THANK YOU HAGAN!!! That image of the body being dipped into molten gold has stuck w me since I saw it when I was 5 years old,and I couldn't remember what movie it came from. But the image was so strong that I've never forgotten it. Now I know it came from this movie:) Thank you!
Skallagrim, Metatron and Matt Easton from Scholagladiatoria would have field day with the armored shirt and giant axe in this film. In fact I recommended they take a look at the armor. Well not to Skall because he has just been in an accident and I don't want to bother him with such things until he has recovered.
One of the things I find questionable that kind of has nothing to do with anything is that apparently Elvira asked Richard Chamberlain to be the villain in her second movie but had to pull out and be replaced by who we actually got for that film, Richard O'Brien. Considering what the role was like - Chamberlain's decision to drop out almost saved the film. I say almost because Elvira's Haunted Hills, even with O'Brien's mugging is still a shit film.
+blackmumba111 I see why. Of all the "spoof movies" that were released in the last 16 years (which, in my own category includes things like Kung Fury and Tucker And Dale vs Evil) - its still in my top 5 of the genre. Even then, I fucking love the concept and the actors are all really good and O'Brien just makes the film but...I still didn't like it. When I said it was a "shit film", I probably meant something more along the lines of "its less crap borderline 'okay'"
One thing you forgot to mention HAGAN!, the main antagonist cheated death and fled the lost city of gold to become one of the presidents somewhere in Africa someday.... well though in the end he didn't end well.... to be killed by the subject. Hint : Tripoli.
Actually Phoenicians being Semitic do count as Caucasian and Egyptians do too! "White" like "Black" is BS as no-one on Earth is EITHER COLOUR! Even the darkest of Sudanese and the lightest of Swedes are NEITHER Black or White!
Crowvamp1979 Im going to try and find somewhere to stick the blocked reviews elsewhere and put the link in the description. Nothing arranged yet though.
@Stairway Unicorn No,"League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" was very loosely based on a DC/Vertigo graphic novel which was in turn very loosely based on a number of classic horror, science fiction, detective and adventure novels. Also, the graphic novel version of Quartermain was not as sympathetic as his Film Counterpart.
Appolyon Nina galas, her mirror universe doppelganger that she promised to rescue. Ya know, the one from the review of Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist, and who reviewed the other Alan quatermain film right before this one?
bad review, if you know anything. You know that old movies where creating in a different time and society. Back then, it where good movies. It's like compare Sinbad movie with Jack Sparrow movies. It's all about expectations and changes that you grow up with. Back than, people where entertainment with games from the 80's or 90's. Now people are get used about the fact that games mostly need to be 3d or have a lot of photo realistic colors. Maybe there where some unintentional racist manifestation, but it's clearly that the new generation using a lot of bad words. Like you did in the review, does that make you an better person than people back then? It's easy to judge people in the past that there are racist, but I think you should really know them first before to make that conclusions.
Your English reminds me of the commenter represented by a cat typing on the Mistress's laptop keyboard...and yeah, hindsight is 20/20, but calling it out helps people to not repeat history's mistakes.
This movie was made in 1987... And even by 1987 standards, would be considered racist, because unlike the first one, the caricatures of African tribes wasn't a tongue-in-cheek parody of how they were portrayed in the 1950s Quatermain movies, which was racist when it backfired, but was never intentionally so. This movie forgot that, and played it straight, meaning that even after you got to know Umslopogaas, he was still a caricature, just a toned down one, because he was on Quartermaine's side. The black people who weren't, however, were bending over backwards to be almost defined by the racist exposition of their tribe, or happy house boys, in the case of the kids at the beginning. Your argument would apply to the Nina Gala review of the first one, if she didn't acknowledge this as their intention, and at points in this review, acknowledge that the racism in the first one were backfires. Oh, wait- She did that, on both counts, so you suck twice. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Have you been to Africa and seen some of the more rural tribes these may be over blown and over the top but it’s not by fucking much. Yes most Africans especially in western and Northern Africa are normal and much more similar to Americans in terms of dress and manors but there are some groups who we could call eccentric(just like here) i mean for fuck shakes some of them mutilat there bodies in ways that would make fetishists blush.

Are you going to make a review of "Elvira - Mistress of the Dark"?
the decision to cast james earl jones as umslopogaas was brilliant.
Perhaps Linkara can help with that universe problem you have
He's coming for you Quartermain, as fast as his stumps can carry him"
that is funny
We all wait with eager anticipation for the moment the Mistress rescues poor Nina Galas from her white faced Tormentors.
"...the mongol horde that took a wrong turn in Bucharest" - I'm from Bucharest. There are no right turns there; only wrong ones. So it makes sense.
It is so oddly endearing to see Diamanda dedicated to saving herself
Love the Brian May joke lol

Best part of this movie are the golden human statues being dipped in Gold 😂

They're working on it, sorry its got the only copy of the review online :(
l love richard💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝
Man, it's some kinda movie where it just kills a redshirt off screen.
No way. This was is the Bomb, as in awesome!
One thing you forgot to mention HAGAN!, the main antagonist cheated death and fled the lost city of gold to become one of the presidents somewhere in Africa someday.... well though in the end he didn't end well.... to be killed by the subject.
Hint : Tripoli.
Too bad the King Solomon's Mines review isn't on RUclips anymore, and Hagantube is gone.
Very :(
@@DiamandaHagan I'm surprised you didn't comment on James Earl Jones' axe making lightsaber sounds when he swung it around.
Very good!
23:42 the magic begins.
Allan Quartermain isn't in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in this movie, I'm greatly saddened by this.
5:10 That is an oxymoron if I’ve ever seen one.
+DiamandaHagan Amazing review as always Mistress.
Hail Hagan.
"Phoenician and Egyptian, truly two of the whitest races known to man!"
You know who Sean Connery played in Highlander, yes?
Yesh!
Actually Phoenicians being Semitic do count as Caucasian and Egyptians do too!
"White" like "Black" is BS as no-one on Earth is EITHER COLOUR!
Even the darkest of Sudanese and the lightest of Swedes are NEITHER Black or White!
less then 24 hours and they blocked "King Solomons Mines" already.......boooooo to youtube! :(
Crowvamp1979 Im going to try and find somewhere to stick the blocked reviews elsewhere and put the link in the description. Nothing arranged yet though.
:) good idea! I will keep checking back. I really enjoy your videos, I was so sad when I found out they are pulling the plug on Blip.
Crowvamp1979 Keep an eye on Diamandahagan.wordpress.com (I'll link wherever the ep ends up there).
Yes Mistress! :)
8:10 has anyone made a Mithril reference yet?
+shulamithbond Nah but I think there's one in the other Quaterain review.
+DiamandaHagan Good to know, mistress
Allen Quartermain was in Extraordinary Gentlemen... so wouldn't that be the third movie?
@Stairway Unicorn No,"League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" was very loosely based on a DC/Vertigo graphic novel which was in turn very loosely based on a number of classic horror, science fiction, detective and adventure novels. Also, the graphic novel version of Quartermain was not as sympathetic as his Film Counterpart.
Not played by Richard Chamberlain, so... No.
Mistress... i hope you didn't forget about poor Nina.
Bobby Torres Who?
Appolyon Nina galas, her mirror universe doppelganger that she promised to rescue. Ya know, the one from the review of Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist, and who reviewed the other Alan quatermain film right before this one?
Bobby Torres thank you.
I can't stand Sharon stones acting.
She was one of those who did really good roles and really bad roles. She won a Golden Globe for Casino but also won a Razzie for Basic Instinct 2.
