Great reaction man! I had Matej winning round one 51-49 (very close), and Matej winning round two 57--43 (in the video format). In the livestream, it was even more decisive - Josh-O has really benefitted from the video mixing as he sounded much more flat and made a lot of noticeable mistakes in the livestream. You were right to pick up on the superior mixing from Matej.
I also found that squeak noise did not help Josh-O's second round at all - the background beat was sick and didn't need it.
Matej's second round was so well structured and hit hard. Josh-O will only get better with more stage experience - he doesn't have too much yet so hopefully this GBB will help him refine his routines for live performances much better!

Not to discredit Matej, he did amazing and deserves his wins. But people make it sound like he came up with his routines in 1 week. Sure, maybe he didn't have time to come up with specific attacks against first round opponents like in other battles, but with Matej being added in late Josh O also had 1 week to come up with attacks. Many of his rounds were created in 2022, and he had probably been practicing them for months. Might've been the first time he debuted the dubstep track publicly but definitely did not come up with it and practice it in 1 week. Matej used the rounds he had already practiced for months and killed it thanks to hard work and practice, as well as talent.
Nobody turns up to GBB with routines they came up with just after wildcards.

@@PomuLeafEveryday Nobody is pretending like he come up with a whole bunch of routines over the course of a week. People are giving him credit because one week prep to go to the biggest competition in the world is crazy. There's a huge difference between sitting at home, coming up with and practicing routines, and preparing to being on stage, in front of the lights, in front of a crowd, knowing your performance is going to be seen by thousands of people in a battle.
You've clearly never been competitive at the highest level of anything in your life.

    • @PomuLeafEveryday

@Helldog6 You don't know anything about me so don't make assumptions about me, we're talking about loopers. I get it, being told you have to fly over in a week might be rough mentally, but Matej has been in the game for so long as he does a lot of shows in front of crowds, in fact they all have a background in stage performance. He makes his money from performing, his confidence on stage isn't unfounded. Heck, he's the Austrian winner and has competed in many other competitions. They're all the best in the world at their craft, they won't be nobodies with no stage experience. Doesn't matter if it's GBB, world champs, or the local Austrian competition, if you're not ready for the stage you're not ready for the stage. Doesn't matter if you had 1 week, or 3 months to mentally prep for it. I still don't see why it's such a big talking point, and it is being framed as if he only practiced his routines for 1 week, they're routines he's been practicing since 2022 and already has stage experience performing them at other competitions. If it wasn't GBB, you can bet your ass he was prepping to be on stage for other competitions and shows (some of which actually compensate competitors for appearing). It might be a disadvantage, but its not as much of a disadvantage as people are making it out to be. Can't we just say he's talented and hard working, and deserves his win instead of pushing meaningless talking points where the only outcome is misleading people?
Heck, GBB doesn't even pay competitors prize money except the actual winner, and majority of the prize value is sweet gear paid for by the sponsor instead of life changing cash. He was there for fun and a good show, it shows in his attitude. The people are there for the community more than they are actually competing, which is why they often just reuse routines for GBB instead of creating whole new ones. I can't see these top of their craft performers really stressing over it that much. Even Brez said he'd just take it easy this year as he's had so much going on this year and GBB was low on his list of priorities.
Imo, to credit him so much on that 1 week notice discredits the months he's actually put into those routines he performed on stage.

You're quickly becoming one of my favorite beatbox reactors lol
Not gonna lie, wasn't a huge fan of Matej coming into this event, but he definitely delivered - and only on one weeks notice, which is crazy. That's probably way the battle energy was particularly low, as he had almost no prep time. Either way, he killed this battle, and Josh-O was also good.
I also think the difference in sound quality is very clear here as well. Matej sounded almost like full tracks, where as Josh-O - as much as I like him - didn't feel as clean. Almost muffled - maybe that muffled isn't the right word but the sound quality played a huge factor in my enjoyment in Matej's rounds.

  • @ginja9722

I do think Matej's second round was a "battle move" towards to Josh O's Second round because Josh was saying that hes going to win and Matej was saying "You're Dreaming" also it was a 4-1 I'm not sure why Scott said Split Decision

    • @abhisheknair8437

Matej honestly came into prevalence before Josh O had his moment. He got like about 3rd in GBB 21 Wildcard, 12th or smth in GBB 21 Elims, and his music really is a unique and addictive style. What I like about him the most is some the music he makes also includes guitars and real shakers, and each of his drums are within 1 or 2 layers, not really layering many drums over each other. His slightly off tune style is also a bit of a stylistic choice to feel more authentic imo. Def check out more from him he's sick!
