I hate naming rules in most games because of this sort of nonsense. More games need to do it like Star Trek Online where you have an account handle and then you can name your characters whatever you want even if someone already is using it.
Or lock names of streamers for twitch verification or whatever streaming service verification they have so no one can take their names so they can stream the damn game.
Yeah they literally just need to add 1 extra data field and have the unique ID separate (which can be "name+randomstring"), super easy to implement. Really feels like a no-brainer and it doesn't make sense to me why it's not commonly done that way.
I hate that crap man. Why can't there be duplicate names? It's not like they can't have an id number generated for a character to use for friending people or such.
oh they very easily could its what most mobile games do, ya have an id number for friending and such and a sepparate username ya cant change at any time
It has been like this since og osrs days. if your popular at all 99% chance your name has been taken. if devs are cool they will save it but thats like very few and far between
The way I go about it is simply making the character its own person so rather than just using a RUclips name make up a random name like Charles Williams so that way the character can live its own life rather than just being a vessel unless the game already has a name for the character
Enforcing unique names for characters in 2024 is wild. Especially since you're already identifiable by your Steam account (or whatever other launcher you may use). For a whole player profile I could _kind of_ get it - but these are _characters,_ which each player can have *up to 24* of. And this is during early access. Imagine how bad it will be once they fully launch and becomes free to play... You'll almost be forced to just type out random letters. Hell, I'd be tempted to create multiple lvl1 characters just to block names I'd like to use later...
People who do this probably need to touch grass. Bet if we used their names for characters in games they'd be more annoyed than Mouse in this clip! Buttheads. 💩
Feels bad for Ironmouse as that's an original name but what's up with the spaz she's playing with? Bro lifted the name Gornak from old Dungeons & Dragons and the name Groknar from Guild Wars. How you gonna copy character names from popular franchises then act surprised when somebody else did it too.
@@nathankerr4219 Interesting. I watch all her singing but not too much of the streaming so had not heard that. Legit had no idea there was a Sailor Moon character by that name.
I blame the nijisister cult. They've been stealing vtuber names in other games for a while now because of their hate for anyone who has had collabs with ex-members.
Makes sense, they’re a bunch of spiteful twats after all. This is why I hate rpg’s that force you to have a different name from everyone else, why not simply allow people to use the same name?! Yeah it might get a tad confusing for a moment but it’s not like you’re going to be the exact same character! And at least it would put a stop to hateful people screwing others over just to assholes.
sorry to reign on the parade but taking names is a tale as old as time. if you have any popularity on the internet you should never expect to get your main name in games.
Especially when they are protecting a company with a known manipulative Predator being housed there that they do nothing about except use it as an excuse to hunt down leakers (more like whistleblowers) in the company so their oh-so-precious PR doesn’t go down the drain any further and hurt their business more… Scumbags.
It has got nothing to do with Niji stans. I know we love hating on them and their fans, but if you're popular on the internet, your name will be stolen. That's just how it is.
