Rockstar has been friendly with the modding community, it’s Take-Two that goes after them. Heck rockstar used to showcase mods on their site. And they were the ones that stepped in when take two went after OpenIV

Take-Two on the other hand have gone after more dubious mods such as conversion mods that bring one game into another (eg. the Liberty City into Vice City's engine, and the one that adds the Bully map and missions into the game). Which is a reasonable thing to go after, even mod-friendly Bethesda have send C&Ds for that kinda thing. The existing TES conversion projects have a stipulation that you most own both games because they cannot provide the assets, only the tools to convert them over for your own playing experience.
In latin america, Misterix mod is relatively known due how popular Loquendo videos were made based on it. Even today there are a few loquendo videos based on it to this day

In past, i'm make releases every year, but it was only betas\alphas\prototypes and etc. But now, i'm focused on full releases only. About Wasteland - in next year. New version is more polished, more accurate made and have one artstyle
@@detectivemadoka69420 Thanks, well, full version of Wasteland planned be like Fallout, but more action oriented. So, it has main quest, but like in many Bethesda's games, it's not important. Gold is many side quest, much of them have diffrent endings and variations, which affacted on other quests. For example - if you work with desert rangers, you can't work with their enemies.And if you work with their enemies, you cant;s work with rangers. So, every new game starting can be unique adventure.
I'm italian and i can tell you that the story behind MISTERIX 2 is crazy. This mod was made by a then popular youtuber (Zeb89 Ace Gamer) and, at the time, he was at the centre of a scandal inside the community because as you downloaded MISTERIX 2 you would also install a malware (that he had put disegnedly inside the download) that would prevent you to install AdBlock or, if you already had it on your pc, disable it permanently. That was huge during the golden age of italian RUclips.

I remember when Silent Hill Exotica got found and how hype everyone was. It is a fun little thing and a bit of a shame it never went anywhere else. But still impressive they worked with the xbox version of all things too. Though that last one I've never heard about and honestly hope it's something they get back to. Cause honestly that's pretty impressive with it being done in SA's engine too.
Vice City and the whole GTA Trilogy were pretty unstable back in the day because of the sloppy PC ports and Xbox was a heavily modified console so homebrew instantly became popular. It had excessive RAM which allowed modders to play around with the games unlike the PS2. These days, it's the PS2 version that is getting mods like CLEO but it took forever to get here.
I played Terminator 2 Judgement Game mod on release. I remember how author were adding more and more missions to the game with each update until Rockstar came and said to him to shut it down. And not just Rockstar, the company that owns the right to Terminator franchise, whoever it was back then, told him to close it down. And after that, this mod were left unfinished. As for the other lost mods, I have few in mind. Like GTA Berlin that was never finished, or GTA Lviv. I played both of these mods back in like 2009 or 2010, but I never touched them since. Then there is mods like Mortal Kombat Conquest mod, GTA United, GTA Jurassic Park Operation Andreas, GTA The Dark Knight, GTA Knight Rider mod, GTA Criminal Russia, GTA Shift City, GTA Sofia or GTA Motor City. Just look all these mods up. It is very easy to find them, but some of them are unfinished.
That one GTA Knight Rider mod with the very in-depth KITT/KARR functions is also video worthy, damn is that mod some weird stuff. Think some Russians made it back in the day.

Man, as an Italian, I love seeing MisterX mod shown here. One of the two creators, Zeb89, is one of the OG youtubers here in Italy and pretty popular and at the same time controversial to this day. Before even Vice City came out, there was a GTA 3 mod called... GTA: San Andreas! A planned mod of Los Angeles mixed with San Francisco, IE like San Andreas from GTA1. Obviously words were had behind the scenes, because it later re-named to GTA: San Angeles.
about GTA SA Misterix, there is a Polish youtuber called Asasyn08 who made entire series with this mod and probably some other familar mods, it was huge peak back in the day and it made my childhood
Years ago , there's a modder called himself "darkhunter" or "MrFryday23" (his channel on RUclips) He making horror mods based on resident evil series and other mods But he disappeared under unknown circumstances and you can't get access to his mods from his website, unless someone upload his stuff. But someone mange to upload one of his mod called umbrella 1.0 and 2.0 And about his channel, last video was uploaded 7 years ago....
Misterix2 is made by a very famous Italian RUclipsr called Zeb89, he is still active on Twitch and RUclips even in English, he mainly plays Dead by Daylight, he also has started some of the most famous memes of his country. Misterix2 is surrounded by some drama because it apparently uninstalls an adblocker and prevents you from installing it again (even though it is an old one which may not be in use anymore since the mod is very old and this restriction can be bypassed anyways), but what's worse is that in the 1.0 of the mod the installer didn't warn you about it before installing, to this day he still denies that it has happend.
That first mod made me realize how incredible an open world Terminator game would be. Like GTA Vice City, an 80s open world game except you're an extremely powerful android that is hunting parents that will one day give birth to future resistance leaders

It's worth noting that when Take-Two have gone after mods, it's usually been the more dubious mods such as total conversions that bring one game into another (eg. the Liberty City into Vice City's engine, and the one that adds the Bully map and missions into the game). Which is a somewhat reasonable thing to go after, even mod-friendly Bethesda have send C&Ds for that kinda thing. The surviving TES conversion projects have a stipulation that was reached in conversation with Bethesda's legal team that you most own both games because they cannot provide the assets, they can only the tools to convert them over for your own playing experience. Edit: Oddly we did get direct permission from Bethesda in the Oblivion and Morrowind communities to fully remake Redguard if we wanted to. Which is probably a poor sign of how they see that game compared to the rest of the franchise.

Misterix have such a rich history probably from any GTA mods, The original Misterix from 2007 is consider as a classic and one of the first mods that brings some new features to San Andreas without Cleo Scripts that came out year later. But after it gets really obscured because many people doesn't know that there is a sequel and not even one. The developers of the original mod Automan and Zeb89 (also they develop Alien Invasion prequel to the Misterix) then went on their separately ways, Automan developed another 3 sequels which two of them are out Misterix 2 Atlantis and Misterix 3 Catalina's Revenge and 4 Star-Treak and 5 one are in development. Meanwhile Zeb89 goes make this version of Misterix 2 which act more like a sequel to the original with more cinematic approach. This is breaf exemple of the history there are definitley some more stuff to it like why Automan and Zeb89 split or if it's really true that thanks to this mod Rockstar added myths in GTA V XD
I’ve been working on a total conversion mod Japanese themed it includes Japanese environment word/peds/chat/cars/textures/sounds/atmosphere/shops/animations and more. I’ve been working on it independently on it for circa 3 years. haven’t asked help but I still can’t figure out how to fix some crashes, I’m trying my best but I put it all together. Seeing how almost all of these mods were taken down due to legal issues, is just really sad. This goes to show how fun and creative modding was back then before people in suits takes over.

I keep forgetting the mod name but it uses a lot of assets from Jurassic Park and other dinosaur games, no sure if you've covered it yet.

The Terminator mod reminded me of another rockstar game Warriors, obv warriors as a full game is fleshed out, but playing specific scenes with different characters is a big 1:1 to me, very cool to see as Warriors was my fav game for a good time.
There's a really good Terminator 2 skin on Silent Hill exotica. also the "kitt car" and the "Back to the Future DeLorean" actually work if you can figure out their controls.. an your kinda right about there being no missions, but there is some sort of progression that happens i know tommys mansion is involved.

2 guesses on silent hill exotica 1) The mod was done on xbox because it was the best and easiest version to hack at the time. The windows port was poopy and the xbox basically has windows file structure. 2) The name is Silent Hill Exotica because it has miami elements to it still? Both guesses but those are my assumptions from the situation described.

I saw the playthrough of the terminator mod and since he didn't want to share what he had due to issues I decided to find and upload to Archive Originally the Terminator mod was in 2 parts and while it was easy to find the first part, the update file was almost non existant. I found it by figuring out the specific file name and searching for that and someone did have it on a site. I uploaded to archive and I also noticed a few others did as well. I repackaged it as a combination of both parts.

I've found some information about Outlander of Wasteland. Due to information from modder development has been stopped in 2022. This build is hardly playable cause' FPS is very low. So the modder is going to release Outlander of Wasteland just he finish mod Miami Connection for Vice city. So we can expect Outlander mod not early than in 2026

Mods are not a problem unless you are making money off them. A lot of mod creators were selling the mods which is where the problems arose.

Seeing how almost all of these mods were taken down due to legal issues, is just really sad. This goes to show how fun and creative modding was back then before people in suits takes over.

I'd love to see Silent Hill Exotica ported to San Andreas, plus James punting enemies into oblivion is objectively the best reason to play the mod

BTW there's an interesting total conversion mod from russia, I think, where you play as a raptor dinosaur and explore an open world full of other dinos and enemies. I keep forgetting the mod name but it uses a lot of assets from Jurassic Park and other dinosaur games, no sure if you've covered it yet.

The Terminator mod reminded me of another rockstar game Warriors, obv warriors as a full game is fleshed out, but playing specific scenes with different characters is a big 1:1 to me, very cool to see as Warriors was my fav game for a good time.

There's a really good Terminator 2 skin on Silent Hill exotica. also the "kitt car" and the "Back to the Future DeLorean" actually work if you can figure out their controls.. an your kinda right about there being no missions, but there is some sort of progression that happens i know tommys mansion is involved.
I still want to find original GTA: Underground total conversion for GTA Vice City... Not GTA: Underground 2, but the first version... I had it on a CD 15 years ago, borrowed to a friend, and he lost it permanently... I can't find it anywhere on internet...

1) The mod was done on xbox because it was the best and easiest version to hack at the time.
The windows port was poopy and the xbox basically has windows file structure.
2) The name is Silent Hill Exotica because it has miami elements to it still?

I saw the playthrough of the terminator mod and since he didn't want to share what he had due to issues I decided to find and upload to Archive Originally the Terminator mod was in 2 parts and while it was easy to find the first part, the update file was almost non existant. I found it by figuring out the specific file name and searching for that and someone did have it on a site. I uploaded to archive and I also noticed a few others did as well. I repackaged it as a combination of both parts.

I've found some information about Outlander of Wasteland. Due to information from modder development has been stopped in 2022. This build is hardly playable cause' FPS is very low. So the modder is going to release Outlander of Wasteland just he finish mod Miami Connection for Vice city.
So we can expect Outlander mod not early than in 2026
The mod dev also commented on this video giving a progress update.
