother who constantly causes trouble to her own neighbors and a father who enables his wife's behavior?! Just think of the poor girl who had to deal with the rumors!
What a gas lighter!! She really does think she’s better than anyone! I’d tell her None of your business you digger!! 😮who cares if a person lives in a house, I’d rather do that! Narcissist! 😮 she won’t stop! How rude! 😮
So Clarice wants to live on the top floor of a very tall building. She'd better not stand too close to the edge, cause with her mindset, she probably thinks she can fly. Clarice should be sued for verbal harassment. Her name should be RUMOR.
Clarice got taught something she hasn’t been told before and that is the word ‘No’ and realised if you’re going to act like an ass you’ll get treated like one, no matter how much money she has. Another fitting punishment would be Clarice’s husband divorcing her after the trouble she caused which would make her penniless in the end
Too much trouble. Not worth it for OP and her husband. They don't need the money nor the hassle. Sounds like Clarice and her husband ended up moving far enough away to not be trouble for OP anymore.
I genuinely feel bad for people who are afraid of heights. There is no view like a view from the top of the world. A tall building, a mountain top, whatever. Going to a hotel in Manhattan, lots of the buildings have small ledges outside the windows where you can climb out and sit. Great smoking section in non smoking rooms.
I mean, I know its just a story, but in real life that conversation would have been over in three minutes or less, and the nosy woman would have been blocked and dropped. No sane person would want to engage in the same circular argument over and over.
Yes, but she also has her entire head stuck up her ass. It would be hard to do both of those things at the same time, so she must do them alternatively.
Clarice needs to focus on her own family and leave OP and her family alone. How brazen do you have to be to interrogate an acquaintance about their personal finances. And she keeps going on and on and not letting it go.
OMG, this gives me second-hand rage. It's so rude to pry into someone's finances. I hear these stories, and wonder why the "good guy" doesn't tell their so-called friend to shove it up their old wazoo.
Are they renting or buying? You can't own an entire CONDO building where each unit is independently owned. If you are renting out the units you can own the entire building. This one was soooo confusing. Buy...rent...which one was it?
Somebody owns the entire building and sells or leases/rents out the individual units. And there is usually a manager that handles maintenance and services.
That depends on how words are used - the missing element is buying a lease. An apartment building can be jointly owned by the occupiers, individual apartments can be leased from a building owner for a fixed number of years (which some people confuse with 'ownership'), or rented.
Why does anyone entertain this conversation with Clarice anyway? I'd tell her it was none of her business and block her. But then, there'd be no story here.
Where someone works & how much money they make is no one outside of the marriage’s business You can tell these stories aren’t written by someone in the US. All this emphasis on how much money someone makes. Not considered polite to talk about how much money someone has/earns. Actually considered to be very crass and rude in the US
I worked with a lovely lady for many years and she never once mentioned that she was married or had children. Because it was none of her coworkers or the clients we were taking care of , business
I love that closing comment about height, birds and smoke. I have a great fear of heights, except when I am in the front left hand seat (of the plane, perhaps doing aerobatics).
Clarice did have an option here, bring a lawsuit against Jennifer and her husband for Housing Discrimination if they don't give in and give her and her family a condo quick. As in, within 24 hours. A court could enter judgment against Jennifer and husband stating their personal dispute with Clarice is not a legal basis for denying her application for the condo and therefore under equal rights law and housing rights law she is entitled to an opportunity to get the condo if financially able to do so. The background check revealing her problems with her previous neighbors the court could tell them to disregard as a basis to deny her application and also impose sanctions for invasion of privacy. How's that for a plot twist, court ORDERS Jennifer and her husband to let Clarice and her family get the condo, 2 years RENT FREE, must pay all utilities FOR THEM for TWO YEARS, write letters of apology to Clarice, get them notarized and copies filed with the court clerk. Must make themselves available either personally or through a maintenance company at her beck and call FOR FREE, for also TWO YEARS. Any other things she might need, they must be at her call for the same two years, regardless of personal plans. Soul crushing despair for Jennifer and her husband basically making them Clarice's court ordered slaves. They also must pay for Clarice's attorney fees from the court case, WITH INTEREST. I would like to see something like this because good guys don't always win. Karens win a good amount of the time.
I am a modern 21st century individual who is multi-talented and multi-tasking. I am a schoolteacher, self-employed after school part time tutor, and an investor. To hell? Well, that would be my response if someone who felt entitled pestered me about moving into the place I owned
I agree 💯 percent with you
"He's afraid of heights"! that was the best part!!! 😆
“He’s afraid of heights!”. Oh, how I love this!!!!
If I were Jennifer's husband, I would have black-listed them and shared the info to all property owners and real-esatte agents.
Karma: "Mehhhh!"
that is probably what had happened since Clarice and her husband were living at her in-law’s place

Less maintenance on a condo!! Are you serious? The condos where I live, well, let's just say that the quarterly strata fees would cripple your wallet.
"Less maintenance on a condo!!"? Translation: "We do it so you don't have to, but you will pay for the 'privilege'."
I was thinking the same. Fees of these complexes are no joke!

It was her husband’s money.
Wow. She's a lot. And had way more patience than me. But. Poor Christy. I hope Clarice's hubby is a decent father. That poor kiddo.
Oh the irony of the husband he owns the tallest condo buildings but is afraid of heights 😂
😂😂😂 I was thinking the same! Hope he never has to inspect them. 😂
This story shares the same moral with a lot of others. Many people are much richer than they look.
Meanwhile, other people go bankrupt trying to look rich.
Plus, truly rich people don't feel the need to brag about or flaunt their wealth in other (potentially poorer) peoples faces.

I like the Husbands reason for his living in a house 😂
I think I’d have blocked someone very early on in this conversation.
People with REAL MONEY TO BOAST NEVER BRAGS ONLY THOSE WHO ARE STRUGGLING BRAGS ABOUT WHAT LITTLE MONEY THEY HAVE.
Clarice: Wassaaah!!!
Ugh Clarice you are soooooooooo nosey!
I loved the ending
Where someone works & how much money they make is no one outside of the marriage’s business
You can tell these stories aren’t written by someone in the US.
Why is 'Eff off, Claire, that is none of your business' not a valid answer??
I'm getting a headache just listening to Clarice, my head would probably explode if I had to deal with her.
Awesome story
If it was me, Clarice would be BLOCKED
I am a modern 21st century individual who is multi-talented and multi-tasking. I am a schoolteacher, self-employed after school part time tutor, and an investor. I have my hobbies with my family and friends. I am not a one trick pony. I can do more than just one thing very well. I am not perfect, but I am successful.
Sounds pretty damn successful and fulfilling to me!
