Pete, I will share an "old Indian trick" from Texas country boy. After you dig your hole and set the post, fill the hole about half full of water and "slowly" pour your dry concrete into the hole. That technique is used by most of the highway departments, and the roadside signs stay in place for years and years. It saves a lot of needless mixing and mess to clean up. Nice hose reel. Blessings to you brother.

    Pete,
One of many things I admire about you is you honesty, integrity and candor.
Not once have you presented a tool or piece of equipment without letting viewers know that whatever you bought and paid for with your own money and that you are not beholding to a distributor on manufacturer for giving you something for an endorsement.
    Can’t buy Pete!!

So nice to still find someone putting the Lord first in everything. I just stumbled across your video while shopping for ideas on getting a new hose reel for the front of my house. I saw your shirt & watched your video & listened to you using gosh and darn & subscribed & smashed that bell right away.
I so miss seeing & hearing people unashamed of their walk.
We always say “how’s your AC”- then you say “PRAISE THE LORD!”
Thanks so much for supplying us with good quality content with clean content as well. I’m telling all my family about you Sir…

Honestly, you just gained even more credibility with me. Eley hoses are the best hoses I have used. I bought several hoses before getting an Eley and now I look around at all the others I have and think, man I wish I had bought the Eley in the first place. All these other hoses are useless.

Hey Pete, I have been an Eley guy for many years now. Will never use anyone else’s product now that I know how good this stuff can actually be made. Quick tip on the spray nozzle... If you notice that at the nozzle it drips as it sprays the water, that means there is not enough pressure and you need to go down to a disk that restricts the flow a bit more. That is why they include a few options. Once you find the right one, it will stop that annoying drip from running down the nozzle onto your hand or glove. Hope that helps.

Your product endorsements are much appreciated with the lack of quality / performance from most products available at big box stores. Pete, found Eley 3-4 years ago, was hesitant at first to spend that kind of money on a hose reel but can honestly say they're worth every last cent. I fully expect mine to last for years and years (read 15-20+). You should look at their quick connect adapters so you can quickly switch from that sprayer to a wand to a Big Sled sprinkler.

  • @toddfromflorida

Thats awesome Pete. I was getting ready to buy one and just hadnt pulled the trigger. I was also getting ready to say your pick wasnt the best until I saw you picked the Eley..... I will be buying tonight. Thanks Pete.
I already did buy their quick connect setups AND there shut off valves ( specifically I bought the 'garden hose ball valve swivel). Which are all AMAZING! They are full flow so the inside diameter is VERY large. Much larger than the other high quality quick connects that I use which are made by Dramm. The Eley products are super quality all the way around.
I highly suggest you try the quick connects and shut off valve if you havent already (I havent watched the full video).

Just a tip on metal tools like that manual post hole digger, spray good old fashioned Wd40 on it and let it dry. I bet the dirt won't stick as much. That's what I have to do with snow shovels up north and worksnlike a charm. Great video. Thanks for sharing it.

Pete, spray your post hole digger with wd-40 before you dig and the mud will come off easier! We have the black gumbo mud and it works on that so I bet it will work on red clay too.

I put my Eley post mount reel together today. You're right about how easy it is to assemble. Unfortunately for me, I have absolutely ZERO mechanical aptitude and it took me all day with occasional Motrin breaks. It's a great reel. I especially like the feel of all the nuts. They screw in easily.

  • @jeffwilliams6101

You will not regret that Eley Pete. I bought one for the front of my house 5 years ago. I got tired of the big box models and have been through countless ones. Like most quality, it costs up front but way worth it in the long run. I have had zero problems with it. The vinyl covers they use are subpar though. They fade quick. They sent me a replacement for free that also did the same. I tried like heck to talk them into making them out of Sunbrella material. It would be worth it. I still use though to protect my hose. Just my 2 cents brother.

Just a heads up, you can adjust that brake so that the reel will allow you to pull hose out, without the reel spinning too freely. That way when you stop pulling, the reel stops. Instead of momentum making the reel keep spinning and letting out extra hose... love my Eley..

Looks good Pete! It would be nice if they make a removable cover to go over it so the sun doesn’t deteriorate the hose over time. We all know that’s the enemy to most things. I like it but what is the hose made of? I currently run the rubber Goodyear hose from the orange store. I keep it out of the sun and they look great even after 6yrs.
Side note... in the winter time or right before, I blow my hose completely out with air. The reason is if you have a fire in the winter and need the hose, but left water in it, it will be frozen and useable.
    Stay safe

Bag a quikcrete dumped into the whole, backfill and tamp; No need to mix or wait for the concrete mix to harden. Plenty of moisture in the ground to get the concrete to harden. I’ve done many fence post this same way and never had an issue 👍🏽

I found your channel while I was just wondering around RUclips and I am so glad that I did. I have been looking for a really nice strong hose reel and this one should work out for me just fine. But how many feet of hose do you use and what’s the max length the hose reel will safety handle? I may have to have two reels because I use over 450 - 500 feet of 3/4” diameter hose. As you most likely know the longer the hose the pressure drops accordingly. I split my hoses between my front and rear of my property. BTW I did subscribe because I won’t purchase anything that will not last I would rather do without than to waste my money on something that’s only going to last a couple of years. You did a very good job installing it also. Thank You

For the open hole when you remove your rollers part of the corner guard insert an OXO reusable wine cork/bottle cork. The red one is easiest to find under mulch or your favorite sports teams color etc will work too. Pops in and pops out easily and can handle the hot cold temperatures. Or you can use one of those rubber corks with a hole in it and attach a “bolt through it for a handle. May cost more depending on the area.
