I was there for this. We (Soul Children of Chicago) sung right before they did. He died the following week. We were crushed 💔 But they gave an excellent performance ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was in the audience. You all sang He Died For Me. I think the Rutledge Sisters were there. I had no idea who Thomas Whitfield was. I left after you all sang. As an adult, I now see how great Thomas Whitfield is
I shall never forget being in attendance at Gospel Fest 1992. What an amazing year! I feel truly honored to have witnessed this final live offering of the Maestro and his Company. How Awesome!❤️😍
God morning, I was there at this concert, it was the first time I saw Thomas Whitfield in person, before he left this plane of existence. Marvelous he was and the true Maestro.

I was there and it was Awesome and after the song Oh Hallelujah I immediately fell in love with Thomas Whitfield and His Amazing Choir.
Omg!!!! I can truly feel the spirit of Min Thomas Whitfield thru this Video ... I like the fact that he must knew he had a certain amount of time because he didn't do alot of talking between songs....just minister song after song is crazy!! I love it...oh how I love Jesus is the best arrangement I've ever in my life!!! The fact that he took it and made it into a choir version is unbelievable...thank you so h for posting this! I only pray that millions of ppl will be able to listen to this video and feel the anointing and spirit just like I have!!
...and I remember my brother (an organist) calling me to tell me--in tears--about his passing. That's the music that would be blaring from his van during the week.
OMG😳!..Listening to this recording is like finding a long lost extremely PRICELESS treasure!..Great thanks to Marcel for posting/sharing with the Thomas A. Whitfield & WC fan club worldwide😀👍!..Is there a video of this concert? This is what gospel music is SUPPOSE to sound like!!..
What a gift Minister Whitfield was to the Body of Christ. Grateful he had the courage to release his music. It still blesses us so many years after he took his rest
OMG! I had this on VHS. They used to show the Chicago gospel fest on an auxiliary cable channel back then. I had this & John P Kee recorded. I wore those tapes out! I remember this like it was yesterday, thanks for posting.

Brian you are absolutely correct i was living in Chicago at that time cause it was where I was born and raised and you are correct after that Grant Park concert we received word Thomas Whitfield had passed away and I was totally devastated.
I always fast track to Oh Hallelujah, Just A Look, and Oh, How I Love Jesus. I love how his band slipped in a little Bobby Brown at the end of Oh, How I Love Jesus as the choir is transitioning off the stage. I really wish I could’ve seen him live! Rest in Power, Maestro!
@@Marcell77 have you heard anything about Wendy Davis I used to sing with her way back in the early 80s late 70s with Donald Vails and the Voices of Deliverance

DONALDSON COMMUNICATIONS oh really
Imagine how everyone felt after he died and they reminisced about this. Bittersweet.
Wow. I can clearly hear how much he influenced Fred Hammond. My mind immediately went to FH during that first song.
Beautiful! He is truly missed. Marcel, is there also a video of this concert?
That's what I'm wondering too 🤔
Tommy!!!
Great find!!!! Are there other songs!
Sing Company!!!
Who leads the song PRAISE THE LORD? (The female)
Wendy Davis
Thanks, I've always wanted to know who she was. Do you know whether she still sings? I can't find any other videos of her.
Sadly no. Wendy has been ill since the late 1990s.
Happy Agnostic-Theist Wendy
