XG isn’t a K-POP group. They’re just pretending to be one by using the financial power of Japan’s biggest entertainment company, Avex, to appear on Korean shows and K-POP concerts. A lot of Koreans feel negatively about XG because they haven’t released a single Korean album and seem to be using Korea and K-POP just as a way to go global. However, many K-POP cover dance teams from other countries either don’t know this or choose to ignore it, mixing XG into K-POP content. Even though Korean media reported that “XG is being criticized as a Japanese group with anti-Korean sentiment,” some people still think it’s a good idea to blend them into K-POP content and culture. But this is clearly cultural invasion and theft. While unity for the future is important, if there’s no effort to admit mistakes and correct them, it’s fake, and the other side might see it as another form of violence. Please discuss this issue and guide it in a better direction so it doesn’t escalate further.
I don't see the issue with it as XG correlates with K-pop alot. Most people who hear it automatically think it's K-pop. Which is totally okay. They corrected the title which is awesome but comments like this come off very negative when it was just an understandable mistake. Instead just be friendly and explain it's not K-pop. Either way it definitely fits within K-pop public dance covers, alongside J-pop and C-Pop etc. So it's not the end of the world.
