When I was following the instructions for my Chia pet, I could not get the seeds to stay on it. Half of them kept sliding off. I measured out everything assuming it would be exactly the correct consistency. I discovered that I was wrong once I watched this video. From seeing the consistency it's supposed to be I was able to add seeds to correct it and had absolutely zero problems with my Chia pet.
Yeah it really annoys me that even the actual instructions are wrong. 2 tsp and ¼ cup of water is still gonna make a slidey consistency. I’d say 2 ½ or 3 tsp is more like it.
Finally... a good video on the demonstration of making my chia pet grow. Yay!

My parents bought me two of them for Christmas, one yoda and the other one is a bunny. I kept procrastinating on doing it and after two months, I finally decided to do it. I read the instructions and how I excepted, I didn't understand. Anyways thanks for your more specific instructions and little videos that follow along. Now it's time to do it, wish me luck!!
How did it go
Most of these newer chia pets coming out are more designed to be aesthetically pleasing as a statue rather than be functional as an actual chia-pet. For example, I got the Chewbacca pet and none of the groves and lines are pronounced enough to hold the chia seeds. Might as well throw out the directions and make a butter thick paste because the seeds slide down when directions are followed according the company pamphlet.
Chia pets are good because they give you something to worry about of no consequence.

We just regrew the chia pets I've collected since I was a kid and decorated the house for our holiday party. They turned out great! You can see our process and the finished centerpieces over on my channel!

im wondering... the parts that dont have the plant growth can it be painted like with an outdoor weather proof paint?
You could try but the water will probably ruin any paint you put on I'd say if you had a kiln you could Glaze paint it then it'll be fine similar to the cat chia with a black head
Even after adding some seeds and waiting ten more minutes it didnt help. I found out if you dump a little on a paper towel and scrape them around with a butter knife it makes it so itll stick better
I recently started my first chia pet, and every day my drip tray is filled to the brim with water, is it suposed to leak that much? What do I do to fix it if not?

I didn't do the mixture thats cap make the chia pet wet and make sure it is when adding seeds and it will stick
2 tsp of seeds and 1/4 cup of water is not correct at all

TerminallyPerky I think they mean minutes. It's not 30 minutes non-stop. It's letting it sit for 30mins but you stir it *occasionally* as they said
Cicura001 maybe you're right. I just did my Princess Poppy Troll one a few weeks ago and it was goopy and that consistency in seconds. Also, my mom saw the little "tip" on the card and placed a plastic bag over it for a day or two- and it sprouted like crazy. I always thought these were silly and then I got one and I was stupid happy to check it every day like a kid 😂🌟

Cicura001 omg you're gonna be shocked! Its like "WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE!!!?" I used all the seeds and just eyeballed it. Haha. This guy is very thorough. My troll was like WHOA in a week. Haha! Put a gallon zip lock to hover over it. It has a greenhouse-like effect. Ive been watxhing these since I was a kid and now .... I cant wait to find more seeds. It died kinda fast after I took the bag off and it wasn't as moist.
What iam honestly most curious about tho is what to do with the leftover seeds. There is ALOT left. It feels like such a waste to throw them out.... If I had known how much I'd use, I don't think I would've used 2 teaspoons.
they say add a quarter cup of water, but if you breathe on them for 10 seconds, the condensation from your breath should make them have the consistency of a mixture as if you left them out in a rainstorm for three days. Seriously, these shits slide off so easily.

You can re-grow the chia pet again if the previous growth looked uneven or if the previous growth just looks bad.
