I bought an X750 in early 2023 with an ivory finish. After a couple of months the paint-job started flaking off, so after a few days I opted to remove all the paint. Underneath the paint is a stainless steel body with brass finials at each end. It's a pity Jinhao couldn't make their finish more resilient.
Thanks for this video! I was just wondering about the differences because I really like the x750s that I have, but liked the colors of the 450. So now I know that I'd be happier sticking to the 750s because of the lighter weight. Thanks again!
I guess X750 has more modern design and X450 more old-school, cigar-like one? That is the only meaningful distiction that I see. Maybe X450 has more colour variants but not all sellers carry them. I have X450 in ivory which looks very good, better then I expected, even wrote well right from the start (it needed some adjustement because of a slight baby bottom). A bit too short unposted, and posting is not great but for that kind of money, I use it as a sign/jotting down pen, filled with iron gall ink. If it gets rusted/screwed up/clogged, I would not feel that bad about it. And i am thinking about buying another one as a holder for some number 6 Jowo nibs.
Thanks for showing the difference! I’m currently obsessed with the X750 but have ordered a couple of 450’s just to find out. I suspect I’m going to like these a lot! I’m also a fan of the big 159. It looks like the 450 is available with gold highlights too. 👍🏻🙂
Respected sir, can you please make a video on your recommendation of fountain pens around 20 US dollars of every company you have... Jinhao, Parker, Sheaffer, Hongdian, Diplomat, Lamy, Kaweko, Pelikan, TWSBI, Pilot and some other companies... Please 🙏🏼 Regards from India 🇮🇳
I’ve had both for a very long time and they both have the same flaw. The snap cap eventually wears out. It’s a shame becaue I particularly like the x450. That being said, the x740 is one of my best writers.
@@thepenman357 Kinda depends on the maker. I have Rotring Freeway from 2000/2001, heavily used (grip coating is worn-through to the raw brass) and even after more then 20 years, most of them being my only fountain pen, cap is certainly looser but still snaps on securely and doesn't rattle. Also, I inherited Parker Sonnet from the 1990s and it is almost like new, maybe even better because the new ones are a bit too tight. So it must be in the material, and Jinhao cheaped out (which is understandable, for that money).
I have two x750s. Not a fan of the looks of x450. Then again they aren't exceptional writers, the stock nib is serviceable. Change the nibs and they turn into great writing instruments.

I'm glad i bought the chrome one then. My X450 is painted, so I'll have to see how that one wears.

I'm sort of amazed by my x750, quite the pen for $5.00 USD *delivered*.

@@ThreenaddiesRexMegistus Enjoy the journey!
Thanks for the video. I was interested in the nibs, though
Same nibs. You can check out my reviews on each pen for writing samples.
@@thepenman357 Thanks! I’m curious about Jinhao pens
Good for the price. I would recommend a Kaweco Perkeo however as it’s a fantastic low cost pen. I have both of the reviewed pens.

To include other than Chinese pens would be difficult. So, I might have to raise the price point. I'll work on it. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@thepenman357 Alright sir. Please do if you can. If you share your thoughts, I shall be helpful very much...
my X750 nib is so big i think its medium
@goblinscout9571 Jinhao nib tips, as with a lot of Chinese nibs, are more like European sizes, but are not as consistent in their sizing.

While I like snap caps in general, that is their downside.

I have both and equally not used.
While mine write fine, I have other pens I'd rather write with.

Both of mine write great, but that's the chance we take with these pens. QC at the plant is not very consistent.
