Hi Karin. It is such a shame that your plant was stuck for so long in the post, but what can you do but hope like mad that Rosita is tough enough to pull through the ordeal. I've heard stories about orchids way back when they were lost in shipping crates for years and somehow were able to survive. Orchids are tougher than we think sometimes and are amazing at bouncing back. Good luck with your lovely Rosita, it looks like such a beautiful colour.
@@renatecormick7399 Wow! For years! Well I'm not very surprised. The biggest enemy to orchids is not drying...its getting too wet. 🥰😀 thank's for watching this video!
Oh buddy. I feel your pain. Been there so many times with expensive orchids. I know if anyone can resuscitate an orchid it will be you though!! As an aside, 6 of my orchids this week alone have been sent on an “extended blind date” with Mr. Garbage. Hope they’re having fun because I’m super happy not to have to look at them. anymore.
@@AmyDurtschi-v1i That's the way to look at it! At first - releaf...but in a yearvor two.. hmmm I miss that orchid. Hmmm why did I beed to throw it away? Was ut really that bad?, hmm let's rebuy it 🤣
Hi Karin. I have a same story. Some years ago, I ordered 6 orchids (5 Phals and a Dendrobium) from Thailand (ebay order). It was Christmas time when the package arrived to my country (I live in Hungary). But before I get the package, there was a custom examine and a plant examine by plant experts. Unfortunately I get the package after Christmas and new year. 4 plants were died and just 2 orchid survived this. But I think your Cattleyas are quite OK, those will be recover this journey. Cattleya dowiana one of my favourite. :)
Sorry to hear! Too bad that the tracking number sometimes delays it and as for your case...that was even more frustratioäng than my case! Examine the plants!! Disrespectful on your belongings! 🤯
Yes. It not the best time ordering orchids in winter. It is the lesson learned in this story. I never order again from Thailand. The purpose of the plant inspection was to prevent plant diseases from being brought into the EU from foreign countries.
Whew lucky she looks ok, they're tough aren't they? I also got some plants delivered today from eBay, but they were only 2 days in transit. Not as big or rare as yours, but I did get 9 plants for about 170 which is great
@@justinsdutchtropics That price level sounds a lot more healthy 🤣 Too bad I wasn't informera about her beeing here already for 9 days..then perhaps her roots would have been better but well she's alive and will bounce back
I hope she will produce some new roots soon! 🤞🙏 I once ordered two plants from Ecuador and that was a totally ”horror story” also 🥵🤣 Nothing I would do again! You must show us updates on your Rosita 🙏👍
Aren't there any private courier companies in Sweden? In our place private courier companies sre doing wonderful job in transporting orchids..Fingers crossed .
@@josejkoonthanam Normally it works just fine but from France they are having problems sometimes to convert their tracking number. Very strange I think. If they know about it, why not just try to fix it?
@@yvonnela4979 Too much for me as well I noticed.. but these plants rarely shows up, or to be honest: never shows up here. The rosita is sooo extremely rare
Be good to go through the different mix you use for your orchids and maybe a second tour including your aquariums. Maybe a video on the use of fans and why Nelly Islers are difficult for some people. 😮
Btw - I recently saw a Cattleya rex at Großräshener 😮 For 75 euro! When I looked a couple of hours later there where no one left! But too expensive anyway 😢
@@CharlotteDessi Hmmm, stupid... I got a fs one for 10 euro 10 years ago.. as mentioned jn this video.. at neovita. A great way to push up the prices... to make certain things rare by almost removing it from the market and rise the price levels on it.
I really hope it is Dowiana rosita as I no longer trust seller who sell divisions of cattleyas with photos taken off internet, sadly I have bought from seller here in UK who is using the same photos as the seller you bought your orchids from and surprise orchid that did survive were some nameless hybrids
@@2702foxy Yes,, the thought crosses my mind...sadly it did. But it does look like the real deal, ps bulbs, unvigorousity included. But well the day she blooms we'll know.
