I watched this scene when it came out and I was still pretty young and dumb. But even then I could see there was something magnificent and touching about it. Now I would notice that the amazing ending of the scene came in the aftermath of Rab praising God for His "interior design" skills, and being disappointed at having his divine moment of reverie disturbed by some English got-rich-quick yobbo types. There's real pathos here. But also something uplifting as Rab cries out about "Hands across the Sea".
Rab C an absolute LEGEND! I showed this to my , fluent in English, French girlfriend and she looks from the screen to me totally puzzled whilst I pss myself laughing!
Myself and some mates once met a real-life Rab in Cardiff and yes, he was Scottish and hilarious! The following month I saw Gregor Fischer at Dublin airport! Life can be strange, lol!

Then he says "I see", and we hear the reference to "bandi" and then he shouts out about Rab being his friend, and ends with Adios, which is said in the south of Spain without us hearing the "s" at the end.
