Hi Blake I use to listen to that album when it first came out Joe was truly one of the best chord melody guitarists when it came to Jazz. You did a great job must have taken some time to transcribe it you must have a set of ears on you!!!
One of my favorite albums, and first big jazz guitar influences, around the same time as Benson "body talk" and Martino "consciousness" ! Nice job, you put the work in!
@OnSugarHill Thank you kindly, I transcribed it from the album "Portraits of Duke Ellington" put out in 1974. You can find the record on Amazon and most other sites.
Congratulations! I adore this tune and you played it beautifully. Could you give me some advices to start transcribing, and easy standards to start with? I also play the guitar.
Blake it sounds like you're playing this with your fingers, not a pick? Is that correct? how much of the rolls are you doing just with your thumb/how involved are your other fingers? Thank you so much for posting this video man, it's made the process of figuring this arrangement out possible for me.
Excellent job Blake, you've put a lot of time and effort into learning this. Two things. 1. Did you transcribe it yourself from the record or find a tab in the book? Do you have the transcription available? 2. What guitar are you playing, looks and sounds great!
I think that is the nicest compliment I have ever received, thank you so much.

Did you transcribe by ear? Very nice playing. Can't find anyone else who did it as well as you.
Very nice man. Is this written out somewhere or did you transcribe it yourself? I'm trying to find Joe's recording of this chord melody.
