in WEEK 1 you can run act2 dreadnaught and farm low level spirit gems. coz people in the lvl 90s dont have stats for high level auras thus the need for the low level one. they can sell 10-15ex depends on the market and how many people doin it. cant do it now tho since its pretty late and market is flooded.
I kind of think thats almost her purpose to be honest, a boss/rare you know right where they will be and is easy to get to. Ive gotten a lot of items from her that would help me through the rest of the acts without feeling over stressed about gear. I would keep any fire/kightning resist rings (that rolled well) for boss fights. once you know the zone/boss that is coming you can swap ring and make thing smoother. you might lose some DPS but its better than dying 6 times and always screaming OMG OMG OMG Im gonna die! while desperately doging the killing blow.
A small pro-tip: Instead of teleporting back to town each time, grab a checkpoint next to the waypoint, run to kill the boss, use the checkpoint next to her to port back to the starting one, and then use the waypoint to reload the map. It's easier, because you don't need to fight any mobs whatsoever that can interrupt you casting the portal every single time, and also it's faster because you don't need to render the whole town location, just a quick reload of the map you're already in. Ignore the magic (blue) items, unless you really need a specific one, grab only the currency, rares, and uniques, obviously, and get back to town only when you're filled with stuff. Happy farming :)
When I go back to the Checkpoint and reset the waypoint (pressing New), The checkpoint back to (Deshar Twins) is gone as the whole map resets.??? help plz.
I use the Mausoleum of the Praetor in act 1 and act 1 cruel as speed farming targets for levelling SSF. There's a "hidden switch" room that leads to some floor gold and 2 rare chests, and you can run it in 2-3 minutes per.
You can trade 1 ex for easy upgrades generally sort by 1 ex with two modifiers you want it most likely will come up. FYI especially if your having dps problems items greater than skill gem levels 4 sure. Filter by your level.
There is a drop penalty in Path of Exile 1, which i'm going to assume is in PoE 2: "There is a penalty to the chance of currency items and Divination cards dropping in areas with a monster level more than two levels lower than your character level. For each additional level that you have compared to the area's monster level+2, the chance of a currency and Divination card item drop is reduced by 2.5%" If you have bad Gear you can farm(i farm Elites and Bosses often), but the higher you are compared to the mobs, the less currency drop you are going to get theoretically if the penalty is in PoE 2. Best is staying in the level of the zone or lower. Another thing worth mentioning is that although farming the first 2 Act Boss is pretty bad, they still guaranteed to drop at least 1 Rare item and probably have a higher chance for a Unique.
Good stuff...me and a friend are at end of Act 2 and almost abou8t ready to give up. mainly due to the lack of Loot Drops. Both of us are mainly using gear 9-14 levels below because we're just not seeing/getting anything. I ran two areas in Deshan, two characters and came away with total of 5 Rares. Mobs are not too bad but Bosses, another story. Some will say Go to Trade Market but that should be a option, not a necessity
Finally someone who actually asks the question of how to farm up for the good gear, PoE2 is my very first ARPG, i basically jumped in head first and played it without looking at any guides what so ever, when i got to normal act3 i got stuck on the serpent lady, like i REALLY struggled? i felt that my damage was falling off slowly but i was hoping that i would come across good gear at some point right ? well sadly it didn't that when i caved in and looked up a guide and had to switch some stuff up but what bothered me the most was that there was no way for me acquire decent gear without purchasing it and that's when it dawned on me, how do SSF players get over this hurdle ? what is it they have special ? then i was no longer excited to play when i realized that i can just start a new character get all the good gear when ever i needed step over all the challenge and half the progression. what is the point of crafting when i can simply buy everything i need ? with my mercenary now i am struggling to clear tier 4-5 maps because i refuse to buy the gear i need, i hate it that the crafting is based on gambling, i would rather farm for weeks on end just to get a good crossbow than to spend 50+ orb to reroll good stats or otherwise. This comment might go unnoticed and i know i went on a whole tangent here but i just feel frustrated over the fact that crafting feels less rewarding and more like a trip to vegas, to be clear i love this this game and i see why its special, i wish the devs nothing but the best and i hope things would change for the better.
The thing is in order to get real good, you have to get specific combinations of armor and weapons and skills and the crafting system allows you to customize it almost endlessly to give you freedom of choice, you randomize affixs just like you would get random gear from a monster, except you get to try and modify and customize it until you get the perfect item for your build, farming the gear and orbs is the game, you don't have to be a trader and buy everything just because many people do, but it could help to uprade a piece here and there via trading, i mean, why not? trading is the oldest profession, why not trade once in a while, it does fit the role playing aspect, you shouldnt feel bad about it, and you never have to do it, it's just an option, play however you like. I was struggling on some bosses myself many times, I used to just go back a little, get a few levels in earlier areas, try and upgrade a piece or two, mmaybe a skill, modify it to make it more effective tfor the boss, get the proper resists, and hustle through it, the challenge makes it fun, otherwise it'd be boring wouldnt it
ive been struggling to finish act 3 on my warrior and at first the frustration was palpable but then a stepped away for a day and thought yeah its rough but its a breath of fresh air of not having loads of quality gear dumped into your inventory like a garbage truck. Still trying to finish act 3 and i like the idea that i need to not only find beyter gear i also need to really delve into my passives and see where i need to improve.
I think there are a few bosses that are typically pretty easy to find. In Act 1, you have Beira, and also Areagne and the Brambleghast in the Grelwood. You can usually find one or both pretty quickly. In Act 2, you have Kabala in Keth, or later you can go for the harpy sisters after you've blown the horn. Not sure who I'd go for in act 3.
as far as the gear you asked that is valuable, what came to my mind was the Marchioness' altar robe of the thunderhead (Increased Spirit and lightning resistance) and then the Miracle Sole Advanced Iron Greaves (has chaos resistance (rare to find while leveling), Lightning Resistance (a decent amount), and Movement Speed (a godsend no matter what in this game)
Another good farming spot is the ghost guy in the cemetery that has the hidden basement thing with all the gold cuz the gold room resets every reset too so you can beat the boss and then grab the gold in the hidden basement thing over and over. And sometimes you can even see the hidden treasure room from the reset waypoint just inside that crypt or whatever so it's easier to have an idea of where to go after killing the boss.
There is more in depth crafting in poe1 that smooths transition from campaign to maps. I have heard ina few interviews that poe2 was trying to go for the mech/baal runs like in D2. Played thousands of hrs in poe1, was running crab boss as I tried different gems/builds and ended up running into this strategy when I basically upgraded most of my gear.
One solid tip I can give to you guys struggling with finding gear. Level doesn't matter nearly as much as in other games, just pay attention to what stats come on what pieces (or look them up) and try to find that stat that you want for your build. For example, I usually look for attack speed on gloves, if I find that AND crit damage/crit chance, it will become a piece I save and use or work on. After a while you get a feel for what stats come on what types of pieces and it will become a lot easier to gear up on the go. (the item level does affect the bonus stat ranges and your base like armor/energy shield or base attack.)
Quicker to use the way point at the boss and go to the waypoint north to the next zone. Then ctrl+click the zone entrance to reset. That way you are entering the boss zone from above and you're closer to her spawn point.
I "upgraded" to better base gear to try and beat act 2 the first time. Base energy shield was much higher than what I was using. Because items could only be made magical with two affixes, they ended up being way worse than the earlier rares I had been using.
Struggle bussing here, bloodmage. Got my skills right but now accidentally broke my gear somehow. Def using your advice tonight. Appreciate the low/midgame deep dive
i would like to also recommend act 3 - in the spirit bosses zone "azag bog" i think. there is that tile where you can set aflame this big wicker man for the zone limited 25% fire resistance buff. i use that place to make a couple levels every time i go through it. that room is rather stacked with enemies, often a pack or a rare included. can clear, and reset to checkpoint. good xp, and loot can be decent. but tbf, mostly xp.
In poe 1, I've never done it personally, but some people run blood aqueducts. I did a few runs on this boss in act 1 because the devourer knocked me on my butt 2 or 3 times. My build wasn't functional until act 4. All the problems I had were pre cruel difficulty because I couldn't get a decent weapon until then. I also play warrior.
I remember farming in poe 1 boss before first city for a day to get overgeared for first 2couple of hours of game xD testing things seems like a good excuse to waste some time in good faith to save it for someone else :)
I don't play SSF so I had the option to trade for my upgrades, but would have loved to known about this at the time so I could have avoided spending currency. Great tip in my opinion and will consider it on my next class.

im just in act 2 rn on my first character. it got to the point in act 1 where fighting groups was just so inefficient that I just suicide ran throguh maps and fought the bosses. and they arent even brick walls either. I manage to get through bosses on 15-60 mins on average. mind you act 2 takes longer with this damn usa sized maps. I ONLY JUST about an hour ago got a rare weapon drop that essentially doubled my dps. I noted earlier in my playthrough that all my drops were just statistically ass. esp weapon dmg. so much so that this is kind of the only weapon I've seen that does that lvl of phys dmg. a true outlier. I went from dying against these lightning beetles right back to surviving like normal. they'll still crack my health bar, but the dmg im putting out makes it balanced like when I first started. crazy so to hear you say the phrase "didnt get great drops as they were progressing the campaign themselves" assures me that im not pit-terrible, im just unlucky sometimes and pit-terrible
I was not able to use the trade site during my first run to map, so I did some farming in cruel. Farmed the act 1 cemetery, three named boss close to each other, kinda easy to fight Farmed act 2: Dreaknough boss fight, high density monster finishing by an act boss and that’s when the advanced dualstring bow start dropping. Did not really need to farm 3
i did the boss before the act 1 final boss in the mansion. i killed this one at least 15 times with my first char to find something nice. and i farmed the small ones before too because a few more level can add up too.
Personally I really like to farm act3 chimera. You WP to temple of chaos. Run hugging the top side of the map. 95% of the time you find the "flower" miniboss and around 50% of the time the camp with 3 chests on the way.
I've been farming this boss since the game launched. I caught on that she was right next to a waypoint. I also think GGG was aware and they moved her farther away. She used to be literally almost right by the waypoint. Then after a patch, I noticed that she was farther away. Still not a bad walk, but the moving of her did let it be known they are/were aware of it. There was another farming spot that was better, but it was more of an exploit. The Beetle boss in Act II, I think. You could kill him, do any skill to consume his corpse. Then you'd just let the little beetles kill you and you'd respawn right by the waypoint where he was and he'd spawned back in again. You could farming him literally in 10 seconds or less.
Great video macro, have done some similar farms on hardcore so here's some bits of info i found: Act 1/4 For Veira (the boss you did) - it's faster to reset at the entrance to the grelwood, it's just southeast of the boss spawn and about 1/2 the walking distance from the waypoint. You can also do Brambleghast / Areagne in the grelwood. Praetors Tomb is another good 1 with the loot room / boss Act 2/5 Keth - you can do the loot room + Kabala, constrictor queen. This tends to have a small tileset and is easily doable. Halani Gates: L'im the impaler, short walk but always within close walking distance from the zone start. Acts 3/6 the Jungle camps in Infested Barrens + Jungle Ruins always have spawns fairly close to the waypoint i've found. the best IMO for act 3 however is the Orok Campfire. Leave town back into the Marsh, follow the baskets / cross the bridge = always the same
There is one problem with this method and that is "Area Level". Gear that drops will have severely lower stats rolls and on some items even prevent certain rolls from rolling on an item, than an item dropped at the higher Area Levels. So i would argue farming 1 area level below your current pain threshold is the better way to farm because you also gain decent experience still, by not over leveling the area you are in to the point of penalizing your exp gains.
When i first stepped into endgame i died a lot it wasnt a gear issue for me it was a skill tree issue i spent an hour fixing my nodes and had a way easier time now
People definately don't value magic items enough I don't know if it's cause they are used to being spammed with orange items in D4, and how useless magic items are in that game but a good piece of early game gear is three good stats for your build. Often this means a well rolled piece of magic gear you find then upgraded to rare with a regal orb. Almost all my gear for my first run as a warbringer was acquired this way I and breezed to end maps relatively. I did also luck out and crafted a very good hammer I spent 6 exalts In in the end with this method (ssf)
Most of the good/great gear I found in POE1 I got through the trade site. But with the economy being worthess right now in EA, I've been stuck with RNG and garbage drops. There simply isn't enough regal/exalts dropping to buy much.
Never heard anyone in Poe refer to accuracy as a good outcome Awesome video though love me some data Also to answer your question target farming a zone to level and round out some gear in modes like ssf is completely normal for a new character in Poe 1
@ well in Poe 1 people got so efficient at completely destroying the campaign you would often be super under leveled for maps and when you under level or over level a zone by too much you basically get no xp so farming a high density zone before mapping was mostly to catch up in levels
They all got wild names as far as I'm concerned. You got Sif the dog, Big Bell Boy and Dr. Robotnik. Then there's Hands Mcgee in the pinnacle content. But I haven't seen the others.
tried self-found myself... is really hard in POE2 as you need several runs to beat any area bosses. Different story if you start engaging with the market.
i get that in old school diablo youde spend days trying to get a single item, but if i cant find a sizable upgrade in 1 hr of farming when im in the campaign to make it easier ima stop farming and try something else

i found the executioner to be a good farm boss. directly west from waypoint. go to next map, rinse and repeat. easy rares. do not craft. if you get exalted orbs trading will be much more valuable.
I know that look on your face when you die in game. I pretty much go through that everyday. My adrenaline starts pumping my heart is racing and I'm yelling... lolol
Thanks for this. Saddly, the trash gearing during campaing was not addressed on GGG last transmition. They will only focus on endgame... Which is funny, since they want you to run the entire fucking campaing everytime you want to test a new character or ascention.
Im using the same belt as i found in the first act, im now mid act "6". Over 140h i have found 2 belts with +1 to charms. Boots with movementspeed above 10% is 0, except for a unique set that doesnt fit my build. SSF is really tough.
Campaign Boss farming used to be a thing in PoE 1 but that was a very long time ago. It's harder to get stuck in the PoE 1 campaign in my opinion due to the abundance of gear in comparison to PoE 2. Also Unique enemies in PoE 1 aren't that rewarding as there aren't the garunteed drops that you have in PoE 2.
Honestly, I think the loot that drops in this game is pretty damn terrible. Reminds me of Diablo 3 when it launched. 80% of the items that drop aren't even really usable by your class (wrong weapon type, wrong base, etc.).
Has to drop items for other classes, to encourage people to play more than one class. Your warrior ran out of gear and can't progress? Use the looted staff you got on a monk to continue and gather gear on your alts for your main. Nothing worse than only dropping items for one Archetype, discourages variety and replayability
@@mace7077 I get that, but instead of 80% of the items being for other classes and 20% being for warrior it should be the other way around. I don't want to use a staff. If I wanted to use a staff I would have rolled a Monk... but knowing this game, had I rolled a monk it would drop nothing but maces.
I was just thinking the same thing lastnight while farming maps. Very strong diablo 3 vibe on the loot. 99% junk. Thats why pretty much everyone says "you gotta use the market" would rather just find my own shit.
Does anyone know where I can farm an uncut spirit gem? The king of the mists gave me +30 spirit instead so now I have a witch without raging spirits... i can get gaenor down to final 30% health
My monk gets stun locked to death every time he’s hit by more than one mob. 100% of the time. Won’t move or dodge roll. They need to boos the drop rates of orbs in the campaign. With the current state of RNG, it’s nearly impossible to craft good gear to level with when, by level 60, I think I have seen maybe 3 regal orbs and none of any category better than that. And yellows drop so rarely, you can’t even disenchant them to make regals.
i am level 34 HC SSF and i got a same kind of problem, i just do not feel strong enough to take on the final boss of act 2 beause my gear is from level 16 ( good stats ) as i only have 1 change i need to be carefull so i want to farm some gear, but i got no idea where to farm" i guess farming the same level boss or close to your level should provide the best drops, from what i saw a lower boss drops lower level items ( map goes between 18 and 32 ) so i should really farm the last bosses to get some decent gear still it seems really complicated as i do not want to risk anything and yet i need to risk stuff to get gear to progress, so i am kinda stuck in act 2 to get overleveed that much to be safe :S
@@metallicafan416 lol right, which is why MacroBioBoi felt the need to post a video about specifically farming one boss for efficiencies on good gear drops. there isn’t a dedicated area to farm gear over and over without having to reset an instance. playing normally barely drops gear to do anything with.
Think I’m giving up on Poe. Leveling is a chore, brief moments of power followed by getting wiped by everything , just Nita fun experience , I thought Diablo was bad , then this
I'm running magic find all the time in cruel = my resistances are poor, the only time they are good is when I'm struggling with a boss and swap out gear to deal with it, then it's back to wearing magic find and being a glass cannon :-/.
there are just to many usless modifiers on gear it's basicly worse then D4 when it launched. Charms needs to give passive ressists or something it's awful to get capped ressistances for mapping, my char was having 50% chaos ressistance yet i get insta killed by certain chaos attacks.
The shitty thing is GGG doesn't seem to want us to be able to farm a specific monster on repeat. I wouldn't be surprised if they nurf this just like they did when we were farming the Beatle in act 2
It’s a short walk to reset the whole zone this one is intended abusing checkpoints to spawn on a rare is not. I made a div the first 3 days doing the rare farm in about 6 hours mind you this is when a div could buy anything in the game
I did beetle farming literally the last day before patch, friends were confused as to why I wasn't going into grueling low level maps meanwhile I'm filling my inventory with uniques, socket currency, upgrade materials, and currency. No divs tho, my item rarity wasn't even great
That’s why D2/LOD is still played to this day by my friends. We can still come home for lunch break and get some Meph or Baal maybe throw some Shenk/Eldritch in there but yeah the facts can target and get some endorphin pops is awesome. They say they have figured out the recipe but they (GGG) miss one by a long shot. That has always been the one big issue I have with POE and I’ve been playing a long time is that until ur pumping juice at the end everything else is farming some currency just to buy what u need. There’s a huge part of playerbase happiness to be had if they changed some things up for the “on the way” journey to being able to do all the juiced maps. By then we are just collecting everything and not even caring about the low end uniques that matter cause we’re maximizing inventory on 6 portals. There’s have been many times we have left many many copies of all the twins leveling pieces there and most of the time we just filter them out. I still love the game but there are some big wants that have never been filled unfortunately
@@blech71 target farming is a by product of having no endgame there’s not much to do in d2 except personal challenges and collection for collections sake
I have a complaint about what you said about not having the gold to gamble infinitely for gear. Even if you did have a million+ gold the gambler has a limited amount of gear you can gamble on unless I am the only one that is getting a limited number of gambles before the gambler runs out. Then assuming I am the only one seeing this, my gambler only has 1 item restock every time I leveled up. So again, you cannot gamble for infinite items even if you have the gold to do so.
Edit: I may be incorrect. I've never hit a gamble limit but I've only bought 30 or so amulets at a time. Infinite was used here in a more hyperbolic sense but technically correct is one of the best corrects to be.
I have found this as well with the gambler where I can only buy 30ish items and then it doesn't let me buy anymore items from the gambler until the next day
The gambler has a "Stock" that fills up as you kill enemies. There's a small display for it at the bottom of their window. Basically you still need to do SOME farming to continue to gamble for items.
mercenary can go high evasion. I do t15 maps with 89% evasion on my gas grenade mercenary. I'm trying to decide if I want to put all the points in to make acrobatics work but I don't know that it is worth the trade off of having to move so far away on the grid. Basically I've just ignored armor except for on my gloves (got the node that increases evasion based on your glove armor).
More alch orbs. Alching only works on whites, which chancing a white is better in a lot of cases. The endgame potential of alchs is mid at best given omen crafting and other future mechanics. Nobodys going to farm acts for alchs unless their gear sucks or they want to slamfest. Alchs are allready gated by white bases oh no all whites are actally rares die free! Rarity is dead! Well rarity also increases advanced and expert tierdrops as wellas tiered items. Again not a problem.
Only thing propably valuable you scrapped was the mana leech gloves. Useful for mana hungry builds mid game. Great work as always on mechanic and gameplay testing. Having watched that livestream of you dying constantly I have to say your warrior needs a lot of work. Its mostly not your fault cause the class is the weakest but the build was just not it.
@@maxschwediauer9808 you absolutely can. In fact you can look up naked hell baal runs by Lav. Beat the game on every character without any items. For context I Speedrun The original D2 LOD and often beat the game with little to no gear. This narrative youve created does not match reality.
@@MacroBioBoi no not in the original. maybe in d2r with all the buffs which are completly out of control made from a company with incompetent people who knowvery little anything about good arpgs.
POE2 loot drops are Diablo 3 BAD!!! The crafting is dogsh!t so if you are SSF good luck. If GGG doesn't fix the loot drops and crafting this game is DOA.

I think it's great that you do these testings. Everyone else would farm in maps now, not even looking at the early and midgame. So thanks 🙏
I also wish I could just get to maps on this build, but I was struggling. Hopefully this helps others to look for alternatives as well.

The crypts in act 1 cemetery have a boss and a treasure vault each time you load an instance, so that's a good farm
Finally someone who actually asks the question of how to farm up for the good gear, PoE2 is my very first ARPG, i basically jumped in head first and played it without looking at any guides what so ever, when i got to normal act3 i got stuck on the serpent lady, like i REALLY struggled? i felt that my damage was falling off slowly but i was hoping that i would come across good gear at some point right ?
well sadly it didn't that when i caved in and looked up a guide and had to switch some stuff up but what bothered me the most was that there was no way for me acquire decent gear without purchasing it and that's when it dawned on me, how do SSF players get over this hurdle ? what is it they have special ? then i was no longer excited to play when i realized that i can just start a new character get all the good gear when ever i needed step over all the challenge and half the progression. what is the point of crafting when i can simply buy everything i need ? with my mercenary now i am struggling to clear tier 4-5 maps because i refuse to buy the gear i need, i hate it that the crafting is based on gambling, i would rather farm for weeks on end just to get a good crossbow than to spend 50+ orb to reroll good stats or otherwise.
This comment might go unnoticed and i know i went on a whole tangent here but i just feel frustrated over the fact that crafting feels less rewarding and more like a trip to vegas, to be clear i love this this game and i see why its special, i wish the devs nothing but the best and i hope things would change for the better.
The thing is in order to get real good, you have to get specific combinations of armor and weapons and skills and the crafting system allows you to customize it almost endlessly to give you freedom of choice, you randomize affixs just like you would get random gear from a monster, except you get to try and modify and customize it until you get the perfect item for your build, farming the gear and orbs is the game, you don't have to be a trader and buy everything just because many people do, but it could help to uprade a piece here and there via trading, i mean, why not? trading is the oldest profession, why not trade once in a while, it does fit the role playing aspect, you shouldnt feel bad about it, and you never have to do it, it's just an option, play however you like. I was struggling on some bosses myself many times, I used to just go back a little, get a few levels in earlier areas, try and upgrade a piece or two, mmaybe a skill, modify it to make it more effective tfor the boss, get the proper resists, and hustle through it, the challenge makes it fun, otherwise it'd be boring wouldnt it
I found a potentially good farm is the Orok Campfire in Act 3, it's the two rare mobs right near the entrance to the Act 3 town in the first zone

ive been struggling to finish act 3 on my warrior and at first the frustration was palpable but then a stepped away for a day and thought yeah its rough but its a breath of fresh air of not having loads of quality gear dumped into your inventory like a garbage truck. Still trying to finish act 3 and i like the idea that i need to not only find beyter gear i also need to really delve into my passives and see where i need to improve.
I think there are a few bosses that are typically pretty easy to find. In Act 1, you have Beira, and also Areagne and the Brambleghast in the Grelwood. You can usually find one or both pretty quickly. In Act 2, you have Kabala in Keth, or later you can go for the harpy sisters after you've blown the horn. Not sure who I'd go for in act 3.
Just be careful with Bramble for newer players. His one shot can be very annoying to avoid at times.
The Brambleghast or whatever it is in Grelwood is usually quick to find. Just spawn at waypoint then head to the right and up slightly.
as far as the gear you asked that is valuable, what came to my mind was the Marchioness' altar robe of the thunderhead (Increased Spirit and lightning resistance) and then the Miracle Sole Advanced Iron Greaves (has chaos resistance (rare to find while leveling), Lightning Resistance (a decent amount), and Movement Speed (a godsend no matter what in this game)

Another good farming spot is the ghost guy in the cemetery that has the hidden basement thing with all the gold cuz the gold room resets every reset too so you can beat the boss and then grab the gold in the hidden basement thing over and over. And sometimes you can even see the hidden treasure room from the reset waypoint just inside that crypt or whatever so it's easier to have an idea of where to go after killing the boss.
There is more in depth crafting in poe1 that smooths transition from campaign to maps.
I have heard ina few interviews that poe2 was trying to go for the mech/baal runs like in D2.
Played thousands of hrs in poe1, was running crab boss as I tried different gems/builds and ended up running into this strategy when I basically upgraded most of my gear.
One solid tip I can give to you guys struggling with finding gear. Level doesn't matter nearly as much as in other games, just pay attention to what stats come on what pieces (or look them up) and try to find that stat that you want for your build. For example, I usually look for attack speed on gloves, if I find that AND crit damage/crit chance, it will become a piece I save and use or work on. After a while you get a feel for what stats come on what types of pieces and it will become a lot easier to gear up on the go. (the item level does affect the bonus stat ranges and your base like armor/energy shield or base attack.)
Quicker to use the way point at the boss and go to the waypoint north to the next zone. Then ctrl+click the zone entrance to reset. That way you are entering the boss zone from above and you're closer to her spawn point.
I "upgraded" to better base gear to try and beat act 2 the first time. Base energy shield was much higher than what I was using. Because items could only be made magical with two affixes, they ended up being way worse than the earlier rares I had been using.
Struggle bussing here, bloodmage. Got my skills right but now accidentally broke my gear somehow. Def using your advice tonight. Appreciate the low/midgame deep dive

Silver Fist in act 3/6 generally spawns near the waypoint. Often you agro it just by entering the instance.
i would like to also recommend act 3 - in the spirit bosses zone "azag bog" i think. there is that tile where you can set aflame this big wicker man for the zone limited 25% fire resistance buff. i use that place to make a couple levels every time i go through it. that room is rather stacked with enemies, often a pack or a rare included. can clear, and reset to checkpoint. good xp, and loot can be decent. but tbf, mostly xp.

In poe 1, I've never done it personally, but some people run blood aqueducts. I did a few runs on this boss in act 1 because the devourer knocked me on my butt 2 or 3 times. My build wasn't functional until act 4. All the problems I had were pre cruel difficulty because I couldn't get a decent weapon until then. I also play warrior.

I remember farming in poe 1 boss before first city for a day to get overgeared for first 2couple of hours of game xD testing things seems like a good excuse to waste some time in good faith to save it for someone else :)
my buddies and i would also make some throw away characters to get some extra skill gems to start with lol
I don't play SSF so I had the option to trade for my upgrades, but would have loved to known about this at the time so I could have avoided spending currency. Great tip in my opinion and will consider it on my next class.

im just in act 2 rn on my first character. it got to the point in act 1 where fighting groups was just so inefficient that I just suicide ran throguh maps and fought the bosses. and they arent even brick walls either. I manage to get through bosses on 15-60 mins on average. mind you act 2 takes longer with this damn usa sized maps.
I ONLY JUST about an hour ago got a rare weapon drop that essentially doubled my dps. I noted earlier in my playthrough that all my drops were just statistically ass. esp weapon dmg. so much so that this is kind of the only weapon I've seen that does that lvl of phys dmg. a true outlier. I went from dying against these lightning beetles right back to surviving like normal. they'll still crack my health bar, but the dmg im putting out makes it balanced like when I first started. crazy
so to hear you say the phrase "didnt get great drops as they were progressing the campaign themselves" assures me that im not pit-terrible, im just unlucky sometimes and pit-terrible

I was not able to use the trade site during my first run to map, so I did some farming in cruel.
Farmed the act 1 cemetery, three named boss close to each other, kinda easy to fight
Farmed act 2:
Dreaknough boss fight, high density monster finishing by an act boss and that’s when the advanced dualstring bow start dropping.
Did not really need to farm 3
i did the boss before the act 1 final boss in the mansion. i killed this one at least 15 times with my first char to find something nice. and i farmed the small ones before too because a few more level can add up too.
Personally I really like to farm act3 chimera. You WP to temple of chaos. Run hugging the top side of the map. 95% of the time you find the "flower" miniboss and around 50% of the time the camp with 3 chests on the way.
I've been farming this boss since the game launched. I caught on that she was right next to a waypoint.
I also think GGG was aware and they moved her farther away. She used to be literally almost right by the waypoint. Then after a patch, I noticed that she was farther away. Still not a bad walk, but the moving of her did let it be known they are/were aware of it.
There was another farming spot that was better, but it was more of an exploit. The Beetle boss in Act II, I think. You could kill him, do any skill to consume his corpse. Then you'd just let the little beetles kill you and you'd respawn right by the waypoint where he was and he'd spawned back in again. You could farming him literally in 10 seconds or less.

Great video macro, have done some similar farms on hardcore so here's some bits of info i found:
Act 1/4
For Veira (the boss you did) - it's faster to reset at the entrance to the grelwood, it's just southeast of the boss spawn and about 1/2 the walking distance from the waypoint.
You can also do Brambleghast / Areagne in the grelwood.
Praetors Tomb is another good 1 with the loot room / boss
Act 2/5
Keth - you can do the loot room + Kabala, constrictor queen. This tends to have a small tileset and is easily doable.
Halani Gates: L'im the impaler, short walk but always within close walking distance from the zone start.
Acts 3/6
the Jungle camps in Infested Barrens + Jungle Ruins always have spawns fairly close to the waypoint i've found.
the best IMO for act 3 however is the Orok Campfire.
Leave town back into the Marsh, follow the baskets / cross the bridge = always the same

I am going back , but the LVL is reduced back Act 1. How do you get it to my Act 3 LVL?
This is act 1 in cruel difficulty.
You should exalt slam that amulet! At this level you can already get pretty decent stuff when it comes to ring / amulet
There is one problem with this method and that is "Area Level".
Gear that drops will have severely lower stats rolls and on some items even prevent certain rolls from rolling on an item, than an item dropped at the higher Area Levels.
So i would argue farming 1 area level below your current pain threshold is the better way to farm because you also gain decent experience still, by not over leveling the area you are in to the point of penalizing your exp gains.
When i first stepped into endgame i died a lot it wasnt a gear issue for me it was a skill tree issue i spent an hour fixing my nodes and had a way easier time now

People definately don't value magic items enough I don't know if it's cause they are used to being spammed with orange items in D4, and how useless magic items are in that game but a good piece of early game gear is three good stats for your build. Often this means a well rolled piece of magic gear you find then upgraded to rare with a regal orb. Almost all my gear for my first run as a warbringer was acquired this way I and breezed to end maps relatively. I did also luck out and crafted a very good hammer I spent 6 exalts In in the end with this method (ssf)
probably not just D4 players but POE1 players, once you get full rares in Act 1 you would never look at a blue item again
Jamanra is super easy to get to compared to the other act bosses. Dreadnought Vanguard is small compared to Black Chambers and Ogham Manor.
Most of the good/great gear I found in POE1 I got through the trade site. But with the economy being worthess right now in EA, I've been stuck with RNG and garbage drops. There simply isn't enough regal/exalts dropping to buy much.
38 spirit armor would of been very handy early on you could get an extra buff running

Also to answer your question target farming a zone to level and round out some gear in modes like ssf is completely normal for a new character in Poe 1
When you start missing mobs and dying, accuracy becomes pretty important. And good to know!
@ well in Poe 1 people got so efficient at completely destroying the campaign you would often be super under leveled for maps and when you under level or over level a zone by too much you basically get no xp so farming a high density zone before mapping was mostly to catch up in levels

i found the executioner to be a good farm boss. directly west from waypoint. go to next map, rinse and repeat. easy rares. do not craft. if you get exalted orbs trading will be much more valuable.

All my best gear comes from the regular vendors, gambling vendor or lucky crafting.

Thanks for this. Saddly, the trash gearing during campaing was not addressed on GGG last transmition. They will only focus on endgame... Which is funny, since they want you to run the entire fucking campaing everytime you want to test a new character or ascention.
Im using the same belt as i found in the first act, im now mid act "6". Over 140h i have found 2 belts with +1 to charms. Boots with movementspeed above 10% is 0, except for a unique set that doesnt fit my build. SSF is really tough.
Campaign Boss farming used to be a thing in PoE 1 but that was a very long time ago. It's harder to get stuck in the PoE 1 campaign in my opinion due to the abundance of gear in comparison to PoE 2. Also Unique enemies in PoE 1 aren't that rewarding as there aren't the garunteed drops that you have in PoE 2.
I would honestly recommend at least getting the currency tab. It would clear up a LOT of room for you, the gem tab would help a bit as well...
Dumb question how do you reset the map? I know it auto reset I think every 8 minutes if you’re not in there but how do you do it on purpose

Honestly, I think the loot that drops in this game is pretty damn terrible. Reminds me of Diablo 3 when it launched. 80% of the items that drop aren't even really usable by your class (wrong weapon type, wrong base, etc.).
Has to drop items for other classes, to encourage people to play more than one class. Your warrior ran out of gear and can't progress? Use the looted staff you got on a monk to continue and gather gear on your alts for your main. Nothing worse than only dropping items for one Archetype, discourages variety and replayability
@@mace7077 I get that, but instead of 80% of the items being for other classes and 20% being for warrior it should be the other way around. I don't want to use a staff. If I wanted to use a staff I would have rolled a Monk... but knowing this game, had I rolled a monk it would drop nothing but maces.
I was just thinking the same thing lastnight while farming maps. Very strong diablo 3 vibe on the loot. 99% junk. Thats why pretty much everyone says "you gotta use the market" would rather just find my own shit.
If every item you wanted dropped it would take the fun out of it. Gotta have that grind. It’s what makes Diablo 2 so great still to this day.

There isn't an "instead", you get both. Check your inventory or talk to the Finn character. Might need to turn in the quest.

My monk gets stun locked to death every time he’s hit by more than one mob. 100% of the time. Won’t move or dodge roll.
They need to boos the drop rates of orbs in the campaign. With the current state of RNG, it’s nearly impossible to craft good gear to level with when, by level 60, I think I have seen maybe 3 regal orbs and none of any category better than that. And yellows drop so rarely, you can’t even disenchant them to make regals.

i am level 34 HC SSF and i got a same kind of problem, i just do not feel strong enough to take on the final boss of act 2 beause my gear is from level 16 ( good stats )

i guess farming the same level boss or close to your level should provide the best drops, from what i saw a lower boss drops lower level items ( map goes between 18 and 32 ) so i should really farm the last bosses to get some decent gear
still it seems really complicated as i do not want to risk anything and yet i need to risk stuff to get gear to progress, so i am kinda stuck in act 2 to get overleveed that much to be safe :S
I just wish there was an area to farm gear.
edit: a dedicated area to farm gear without having to reset the instance of an area.

I'm running magic find all the time in cruel = my resistances are poor, the only time they are good is when I'm struggling with a boss and swap out gear to deal with it, then it's back to wearing magic find and being a glass cannon :-/.
there are just to many usless modifiers on gear it's basicly worse then D4 when it launched. Charms needs to give passive ressists or something it's awful to get capped ressistances for mapping, my char was having 50% chaos ressistance yet i get insta killed by certain chaos attacks.
The shitty thing is GGG doesn't seem to want us to be able to farm a specific monster on repeat. I wouldn't be surprised if they nurf this just like they did when we were farming the Beatle in act 2
It’s a short walk to reset the whole zone this one is intended abusing checkpoints to spawn on a rare is not. I made a div the first 3 days doing the rare farm in about 6 hours mind you this is when a div could buy anything in the game
I did beetle farming literally the last day before patch, friends were confused as to why I wasn't going into grueling low level maps meanwhile I'm filling my inventory with uniques, socket currency, upgrade materials, and currency.
No divs tho, my item rarity wasn't even great
That’s why D2/LOD is still played to this day by my friends. We can still come home for lunch break and get some Meph or Baal maybe throw some Shenk/Eldritch in there but yeah the facts can target and get some endorphin pops is awesome. They say they have figured out the recipe but they (GGG) miss one by a long shot.
That has always been the one big issue I have with POE and I’ve been playing a long time is that until ur pumping juice at the end everything else is farming some currency just to buy what u need. There’s a huge part of playerbase happiness to be had if they changed some things up for the “on the way” journey to being able to do all the juiced maps. By then we are just collecting everything and not even caring about the low end uniques that matter cause we’re maximizing inventory on 6 portals. There’s have been many times we have left many many copies of all the twins leveling pieces there and most of the time we just filter them out. I still love the game but there are some big wants that have never been filled unfortunately

I have a complaint about what you said about not having the gold to gamble infinitely for gear. Even if you did have a million+ gold the gambler has a limited amount of gear you can gamble on unless I am the only one that is getting a limited number of gambles before the gambler runs out. Then assuming I am the only one seeing this, my gambler only has 1 item restock every time I leveled up. So again, you cannot gamble for infinite items even if you have the gold to do so.
Edit: I may be incorrect. I've never hit a gamble limit but I've only bought 30 or so amulets at a time. Infinite was used here in a more hyperbolic sense but technically correct is one of the best corrects to be.
I have found this as well with the gambler where I can only buy 30ish items and then it doesn't let me buy anymore items from the gambler until the next day
The gambler has a "Stock" that fills up as you kill enemies. There's a small display for it at the bottom of their window. Basically you still need to do SOME farming to continue to gamble for items.

Yeah I am playing grenade mercenary and can’t find anything that helps out my energy shield cause the armor build sucks.
mercenary can go high evasion. I do t15 maps with 89% evasion on my gas grenade mercenary. I'm trying to decide if I want to put all the points in to make acrobatics work but I don't know that it is worth the trade off of having to move so far away on the grid. Basically I've just ignored armor except for on my gloves (got the node that increases evasion based on your glove armor).
@@redleg1376 When you are going high evasion are you taking the nodes that increase armor and evasion or just trying to roll it on gear/buy it?
More alch orbs. Alching only works on whites, which chancing a white is better in a lot of cases. The endgame potential of alchs is mid at best given omen crafting and other future mechanics. Nobodys going to farm acts for alchs unless their gear sucks or they want to slamfest. Alchs are allready gated by white bases

Well rarity also increases advanced and expert tierdrops as wellas tiered items. Again not a problem.
Only thing propably valuable you scrapped was the mana leech gloves. Useful for mana hungry builds mid game.

Having watched that livestream of you dying constantly I have to say your warrior needs a lot of work. Its mostly not your fault cause the class is the weakest but the build was just not it.

For context I Speedrun The original D2 LOD and often beat the game with little to no gear. This narrative youve created does not match reality.

POE2 loot drops are Diablo 3 BAD!!! The crafting is dogsh!t so if you are SSF good luck. If GGG doesn't fix the loot drops and crafting this game is DOA.
