      Hey Luka. Matthew dis mention Posavje but he didn’t brake it down to sub regions. A lot is happening there in the last couple of years and the quality is rising really fast! It is definitely a place that needs to be mentioned more but with crazy numbers of winemakers and brands it’s very hard to mention everyone :)

      Many thanks, this makes me happy. I did mention all three of those wineries in the video :)

    Dr.! Your wife speaks with a Singapore accent. I think. Love your take on Brda. It is my favorite spot on the planet. I was beyond fortunate to do some barrel tasting at Klinec winery several years ago. Sadly, they closed their kitchen, but the wines continue to be amazing. Lovely family, as you know. BTW ... next time you go to Brda, do yourself a favor and stay with "the lavender sisters." That is the "special name" we gave them. Just look up "Farm Tourism Breg." Of course they have their own house wine, with grapes from the hill near their farm. A buddy of theirs in Italy takes care of the fermentation and bottling. They started to meld their lavender with different products, years ago and the results are lovely. Anyhooo ... the two sisters who run the place represent everything that is beautiful about Slovenia. Go see them. And thank you for the lovely review on Slovenian wines. I have three cases of Simic wine at home. The "Giacato," as you know, is exceedingly reasonable and a good representation of of a white wine from the region. Yes, it is a coop wine, but you can't beat the price. Best of luck to you in your wine endeavors. D

    Actually, Carso is just italian for Kras, which is tke base for Karst and all expressions connected with such terrain all over the globe. Carso, the region of Kras in Italy is also populated with Slovene nationals, not be able to join the rest of Primorska region after 25 years of italian occupation of Primorska (1918-1943). We, the ethnic Slovenes of Primorska, consider Primorska region to extend way over italian border until the Slovenian ethnic border as it was under Austro-Hungarian rule.

    I love Slovenian wine! Thanks for the video. When I was in Ljubljana, I went to this wine bar. I think it was named Movina or Pops pizza and sport. They served Merlot (Lisjak/Vipavska Dolina) Pritlicje. Do you know what they are and where I could possibly buy them? It is difficult to break it down.

    • @drmatthewhorkey

    Matthew, you have missed the most important winery in Slovenia, MANSUS. He has an almost extinct variety called Klarnica and makes unbelievable orange wines

    • @drmatthewhorkey

      Thanks Milan but I obv can’t include every winery in a 15 min video :p

    • @ceticmilan
      @ceticmilan 2 года назад +1

      @@drmatthewhorkey Sorry, you're right. I just hope you had the chance to taste Klarnica. It was actually extinct but owner of Mansus got the seeds from the gene bank and built the vineyard from that. It is very interesting white wine and he's making some amazing wines from it. If you didn't have the chance to taste it, don't miss it next time you visit Slovenia. And this is not the advertising, I just love his wines.
