I have shot a Mini 14 in a CMP match many years ago using 55 grain Win white box from Walmart. It was a 600 yard match open sights with sling instead of rest. Not pretty but on target. This was when AR15s were just coming to matches and preferred my M1 Grand . Enjoyed the video!
I'll speculate that you know for sure what this rifle does at 200 or so. Pretty cool what a guy can do if he just gives it a shot, or 5. Don't recall the last time I shot much past 300, although on coyotes I went for years by the saying "if there's lead in the air, there's a prayer"
The Tarzan flip line cracked me up👍. Nice to see you brothers giving each other a hard time in a loving way😂. Interesting seeing the potential of the mini 14. I've never owned one. Take care fellas.🇺🇲🌲🔥🤔
probably just a loose stock, the receiver is sort of similar to a Garand so i recommend bedding it with a bit of GM Silicone Black. that nosepiece hitting the stock is always an issue though, it always disperses your shots left to right alternately
And... Depends on your eyes, and the quality and precision of your irons, as to how much difference a scope would make. At 66, I can still generally take a deer at a hundred or a bit better with buckhorn sights. A deer standing in snow is in trouble to 250 or so if I'm shooting the peep sighted .300 Savage Seeing the target is the key as you age. I've got a Model 70 25-06 that is capable of incredible shots... In one of my son's hands, and with their vision
A nice video, mini-14 a liuttle better than I thought. Sadly, all i can think of while you're shooting is- "How many years since the last time he cleaned it?"
If you've ever shot a mini 14 and were fortunate enough to have reliable magazines, you'd know that they string quickly due to barrels that are too light and a gas system unsuited for anything more powerful than .30 M1 Carbine. Some people have luck rebarreling these things with bull barrels, but they are no way as accurate as AR platform weapons. The Mini-14 at its best is as accurate as the AKM, but is typically a 4-6 MOA pie plate jam-o-matic whose flash is blinding without a flash suppressor. It really is a substandard weapon that only survives today because tyrant states like California deem it "legal." A Kel-Tec SU16 is a better weapon than a Mini 14. It is a garbage weapon.
That's funny, because in his next video with this rifle he scopes it and proceeds to make consistent hits on a standard silhouette target at 665 yds. in a heavy wind and even pulls off a couple at 750.
If you believe a mini 14 is some sort of wonder weapon and makes shots in high winds you've never fired one or a 5.56N. You should stick to paintball or first person shooter video games. No one takes you seriously.
The Mini 14 is also reliable and low maintenance. We had over 5000 rounds through the one in this video with no cleaning and no oiling with 0 malfunctions. If you have actually shot one you'd know they are moderately accurate. The obviously aren't made for precision long range shooting but we were able to get 4/5 hits at 665 yards with wind on a full size silhouette and 2/5 at 750. That's pretty damn good for a 5.56. Porter is an excellent long range shooter and that obviously helps. A novice long range shooter could not have made those hits but an experienced shooter can make an average weapon a decent shooter even in bad conditions.

The Mini 14 sure is a capable rifle, so is the m1 garand. Thanks for watching!
You’ve got a great set of eyes, Porter! Love seeing the Randall when y’all are “Suiting up” in the introduction.
Thank you! And yes that's a nice knife
Cowboys out slaying some sacred cows, keep it up! Great stuff.
Thanks! Will do!

Love the mini 14 and other calibers along with it! Great video
Thanks 👍
I can’t lay prone no more since my neck was fused it’s impossible to get my head to go back that far but you are doing great at it
Sorry to hear that and thank you!

folks reported a moderate increase in accuracy when they loosened and re-torqued the gas block/nosecap to 20 inch-lbs. hth🇺🇸
Those are nice little guns 👍
Yes they are!

That's very true. I've seen some people shoot irons with extreme precision
Another great video!! Very interesting!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Too far for me even with a scope.
A pick up bed has a thousand and one uses :-)
Yes they certainly do!
thinking about installing a cheap ladder rack on my truck bed and throwing camo netting or a tarp over it for shade, while scouting for coyotes

Well it's been cleaned once now... and that was just a few months ago. Before that it hadn't been cleaning since 2008 or so 😆
🤔 never saw down range?
We are working on a better setup for our spotting scope camera. We should have it all ready for the scoped video dropping soon
I wish my hair would grow as fast as Porters. Just a few days ago it was a lot shorter.
👍
55gr nosler varmageden 26gr varget but dont tell anybody its our secret
👍
No one o n the ne issues going get into a gun fight that far away
That's right so it's more than effective as a PDW

@@rmichaelzachary8574 go watch our video where we make hits at 750 yards with wind. Did you even watch this video? Lol
