  • Finally I got gas installed to my house. They start from the street then go to the house. At first I thought it was going in front of the chimney, then I asked if can go in the back. Which they did.

    Thank for this. I worked with BGE for 45 years but things have changed so much. The directional line installation is so cool. I am having this done soon in Elkton, MD. Converting a 33 year old heat pump to a natural gas furnace.

    The Tee on the main and the coupling on the service line aren’t crimped. They are electrofused. Aka melted together

      For my natural gas company it depends how many devices you’re going to connect. For example if you install a stove, water heater and clothes dryer for me it’s only like $300. However if we placed the meter closer to the street then we probably wouldn’t have had to pay anything. I think they estimate how much money they’d make off you in 6 years, and that would be the maximum amount they’d spend on installation. You would have to pay the rest.

  • @jamesbennett4059
    @jamesbennett4059 6 лет назад

    And why did they put a curb valve when the meter is outside

    • @pulaskils1
      @pulaskils1 5 лет назад +2

      Depends on their standards. My companies O&M plan now says every newly installed or replaced service SHALL have either an excess flow valve or a curb valve.

    • @jamesbennett4059
      @jamesbennett4059 5 лет назад +1

      I get the excess flow valve we put them on all new services as well but u shouldnt need a curb valve when u have the lockwing valve on the riser I know standards are different in places just seems like excess shit

    • @pulaskils1
      @pulaskils1 5 лет назад +1

      Agreed. We only do curb valves when the load exceeds the capacity of our excess flow valves on 1" services. We have to put curb valves on all schools, hospitals, and churches regardless. You're right though, having both as they do here on a residential service is excessive.

      @@Moondoggy1941 you cannot control the hog, so we never would shoot it towards the main. We actually do not use the hog anymore anyway

    • @robertgorski9048
      @robertgorski9048 11 месяцев назад

      They didnt shoot it towards the main. They shot it to the curb hole. And they take a measurement and the hogs air hose so they know exactly where the hog is at all times unless it dives. Shooting it towards the house is not wise. If they by some crazy incident shoot and hit the main they are the gas company, they will fix the main. What they cant do is fix the houses foundation.

      Its a temporary repair to allow for ground settling over a 90 day period. A contractor will follow behind and make the final restoration with proper asphalt. It would be unwise to pour hot stuff and have it sink and then have to break and repair it twice. This was an an a+ job and no fr clothing is required because at no point were they working on uncontrolled gas.

  • @dylanmcdevitt235
    @dylanmcdevitt235 Год назад

    Terrible job with the Prefab set! The Regulator should never be up against the house ! After looking at it they could have swung it out and kept it lined up with the Riser! And where the hell is the plug for the end of the union on the outlet side of the prefab??? Should always have it plugged until it's ready to be piped into the house! Otherwise everything else was done nicely! And to have your grass put back nicely especially after having a Valve cut in, They did a fantastic job with the landscape portion. I'll give them that!

    • @xjoe81x

      They are probably landscapers doing gas work.

    • @bennyboom63
      @bennyboom63 Год назад +1

      You shouldn't comment on a trade you know nothing about. Regulator always goes to the back which is code. The plug goes in the actual threaded 1" hole and plugs the meter bar. The union has no gas going through it until the meter is hung. Each one of these men is qualified through the federal government and tested annually. So unless landscapers spend yrs in school to become gas journeyman I would say your wrong. How about offering the men a drink and saying thank you for a job well done.
