Just noticed the editing mistake at 11:42 and 14:49. Accidentally misplaced the text in the wrong spaces. Didn’t notice until after the premiere. Sorry about that. But anyways, stay tuned for the next one.
Kathleen Delaney was perfect as Rouge. Gave her the perfect amount of sass, flirtation and was even serious when she needed to be. I really hate Karen Strassman as Rouge. Never liked her take as Rouge tbh especially in TSR. Rebecca Honig was cute as Cream. Although she got a bit too high pitched during Season 3 of Sonic X and some of Rush but she got better again by the end of her run in the 2010 Winter Olympics. I think that was the only game you missed out in this video.
Kathleen sucked as Rouge. She sounded too old and unfitting as well as unnatural as Rouge. Coming from SA2 and Heroes her voice deepening really affected Rouge. If her first voice was deep I’d probably be down with it, but I doubt it. Not only that, but Kathleen wasn’t even trying. She sounds emotionless, especially in 06. And you hate Karen Strassman? She was great as Rouge and actually sounds like a teenager. And at least she was trying. However no-one can ever beat Lani Minella. Lani IS Rouge, since she debuted the voice and made me love Rouge as my favorite female Sonic character. Not to mention that she actually showed emotion, just like David Humphrey as Shadow. Her JP VA is also fantastic as Rouge.
@@JustAnAverageSonicFan I disagree. I think Karen Strassman is awful as Rouge. I find her very overhyped within the fandom. She sounds way too one note and has gotten worse over the years. She went from making Rouge sound one note (in Generations and Free Riders) to nowadays just sounding incredibly high pitched (Forces, Team Sonic Racing) which doesn’t fit a character like Rouge. Lani Minella’s Rouge had a more medium range where her voice for Rouge wasn’t too high or low, she kept it mostly moderate which I liked and works as a foundation voice. But I feel like Kathleen perfected Rouge further by giving her a persona that gels with the character and her deep voice elevated that. Personally, I liked some of her deliveries in 06. I don’t think she was all bad in that game. It was more a case of the performance being hit and miss for me. But I still like the way she sounds. And to be fair, the performances in that game were always gonna be affected because of the rushed nature of the title. Even though it wasn’t her best performance, I thought it was still an improvement from Shadow. But even at her weakest, she still has some great line reads. Plus I think she’s great in other games like Rivals, Riders, ZG, Rivals 2 and even non games such as Sonic X. She’s equally great at giving Rouge both flirtatious persona and emotion. But Karen is only restricted to just making her sound constantly on tap and nothing more which makes her too one note. She still sounds terrible even now in games like Dream Team where her Rouge voice has now evolved into sounding like Minnie Mouse Amy more than Rouge.
Also I love Cream's voice so soft kind adorable character like cream is supposed to. I'll imagine if cream grown as a character to main girl of 7 - 8 could sound even more softer and better kindly adorable like that before
Maybe but there are already a few videos just like that on RUclips, and I want to focus on characters that don’t have solo evolution videos yet but maybe soon
Some people say Kathleen Delaney is miscasted as Rouge because she sounds like an adult woman instead of an 18 year old, but I think she did a good job voicing Rouge in Sonic X and some other Sonic Games around the Dark Era. Rebecca Honig made Cream the Rabbit sound extra cute especially with her high pitched voice and I love that about her especially when Cream has her kind moments in Sonic X. Overall these two voice actresses did a great job voicing Rouge and Cream.👍🏻
Erm…no offense but I hope you’re joking. Kathleen didn’t do a good job as Rouge, she only did less. Her voice was too masculine-sounding for Rouge when Rouge is clearly a very feminine character, and she just sounded monotone. Sure she was sassy in Sonic X and Rivals 2, but whenever she tried to be sassy she just came off as awkwardly masculine and forced. :/ Rebecca Honig also made Cream sound annoying in Sonic X Season 3 and Sonic Rush, since her voice was inconsistent in tone, and becoming way too high-pitched. At least Wulfeck from Sonic Heroes kept her tone consistent. I get the idea that people only think that Rebecca was the best Cream and that Sarah Wulfeck was the worst simply because of nostalgia, considering they have the same portrayal. But that’s just me, you don’t have to agree, I guess.
@@JustAnAverageSonicFan Uhhhhh, actually no I'm not joking. I don't mind Kathleen Delaney as Rouge and Rebecca Hoing as Cream. Sure Rouge sounds masculine and Cream's voice is high pitched, but I actually don't mind that.
@@rainbowtoyfunrandomess1982okay, I’ll give you a pass for Rebecca as Cream, but Kathleen as Rouge? No. Haven’t you heard Rouge’s voice in Japanese? Her Japanese voice sounds moderately pitched, not too far on the deeer end and feminine. She sets the gold standards for how Rouge should sound. Lani Minella and Karen Strassman were worthy successors because they had the right tone and voice for Rouge unlike Kathleen. You can’t possibly tell me that you’d rather Rouge sound dead inside than her sounding her age, youthful, energetic, playful, and actually sounding like she wants to be there. But to each their own, I guess.
@@rainbowtoyfunrandomess1982hey, aren’t you gonna reply to what I said? Also I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful about your opinion, sorry if you misunderstood my first reply.
I love her as rouge to begin with but my only problem is that she sounds like a old woman, which is a little bit weird so. Nothing against Kathleen Delaney's voicing rouge
@@JustAnAverageSonicFanactually yes she does sound old, Kathleen made Rouge sound like a mother, which sounds jarring considering that Rouge and Wave The Swallow share the same age, with Wave actually sounding her age.
@@TheTrollingPokémon247actually now that I think of it, you’re definitely right. Idk what I was thinking when she said she doesn’t sound old and only unnatural as Rouge, as there’s no way in hell she sounds like a teenager.
I feel the fans of the original cast are opposed to Kathleen and many other 4Kids Sonic actors simply for them being different rather than how well the voice fits the character. There are two ways you can look at recasting, either the new actor will do an impression of the previous one or they do their own thing they think would fit the character. Kathleen would fall into the later (as would Griffith's Shadow voice), but in my opinion it fits Rouge fine. It's the kind of voice I think about when I look at her design. Her sounding bored or monotone was a problem...sometimes (mostly due to her being given uninteresting lines), but other times she had sass, she was sultry, and she could get sad sometimes. It didn't help that post Sonic 06, Rouge was shelved to appease game journalists mad about Sonic's "stupid little friends", so Kathleen didn't have much of an opportunity to improve like Jason, Amy, Lisa, and Mike. I know the other people in the comment section will bring up Rouge's age, how she's 17 or 18. But let me ask you this, have you ever thought about how much the age affects the characters beyond them running off and having adventures. I saw the Sonic cast being made mid to late teens as a cheap way to get kids to connect with the Sonic cast. "Look kids, this Sonic character is the same age as you, that means you can be just as cool as they are." I don't think much would change about their behavior if you aged them up a bit, unless they are clearly meant to be kids like Tails, Cream, and Charmy. Sonic and Rouge don't really act like 15 or 18 year old's, so what would the difference be if they were 21 or 24? I certainly didn't care when I found out Goku was an adult. And before you say, "but this is video games, surely suspension of disbelief should take precedent right?" No! Suspension of disbelief allows me to say "yes, this is a world where hedgehogs and bats are intelligent and have super powers." That does not mean they can just do whatever at whatever age they are! Besides original cast fans, you go from arguing how it makes no sense for her to sound like that at 18, but then you turn around and ask me not to think about it when I ask why she is that young. And I don't care if you are going to argue "well SEGA said so, so it must be true", that is an appeal to authority fallacy. Besides trying to explore the life spans of these anatomically inaccurate animals is an exorcise in futility because SEGA has never really explained what being 18 means for these hedgehogs and bats (as in do they age like their nonintelligent counter parts, like dogs, or like humans). As for Rebecca Honig as Cream, I think she falls into the former category. She does sound like Cream's previous actress, maybe a little better. She's fine.
Okay fine, you’ve made your point. I’ll give you that. The problem with her voice is the *inconsistency.* To me, it’s so jarring to hear her voice out of Rouge. The problem is that Kathleen wasn’t a faithful replacement to the original voice actress, Lani Minella. Lani Minella had the same pitch as that of the Japanese VA, Rumi Ochiai, so someone with the same pitch should’ve been casted to carry out Rumi’s and Lani’s legacy. Unfortunately they f’ed up considering they’re literally 4Kids. Kathleen sounded awkwardly out of place from the rest of the cast, it felt weird that she felt older than the rest of the cast instead of in her place with them, even older than VECTOR, who is canonically 2 years OLDER than Rouge. If her 1st voice was deep (which actually would’ve been possible considering Lani has a lot of vocal range and even voiced Ivy Valentine from SoulCalibur at one point and gave her a deep voice,) then Kathleen would’ve been a fitting replacement. It’s the same thing that happened with Knuckles, Scott Dreier and Michael McGaharn had moderate-deep pitched voices that were mellow and fit the character, but then they made a mistake with the casting when they casted Dan Green, who gave Knuckles a gravelly, high-pitched voice that didn’t sound ANYTHING like the original basis of what Scott left off for him. What’s even more jarring about the case for Rouge is that she didn’t set a standard for the next voice actress (which I am grateful for regardless of the argument I’m going to make) and they went back to the portrayals of the Japanese and original VA when they casted Karen Strassman, so it basically feels like Rouge started off her age, aged up 30 more years, and then aged back down to where she started, compared to Knuckles who stuck to the standard set by Dan for the next actors like Travis Willingham. Kathleen isn’t a terrible actress by any means, but she doesn’t have the voice of Rouge at all. As for Cream, no, Rebecca isn’t better than the previous actress. Rebecca was actually the first one to voice Cream, simply doing the generic high-pitched voice you could throw on any character you want. Was it better than Wulfeck in Heroes? No. I can’t say I care for the high-pitched without any spin approach they went for until Sonic Free Riders, so I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the Heroes voice for Cream either, but she’s at least better than Rebecca since she is more energetic and lively and keeps her tone consistent most of the time, compared to Rebecca whose tone was inconsistent most of the time and got even more higher-pitched in later games. As for Rebecca’s delivery, she falls flat on most of her lines, which is another downside of her performance. To me, Michelle Ruff is above both for making Cream actually sound like a kid instead of doing an impression of the other two, rather she bases her voice off of them and put her own spin to it. Sorry for this little rant which wasted your time, but still.
@@TheTrollingPokémon247 I don't mind different voices as long as they fit the character. No offence to Lani, I just just like Kathleen better. But I see your point with inconsistency. I can accept different voices for characters even if they are different from a previous actor. Neal Patrick Harris got to play Spider-Man in a show that takes it's cues from the first movie. I didn't get mad when he didn't do an impression of Toby, and was just left to mess around with his interpretation of Peter/ Spider-Man.
Ik Giratina beat me to correcting the mistakes you made, but here’s two minor things I want to correct you on: 1. No, it’s not only the original cast fans who hate Kathleen’s voice, I mean sure there are most original cast fans like me who hate their voice, but most of them don’t even prefer Lani Minella as their favorite Rouge voice, and prefer Karen Strassman instead. It’s pretty much anyone who didn’t grow up with the 4Kids cast who dislike her voice, and they dislike it for a valid reason. You shouldn’t only lash out on the original cast fans, you should lash out on everyone else too. And 2. There actually would be a difference if Rouge was aged up 10 years, because Sonic and Rouge actually DO act like 15 or 18 year-olds. Sonic has a cocky side that shows well in Sonic Heroes, but also has a mature side which is shown in Sonic and the Black Knight, but at the end of the day, he’s cocky and loves adventure, simple as that. Rouge also acts her age, since you’ve seen her flirt with Knuckles (Knuckles is close to Rouge’s canon age as well,) and have this playful attitude that showed in the Dreamcast Era, so to have her voice fail to show that comes off as super jarring. Where the hell do you get the idea that Sonic and Rouge don’t act their ages, do you even play the games? Also it kind of makes you a hypocrite if you say that Jason was the better Sonic when you claim that he doesn’t act like a 15 year-old but then like Kathleen Delaney while also saying that Rouge doesn’t act like she’s 18, because Sonic should still sound like a teenager who has energy, so why not have the same for Rouge? If you like Jason as Sonic you might as well also like Karen as Rouge, or if you prefer Kathleen’s Rouge you may as well prefer Roger Craig Smith for Sonic since he makes Sonic sound 6 years older, pretty much the same age you claim that Sonic acts. Think about that? I don’t see why you chose to keep defending Kathleen in the end, since the logic you’ve provided continues to fall flat on every aspect. Next time, think about the points you want to make and go through them before you leave your comment.
@@JustAnAverageSonicFan For your info, I have played the games. And I have to ask, since when was a cocky side specific to 15 year old's? And when was flirting specific to 17 year old's? By that logic, Spider-Man should not be cocky anymore, since he's 24. By that logic, Black Cat shouldn't flirt with guys because she's no longer a teen. And what makes you think I like the modern cast? The only ones out of them I liked were Hate Higgins as Tails and Mike Pollock returning as Eggman. As for the old cast, I still enjoy most of them. My point was that Sonic/ Rouge's ages are irrelevant. And for the romance Rouge makes towards Knuckles, that just came out of nowhere. All Rouge should know about Knuckles is that he's some weird thug who guards the master emerald. All he should know about her is that she is a jewel thief who's helping Dr Eggman. It's almost as though we've skipped a game in-between and these two are almost in love with each other, almost like someone wanted that in their fanfiction. She spends 70% of the game without him and doesn't even mention him to Shadow or Eggman. I have major criticisms of the story in Sonic Adventure 2, far beyond this. And as for Roger's Sonic, the reason it's more a problem for him and not for Kathleen's Rouge, is because he's a vastly different character than her. Kathleen's Rouge is more calm, collected, confident, laid back, and a little playful. You wouldn't need her to be 17 for her to be like that. Plus the characters that she usually ends up dubbing aren't that far off from Rouge's age. Roger's Sonic is trying to be a dumb jock who cracks jokes with teen lingo speech, they think kids will enjoy. Since he mostly plays more serious characters like Chris Redfeild, Batman, and Captain America, it's very jarring, especially when the dialog is very clearly trying to insist to you that he is a teen. It doesn't help when he is trying to be serious in Frontiers. Since he's only ever played the dumb jock Sonic before this, it sounds like Sonic Boom Sonic doing a mocking impression of someone serious.
I know rouge is just a cartoon bat but dam that voice is hot, I personally couldn't listen to her if it were any other voice, and believe me once heard others, their nowhere near as good
What a horrendous take. Every voice for Rouge, from Lani Minella to Kazumi Evans, is infinitely better than this voice. Rouge is a young and flirty character, and she’s f••king (censoring to prevent my comment from being hidden) 18, and 18-year-olds don’t sound as deep as this. Lani Minella and Karen Strassman sound Rouge’s age and have the right tone, therefore they’re the best. Kathleen doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance against all 3 of the other Rouge voice actresses. Your bias shows when you implied that they’re all terrible compared to Kathleen, when it’s the opposite.
I prefer Lani Minella and Karen Strassman as Rouge and Michelle Ruff as Cream. The deep voice feels sooooo unnatural for Rouge after SA2 and Heroes. Lani actually showed emotion and I hate anyone who says that her acting was awful and she sounded annoying. As for Cream, Michelle Ruff actually makes Cream sound like a real kid. Though Sarah Wulfeck also sounds cute as Cream.
Rebecca Honig is a discount Sarah Wulfeck lol, even though Michelle Ruff was an upgraded version of Sarah. And for Rouge…as much as I want to call Kathleen Delaney a 75% discount Karen Strassman or Lani Minella, I just…can’t. With other voice actors for other characters, like James Carter Cathcart as Vector being a discount Keith Silverstein, the weaker actor has to sound like what the better actor leaves off. With Rouge, it’s different. Kathleen doesn’t sound anything like how Rouge should sound, nor does she try sounding like Rouge. All she’s done is to try sounding as seductive as possible, which restricts her from showing any emotion or likability as Rouge. Her delivery outside of Shadow The Hedgehog is just god awful, and her 06 performances is definitely her worst. She honestly sounds so unfaithful to the role and doesn’t sound like she took it seriously at all, whereas with Lani, Karen, and Kazumi from Sonic Prime, they sounded like they weren’t playing around. Why do people like her so much???
@@rainbowtoyfunrandomess1982why though? Kathleen Delaney’s voice was just so bland, dull, and monotone as well as unsettling. Listen to her screams in cutscenes of Sonic 06. She sounds like she’s not even trying. At least Lani Minella and Karen Strassman put some spunk into it.

Lani minella captures rouge voice so perfect ever since SA2. Karen was decent at best until Kazumi Evans was my favorite rouge in prime
Well I still enjoy Kathleen Delaney as Rouge. It sounded like she's really enjoying her role.
@@TheTrollingPokémon247 Maybe, but I love how she made Rouge of how she's supposed to be: Flirty, manipulative, the way she teased Knuckles is funny especially in Sonic X, and of course she can still have nice moments too.
