- Hi everyone ,
Today’s video is boats and a tour of Martham .
We visit both boat yards and I tell you a few different things about Martham .
******
This December , I am taking part in RUclips’s VLOGMAS
This simply means I will be posting daily videos In the run up to Christmas Day .

Christmas 🎁
Already you’ve been asking if I have an Amazon wishlist for Christmas.
I’ve added bird items to the wishlist that I’ve already made for my family. … rather than having separate lists.
I thought if I film the birds eating the items, then that might be nicer and you’d get to see your item being enjoyed by the birds.
(Just Ignore the other Items 🙈 )

Alternatively, I know from other years, some of you prefer to send an EMAIL Amazon UK gift voucher

Please understand I do not expect you to send anything at all, I only add this as It’s been requested .

Enjoyable video, good work.
Thank you very much. ⛵️🛥 🚗
Martham has changed a lot since I was last there. Whoever designed those new houses forgot to include a front garden, how nasty do they look. You can hardly call it a village any more. Just like Bradwell and Belton. I used to do a milk round in those villages, just a few houses, now look at them. Loved the music. Thanks for the ride. Stay safe, keep warm. Thank you.
👍🎶🌊
Snow here this morning, you wouldn’t want to be delivering milk today. 😱 ❄️
That was 57 years ago. 🍶. My sister texted me this morning from Bradwell and told me that snow was on the ground. 👍🎶🌊
I know it’s officially a butchers shop but the butchers wife does some amazing fruit pies too. Made a valuable addition to my meals on one of Martham boats yachts this year.
Yes she does indeed. It’s a super shop, I’ve already got my Christmas order in 😀
I just went in to buy some chicken and thought I’d buy a pie. I went back a week later and spent a fortune 😂
Brilliant.
He watches my videos so hopefully he will see your lovely comments.
Great tour of a lovely village, well done and thanks. That new estate looks very nice but could do with a lot more trees dotted around to attract the wildlife!!
I agree with you about the trees.
There’s just some things I can’t write on here though. Not about that particular place but similar. 🤐
Thanks for a lovely drive and some of the history of Martham would be nice, it was great to see Martham boat yard and particularly the Juliette boat which was the first boat I ever hired in 1997. It is my favourite place in the world. I'm glad that you seem to be better now. Take care and all the best. Stevie
I had lots of notes written out re the history but once I started filming it just didn’t feel right. Different if it’s a mill and I’m stood there a while. In the car youre no where long enough to get all the information said at the right time.
I'm going to have to pay for some of your petrol with all these drives you take me on!!! Oh and thanks for turning the heater up a bit!
Such a shame that these new builds are not in keeping with the rest of the village. Cheap, mass built boxes only a short distance from a thatched house that's 300 yrs old - so sad. And so many being packed in too.
Loved the idea of Black Street and White Street. It's really great to see these little villages that to most are just names while boating. Great to get an insight into them as actual villages and some interesting facts thrown in. Thank you for a lovely ride round xx
I’m glad you noticed the heater 😉
Thank you for supporting my channel with all your fabulous comments, it’s very much appreciated. xx
great drive around , there were some really big new houses , but it did'nt look like they'd got much land to them though , it was nice to see the other side of martham instead of from the river , it's surprising how much you miss , it looks like you too are losing that village status same as us , if they carry on building around here we'll soon be joining chesterfield .
No longer the tiny village that we moved here for. It’s the same every where you go now.
I reckon we will be told we are in London soon 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow! This video brings back memories . If you look at the video at 0:37 ahead of you you will see a sign post with a mound in front of it . Last year I was standing on that mound looking to see if there was a place to park my car , when a lady who was crossing the green , altered her direction and walked over to me . She said that for some reason she had been drawn towards me but what really shocked her was when I was able to tell her the initials of her name . I gave her my phone number but never heard from her . Can't win them all . I also visited the boatyard at Martham which wasn't too easy to find .
Now you have a video to show you how to get to both boat yards in Martham 😅
Great video today, loved it. Thank you.
Thank you so much. By the way , I’ve already been to the mill and got a photo for you. Shall I send it to you ?
I would really like that, thank you😊

Thank you for the tour, I live in Martham but have not explored much of it, a creature of habit.
That’s why I make videos, so people get to see what is in the area. There’s Martham Broad which is incredibly pretty but you can’t drive to. Only walk. Roughly which area of Martham are you.
@@NewnameSameme, I live off of MGC and notorious for never walking anywhere :-)
I have been to the area beyond Cess Road but not to Martham Broad.
@@g0fvt years ago I lived on there too. First on WA and then years later CD both off MGC. I’m not far from there now myself.
@@NewnameSameme we are in CD
Ohhhhhh the road or overlooking the green ?
Love looking at the Norfolk countryside, can you do a tour of Acle? That's where I am from.
Yes of course I will, no problem at all.
@@NewnameSameme thank you so much,,
Pity Santa if he goes down your chimney. lol
The patio door was left unlocked especially for him. He always left a boot print to show he had used the doors. Far easier for the reindeer to land in the garden too. I believe he parked his sleigh in our garden, while he delivered to the other houses close to us. 🎅 🎁
@@NewnameSameme Wise choice. lol
😉
Whoops ! got the place wrong in my previous comment , it should have been at 2:07 where the 20mph speed sign is . I'd originally parked where the grey carpet van is at 2:13 .
I'm one of those in the 'love to be driven and shown around the village' camp. I know Martham quite well and used to drive around and through the village a lot, while camping at Waxham. We used to shop at the little Co-op or get sausages for the 'barbi' at Chapman's, and sometimes fish & chips from 'Taylors' too.
I remember the 'mushroom farm', couldn't you see it from the Somerton Road (near the school) and wasn't there a big fire there a few years back?. I'm not keen on the 'new estate' that replaced it, it looks a bit 'soulless' to me, but perhaps it will mellow with age.
I know the roads down to the river, particularly Cess Lane down to Martham Boats where we've hired dayboats. One time (2010) they had no dayboats available, but let us have a wooden cruiser 'Judith 3' for the day, at the same price as a dayboat!...
Altogether, a lovely little ride around your village, though it looks so different in winter with the fallen leaves, bare trees and the puddle covered lanes. I much prefer the summer, when the sun is always shining and hoards of us lucky holiday makers invade you... 😄
You are right on everything, yes.
The huge fire was at Melpac. I’m pleased you enjoyed your chauffeur driven trip.
Have you ever walked along Common Road from Cess Road, past the Smee and continued around to Grange Farm ? That’s a nice walk for you if not. Especially if you sit in the smee for a half hour or so. The bird song is beautiful. I was tempted to show other places today ….. as in get out of the car 🚗… but it was just far to wet and muddy everywhere. More journeys to follow soon.
I remember back a while, when you took us to 'the smee' and sat listening to the birdsong. I think that might have been during one of the 'lock downs' and you had to stay close to home. So, it's definitely on my 'to do' list, along with countless other places you've shown us. I've just got to find the time to visit them all. Hopefully, this coming year, there will be no travel restrictions and I can make a start... 😊
Yes that’s right I did film it and I went there and filmed in the snow too. I’m bonkers ! But then you all know that anyway ha ha.
Hi as all ways another smashing video,it was just like being in the car with you, please do another one of the same soon, watched all the way to the end, your car must have got filfey, best wishes and I look forward to your next video.
It’s not the cleanest 🚗🤣
Thank you, I will do yes. I’ve just sat and written down a list of my next 31 videos to film 😱. I’m going to be very busy 😅. Thank you for watching and for your very kind comments.
@@NewnameSameme sounds great,I can't wait to see wear you go next 🤔 best wishes to you
Thank you. If only the rain would stop 🤦🏻♀️
Lots of cars parked outside. No garages?
You obviously don`t get much river tourist trade in the village, as it`s a good mile or two from the river, plus, with Potter Heigham Bridge restricting at least 88% of the river traffic, Martham must be very much a "local" economy?. We`ve driven through there a couple of times and thought what a lovely place it is, though i think the Portabello estate looks very "boxy" with characterless housing. Sheme really, as Martham is such a pretty village.
I tend to agree with you but this seems to be the latest style lay out around here.
Not many off the boats, no not these days. It’s far easier for people to stop in Potter Heigham. Probably not enough passing trade to warrant a Riverside shop either.
I think Martham is pretty, especially with the thatched properties.
@@NewnameSameme Am i right in assuming you live there, i noticed your comment that you could hear the fire engine leaving the fire statio?. I know Andy Banner (he who used to own Freedom Boating Holidays) lives there, he`s often posted some really stunning pics from the Martham area, do you know hime by any chance?.
I do live here yes.
I know who he is and where he lives but he wouldn’t know me.
14:36 I remember that viewpoint from 1962 I believe. As I have said before, mum and me walked our boxer dog from the boat yard mooring to the village in search of a vet.
Seems a bit too big to call Martham a village nowadays. I only noticed a few small shops, how far do you have to travel to get a decent sized supermarket?
Stalham and Caister both have a Tesco or there’s Asda and Sainsburys in Great Yarmouth. You had a long walk trying to find a vet. …
@@NewnameSameme yes it was a long walk and on a hot day too. We didn't have any choice, we were on a boat and Rusty needed checking over. If you have a pet you look after it was our motto and still is for me.
Easy to travel to the supermarket if you have a car but what about the people who don't have a car? Not so great I would guess. Do you have a regular bus service or has that had the chop like the station?
Oh absolutely, I’ve a house cat. He’s at the top of the pecking order, I’m somewhere near the very end 😂.
There is a bus to Caister and it stops outside Tesco. Or they can go into Yarmouth. I wish the train still existed and the Norwich bus for that matter. Far easier than driving into Norwich.
@@NewnameSameme cats let humans live with them as long as it's on their terms lol. Gorgeous creatures and fun to be with.
Some of the old rail lines are being started up again where possible. Trouble is some of the old routes have been built over. Bet your line to Norwich is one of them.
I think the train line from Martham to Potter Heigham would still fit into place easily. Actually the A149 is the old train line I thnk?
So long as you know your place with a cat, you’ll get on famously. Far too intelligent for their own good.
13:03 Who else found their foot going for an imaginary brake pedal when the van came round the corner at X2 speed? 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
