She said it best, by learning how other people's DNA look like, working on other people's case studies, makes you learn a lot and you can compare to what those of us with endogamy have. It wasn't until I saw how two of my 1C1R (2C to each other) and saw how the size of their longest segment was compared to what I have been seeing for my mother's & my own results, very different.

Hello Yes I need the very basics! I am glad I found this. I am wondering what to do when my mom's Ancestry DNA came back and she is a 1st cuz to her grandkids, 25%. Is there anything I should do there but let it go. Also how to get help with my 1st cuz who may not remember anything to get back into the Ancestry DNA for him to give me access or manager because he had done my dad's DNA when his dad had already passed away so he did my dad's DNA. I had asked him for access but he's not sure if he still has any log in info.

25% is absolutely right for a grandparent match. Click on the 25% and it will show all the possible relationships to the match.

He should be able to write to Ancestry and give them his personal info and any email addresses he's used. They'll be able to give him a way to access his account and then he can give it to you. I did this with my cousin's account, because she couldn't remember how to get in, then with my son's account for the same reason. (I guess I have a forgetful family.)
