@inlazoname The PG frames for Astray Red Frame and PG Strike Freedom are all based from the Srike Frame, but enhancements to better accommodate the design requirements for the 2 Gundams.
@hjkimmmm I would suggest acrylic paint and brush, thats at least how I paint my models and it works very well, because i control how thick of a layer i want and where to paint. It might be thougher and take alot more time, but in the end its worth it. And in some cases the original joints sucks so xtra thickness might sometimes benefit the model. So paint and make it your own and most of all; have fun!
The inner frame on this compared to PG 00 was a treat to see, now it was a bit dissapointing to see that there was still that cheap gold, but like rrobbert said some paint will help. I wish bandai had a clear set for this PG so you could see the inner frame.
Hey I absolutely LOVE your reviews, kudos! I REALLY appreciate it. I just have a question about the gold painting of the standard "puke" gold pieces. Good call on painting the pieces, but does the extra spray paint, make the joints very hard to move? Cause I imagine that the extra layer of paint can change the texture or such. What kind of paint is good? Acyclic base? And what do you recommend to paint BEFORE your assemble? Spray painting or brush painting? Thanks!
@gGhostalker yeah, i know that watching this vid and vegeta's vid of his red frame, but still, the strike for me is the best, not much color unless you paint it but with a little bit of effort and patience, its great!!
For me the greatest PG i have/made was Strike Gundam. It's solid and i'm not nervous when posing that it may break or fall apart. I have this and a second 00 PG otw(i broke the first PG 00 out of frustration) so i hope my luck will be alot better
i cant wait to see the wings. i want this model kit so badly but i heard the wings snap too easily, i've asked many reviewers only one replied "MINE HAVE SNAPPED YET!"
Hi rrobert184. I've been watching your reviews and they're nice. I got a PG Strike Freedom recently. I'd like to know whether I could directly spray Mr Hobby gold paint on those frames with "puke" gold. Wouldn't it tighten the joints too much? Thanks for the help.
@rrobbert184 You certainly put to good used the Gold spray paint that you used. You should have just sprayed all the lackluster gold runners not just one side. I also bought the PG SF myself, I'm still debating whether to built the frame straight-out-of-the-box since I'll be sanding, shading and top coat the armor parts or modify the internal frame also by using a different kind of gold for the lackluster parts or just panel line it. I did the same for my MG SF FBM and results are very good.
im debating whether this or the Red Frame as my first PG(and first model kit that i'll build myself, since my uncle built that Liger Zero kit a long time ago for me when i was like 4 or 5) hmmm katanas or gold? all i know if i get the Strike Freedom i better have a can or two of gold chrome spray paint(or a gold close to the good gold) cuz im not gonna look at that ugly gold plastic especially since its 90% of the kit and I'll give detailing either one a shot
You've been doing a bit more painting recently rrobbert, even if it is just partial things to make your models accurate to the anime/boxart. Do you think you'll try some more customs or a full paint job sometime? Also, I happen to quite like the Strike Freedom PG in terms of it's engineering and detail, especially the legs. The finished model with all the armor on could use more panel lines in my opinion though.
I've never put together a PG before but this is one of the ones I'd like to get as my first. I want this kit, and HLJ has this bad boy on sale now and I'm saving up for it because even with how high the shipping is from Japan your going to save the about $100.00 from what you can get this on a U.S. based website.
@tyrannicoystercult I did a pretty bad paint job on my strike but yeah, its justified being the first time i paint a kit, its inner frame is best with shades of silver and some highlights of gold. But to make strike's inner frame pure gold i think would make him like a failed strike freedom copy. Still the best inner frame for me but obviously, Strike freedom is the shiniest ^_^
the different kinds of metallic gold look pretty nice actually^^ and by the way, the PG strike freedom is on sale along with other PGs on hobby link japan right now! you save 40% compared to bandais regular price!
you really worked hard on this.. at least the painting. I'm glad I waited this long ^^ But.. I think the original lusty gold was a better tone of gold compared to your gold spray. I'm glad you actually painted it though. none of the kits I watched on yt (like, maybe 2? lol) painted and it was like, YOU MUST PAINT!
hey rrobbert i' am very interested in getting this kit just one thing worries me, since the inner frame is all gold plastic will it suffer from "gold plastic syndrome" down the road? sorry but i have not seen anyone with an answer to this. thanks
PLEASE READ can someone please help me where can i buy spray paint from mr color or tamiya? or if anything hardware store spray paint like which one is best i heard krylon and rustoleum but i dont know which is best and which one has more colors please help thank ya
@shadowblack1987 Hey, can you please specify the brand, where to buy, etc? I sort of like the multi-tone look, but I'm interested in also a gold similar to what Bandai uses. Thanks :)
@thalunizz21 Tamiya's website can get you what you want, they ship direct to you if you don't have a local hobby shop that carries their stuff. Also, if you live in the U.S.; Hobbytown USA carries their paint at some of their stores. Check their website for a local shop's phone number. As for Mr. Hobby, online places I know where to get anything from them sells the bottled paints and spray clears. They are GG infinite.com; Hobby Wave.com and Gundam Planet.com
pretty cool, i havent built a pg yet but i will have one soon because i am saving up for one. the pg strike gundam, i like the design and its pretty cheap compared to other pg's, so id rather have more of a feel for a pg then starting off with strike freedom or oo raiser.
never built a Perfect grade before, was always to expensive, My friend bought the 1:60 Impulse and Freedom and they put me off, but from the looks of it I've been far to harsh on the 60 size models, my question is, How do you have room to display so many :P
i know that feeling dude... and when i came back from peeing my friend was touching my gundams, destroying it, tearing apart and other atrocities you could imagine.
Hey. So the shoulder dos not have an inner skeleton?!? Just like in the MG Exia, I'd rather not call this a full inner frame if that's the case. :D Nice review as always.
Still, PG Strike Inner Frame is better, and the knee joint bend is an exact copy of Strike's awsome engineering, plus the fact that when you move the foot side to side, there's a moving part similar to when you move the foot front and back, really im very happy that my 1st PG was the PG strike ^_^
Nope, he spray painted the puke gold with mr.hobby Metallic Gold, and I dont think he top-coated them. Going astray but if you can apply another coat of clear yellow then seal it with a Matt or Gloss top coat, it looks somewhat better (more *kira kira*)
Damn you Kira, ripping off the coolest mobile suit in history to make your Mary Sue gundam of "I am god, you lose"-ossity! If the Hyaku Shiki were still alive it'd hide in shame!
@pegbster In other words. Gunpla really no longer shows attention to the ORIGINAL Gundam series created by Tomino. All people really want to see nowadays are Mobile Suits bashing into eachother. No character,No story. I know Ill get flamed for this but, compare Gundam 00 to Turn A Gundam, A very hated series by Gundam fans who don't give It a chance. but one theing people don't notice. Is It has a Story, great characters. But, Popularity always wins. therefore those series will get more attention.
Dude! I just saw this model today and holy shit my heart almost went crazy when i saw the price on that thing! 600$ as well, but the people working there is trying to tell me it's on special. LIKE HELL IT IS!! What kind a person makes a special for freaking 600$!? Like seriously that's bullcrap right there. If it was really on special, it should be at least at 390$ in my opinion. The owners/salesmans these days are really overdoing it I tell ya.
@pegbster Why do you think they made the StrikeFreedom? Bandai is simply lazy. And dosen't seem to want to advance In there model line. Creating even more suits for SEED,00,Unicorn,ETC. Leaving series like Turn A,Victory,Wing,ETC lacking model Kits. Bandai will keep recycling Ideas for another 1-2 years. till they notice they havent advanced In there model kits. Look at kits from 2006-2008. they simply smash the kits being released nowadays. Bandai has actually downgraded there kits As ive notic
actually this inner frame looks like a Master Grade. Even master grade has that knee bend.... I was watching a PG Zaku Vid and i can't help but to think that frame looks 10 times better
@inlazoname

That gold-sprayed inner frame is really nice.

wow I study anatomy and i'm really impressed with all the moving joints in this kit!
The inner frame on this compared to PG 00 was a treat to see, now it was a bit dissapointing to see that there was still that cheap gold, but like rrobbert said some paint will help. I wish bandai had a clear set for this PG so you could see the inner frame.
Ah man, I need to get started on mine as well. Cant wait for your next video!

Called it. All the strike freedom reviews led up to this.

I have PG Wing Zero Custom and now this, both have weight issues with their 4 wings but overall, I think Strike Freedom is the best one out there
You've been doing a bit more painting recently rrobbert, even if it is just partial things to make your models accurate to the anime/boxart. Do you think you'll try some more customs or a full paint job sometime?

What was your process of spray painting the parts? If you did a primer, what color did you use ?
@tyrannicoystercult I did a pretty bad paint job on my strike but yeah, its justified being the first time i paint a kit, its inner frame is best with shades of silver and some highlights of gold. But to make strike's inner frame pure gold i think would make him like a failed strike freedom copy. Still the best inner frame for me but obviously, Strike freedom is the shiniest ^_^
i painted a MG destiny's frame gold... that colour's addictive
the different kinds of metallic gold look pretty nice actually^^
and by the way, the PG strike freedom is on sale along with other PGs on hobby link japan right now! you save 40% compared to bandais regular price!
@jiminboo gold plastic syndrome is when over time gold plastic becomes brittle and will just break and shatter even if you did not touch the thing
@Legendkller56978 the first thing that my mom said when i showed her my first master grade was "what does it transform into"
@rrobbert184 maybe on the body piston not long because you not pust it deep enough
this beats the shining gundam because it really shines and it's blinding
Could you please tell me how many spray cans it took and the size of the bottle? I also want to do the overkill approach.
This looks like an awsome kit, but I will wait for the price to drop before I actually consider buying it. I hope they release a PG 00 Qan(T).
you really worked hard on this.. at least the painting. I'm glad I waited this long ^^
But.. I think the original lusty gold was a better tone of gold compared to your gold spray. I'm glad you actually painted it though. none of the kits I watched on yt (like, maybe 2? lol) painted and it was like, YOU MUST PAINT!

Robert..just wanna ask u that the gold paint that u painted, did u apply any coating?? or u just only spray painting
lol I just watched the G-Savior review yesterday, and you brought it up.
did you clear coat the gold parts that you painted? because if not the paint may wear off after some time.
PLEASE READ
can someone please help me where can i buy spray paint from mr color or tamiya? or if anything hardware store spray paint like which one is best i heard krylon and rustoleum but i dont know which is best and which one has more colors please help thank ya
Did you use a clear coat on the frame? Also, was one can enough for the whole frame?
Do i need to paint the polycap
@shadowblack1987 Hey, can you please specify the brand, where to buy, etc? I sort of like the multi-tone look, but I'm interested in also a gold similar to what Bandai uses. Thanks :)

you are gold!
always believe in your soul
you've got the power to know
you're indestructible
always believing!!

1. Did you find any issues with the ball joint of each finger?
Did you paint all the inner frame with the gold metallic spray? or can I know which part did you painted.... I'm build for RG kit....TQ
The RG and the PG are nowhere near the same
dude when i get the money i am so buying this
never built a Perfect grade before, was always to expensive, My friend bought the 1:60 Impulse and Freedom and they put me off, but from the looks of it I've been far to harsh on the 60 size models, my question is, How do you have room to display so many :P
This is something hasbro will never think of for their leader and supreme transformers
hey rrobbert can you make a video gundam daily stuff "how to paint use MR color"
No, it won't tighten too much, so feel free to spray, just be careful
i know that feeling dude... and when i came back from peeing my friend was touching my gundams, destroying it, tearing apart and other atrocities you could imagine.
@kingkuya Glod plastic syndrome? What's that?
Exactly!! The inner Frame kinda resembles C3P0!!
@Kysen10 Looks doesn't mean anything, it Gundam, its the story and the depth of it that counts.
the design of this model scream master grade and over price!
wow 2 gold look epic together
@GillytheKid7
there is no price drop on kits.
I dont think he sprat painted it, instead he uses a brush to paint the inner frames, i think
I'm gonna be honest, they could've just released the inner frame as a Gunpla and we would still buy it!
Hey. So the shoulder dos not have an inner skeleton?!?
Just like in the MG Exia, I'd rather not call this a full inner frame if that's the case. :D
Nice review as always.
If you like this frame the PG Strike's would drive you crazy.
Finally...after 2 months of waiting...
why dont you just spray all plates with that gold so its more similar? ;s
YUP THIS FRAME IS PRETTY MUCH BASED OFF OF THE STRIKE FRAME!
I seriously think they need to make a version with pure clear armor to put over the gold frame.
Inner-frame goodness! Liked and favorited!
the inner frame looks a lot simpler to build compared to the 00... simple but effectively brilliant in terms of design...
THATS A PG!!!!!!!!? OMG that's huge!!!!!! (still a beginner Gunpla builder)
it's so expensive. in my country it's about 3 million rupiah
Thats one shiny inner frame.
MAN! PG grades are so massive compared to MG.
@surpremekingjudai i don't remember it being so shiny!! lol...
@SkillrSilvia i agree with wat u say, but im just saying, bandai should stop recycling frames from the pg strike and make something new :P
@setsuna1f1seiei my point is for the people considering to buy it think of japan first
lol never noticed how big that beast really is.
Nope, he spray painted the puke gold with mr.hobby Metallic Gold, and I dont think he top-coated them.
Going astray but if you can apply another coat of clear yellow then seal it with a Matt or Gloss top coat, it looks somewhat better (more *kira kira*)
wow that was big.
its a 60 foot tall C-3P0 without a head
Damn you Kira, ripping off the coolest mobile suit in history to make your Mary Sue gundam of "I am god, you lose"-ossity! If the Hyaku Shiki were still alive it'd hide in shame!
how about a comparison to the high grade? lol.
the knee is the same as the red frame.. :p
Let me guess, does one loaf of bread cost like 4k in your country?
haha , that would be one seriously over powered protocol droid !
Omg it looks amazing!
@pegbster In other words. Gunpla really no longer shows attention to the ORIGINAL Gundam series created by Tomino. All people really want to see nowadays are Mobile Suits bashing into eachother. Wow, that leg almost moves like a human leg.
Strike Freedom Month? :))
the inner frame is too similar to the strike's...
wow dude wow
as always on this week funny destripcion

HOT F*CKING DAMN!!!!! That's f*ckin awesome!!! Must buy.....
@suiton629 do your research before you talk. The head DOES have a full frame, rrobbert just hasn´t built it yet.
hey rrobbert i haven;t sleep yet..isn't that awsome
@below61 HAHAHA... :P
my friend thought that gundams were transformers
Shiny O.O
@ChopperDaveAst xD
@loplop019 Yeah, because putting money into their economy won't help them at all.
actually this inner frame looks like a Master Grade. Even master grade has that knee bend.... I was watching a PG Zaku Vid and i can't help but to think that frame looks 10 times better
I would buy two if I had 600 dollars lying around
w00t finaly a good review:) inc
