Thanks Nora! It’s a little bulky for the chest harness but I just got a Røde Wireless GO to play with, having fun testing everything out 😁 haha maybe they did! 😂
Super awesome day at the beach, congratulations on the silver, the mic is just great, but I don't like that it is in your way to get the job done, that's just not fair at all. The intro was just fine inside the car no problem with that at all. You have come a long way in a short amount of time Mish, it is great to watch the progress of this channel !
Thanks Steve, this week has been an absolute blur in particular, I can barely keep up! I’ve just received a wireless microphone system that I’ll be testing in some future hunts, should solve that visibility issue. Cheers 😁
Crocs are definitely on my shortlist, they actually have some nicer looking ones now with good arch support. Thanks Julio! PS. Glad you don't pair them with socks lol
Great finds on silver. I myself have not noticed anything wrong with your videos..The elements are the elements . take the good with the bad and the ugly.. Enjoyed the video..Happy Hunting and may more SILVER end up in the scoop..
Mish - There is a detectorist in Florida who goes by the name 'She detector'. She wears Aleader Shoes for hunting. They are self draining, so sand does not stay ing them, and you can wear them in the water. They have a hard (tennis shoe) sole, and she says they are the most comfortable beach/boat shoes she has ever used.
Well done Mish, your tiny hands made that Shilling look like a florin lol, those 50% silver shillings sound and read just like a bottle cap, very risky digging in a public park lol.. you mentioned what shoes are great for beach walking and digging, K Mart sand shoes are awesome, They look a little like ninja shoes Get them and you will be unstoppable 🤠👍
Thank you Susan! I recently decided on some replacement footwear, they are podiatrist-designed flip flops with arch support (brand is ‘Archies’) and will likely appear in future videos. I wear my dive boots when I need full coverage though. Cheers! 😊
You didn't score a Flossie but you can't complain about the finds you found, love the oldies awesome result. Going house hunting now and then hitting the water this arvo. Keep that lead Mish, I am Doing a vid of me scrapping all of my lead, cashing in a bit of coin and cans for cash then hitting the city to buy my very first 10oz silver bar. So hang onto that lead and buy some silver 😁👍💰 Awesome vid and you don't have old lady eyes at all, still young, I am 57 and the lads in the workshop thought I was still in my 40's 😂 keep digging and stay young. Anyway enough of my troubles Be safe and Happy Hunting Cheers Brad
Love your videos and congratulations on all your silver coins. In the great state of Texas (USA), we use the inexpensive beach sand shoes that have the rubber sole and mesh tops from Walmart. They work for the most part but, because of the mesh top you will get sand and small rocks or broken bits of seashells into your shoes. That is why I use dive boots all year long.😀
Hey there Mariner and thanks for the comment and your advice! Some time after filming this, I went and purchased some ergonomic flip-flops (we call them thongs here, but I know that gets a little lost-in-translation in the US LOL) that have integrated arch support. Now that it is mid-winter here, like yourself I am pretty much living in my dive boots. Happy hunting to you! :)
on your question what to wear on the beach plastic clogs and ware socks very comfortable and very handy to go into the water they are dry for your next hunt instantly only have to dry your socks lol
Thanks Willem! Crocs have some nice sandal-like variants now (same material) that mean I might even be able to skip the socks. I've been checking them out :) Cheers!
Love your content mish. Lots of good info too. Do I remember right...you’re in Queensland? My husband was inspired to dig out his metal detector and get back at it. Looking forward to seeing more. So glad I met you on Dan’s live the other evening. Really enjoying your videos.
Hi there DJ and a pleasure to meet you in Dan’s chat - I absolutely love what he’s planning with those car recoveries, and he’s a top bloke too. I’m a Victorian, so currently in lockdown but hoping to be out again soon. Glad to hear your husband is dusting off the detector - such a brilliant hobby. Cheers! 😊
Love your videos. I really like to visit Australia one of these days. I am going to metal detect on the beach for the first time on vacation at Daytona Beach. Really looking forward to it. My wife said your not taking your metal detector on vacation are your and I said YELP!! LOL. Keep the videos coming. Thanks
Thanks for the lovely comment, Clyde - wishing you the best of luck on Daytona Beach, I hope you find some goodies! Your wife and my husband sound very similar, ha ha. Cheers!
Hi Mish ... just wanted to let you know how grateful I am to have access to your metal detecting videos. They are enjoyable to watch and you give good explanations regarding coinage you find. Regarding being old, you are young. I just turned 74 and just getting started in metal detecting. (I have waited a long time to even begin d/t some physical limitations, which have been resolved.) Could you do a video showing what is best to have on your person while beach metal decting and also park/land searches. After watching so many different detectorists - male, I would be interested in knowing what you and other women detectorists find necessary to have with them while out detecting. Fortunately, I am not a small or fragile but don't choose to load myself down unnecessarily and want to be and feel organized. Obviously, the winter months would mean wearing suitable warm clothing. Since I reside in Tacoma, WA, I know about warm clothing and footwear. This request may sound ridiculous to others, but I have had both knees replaced and rods in my lower back. Because of their resolutions, I am now able to begin detecting. Anything input/insight you may offer will be appreciated. .....Patti Vosburgh 😊
Hello Patti and thanks so much for your wonderful message! I am so pleased that you are getting into the hobby, it is so good for the mental health and simply encouraging us to get out and appreciate the great outdoors. I do joke about being "old" but rest assured I consider it a relative term and am simply comparing my current state to that of my younger years. 😉 I am planning to make a video on the gear I use in the coming weeks as it is a very popular request - I just have to sit still for long enough to create it. 😂 When I do, I will be separating it into what I use for beach vs. land. Thanks for letting me know that it is something you would find useful! Happy hunting to you. 😄
Audio was good with the new mic. I use a foam wind cover on my gopro when mountain biking and it works a treat. Keep up the great videos and happy digging
Thanks mate! I've got a wireless mic setup now that I'll be testing soon, so I'll likely keep the big fuzzy mic for the vlogging style videos. Appreciate the feedback/suggestion :)
Crocs are on the shortlist! The wedding band teaser video should be on my channel under ‘uploads’ or ‘short videos’ (if looking on mobile), if that’s the one you’re referring to. Thanks Thomas 😊
Brrrr! I don’t miss winter, that’s for sure. Thanks Zed, always happy to provide VDIs as many have told me that they like to learn them from videos. The ‘nox is a great machine, happy hunting!
Sound is great with that microphone! I live in a bit colder climate, when beach detecting I wear semi worn out running shoes. Shoes that are in the end of their life span. Sandals might be good, we like to see your cute toes. Good silver finds on this one!
That’s what I used to do (the worn out shoes), but I’ve worn out too many that way 😂 so I’d better invest in something more sturdy. I wear my dive boots on the colder days. Thankyou! 😁
Well done you on the silver. Glad you found more predecimals than up here. V wanted me to comment on the rubbing. It’s like music to a detectorist ears. Not so for her. Good hunt. Dad
Thanks Dad (🤣), please let V know that I am actively working on reducing that habit when on camera - rubbing on a pant leg instead if I have to so that you can't hear the scritching. Might be in a few more videos though 😉
I always just either go bare foot on the beach or if it's a bit more Rocky then I take gum boots. Gum boots are great for our in the scrub as well cause you don't have to worry about snakes as much either. They're more comfortable than I would've thought as well.
Thanks Tim, I would never go barefoot on these beaches, while we don’t have a needle problem where I am there’s fish hooks and shredded canslaw everywhere. I use hiking boots with some newly purchased snake gaiters in the scrub nowadays. 😊
Great video thanks. Its the first one of your videos I've seen but will definitely be check out some more! My wife has a pair of Chaco sandals she's had for 20+ years and loves them. A bit more pricey but very comfortable and durable. Cheers new sub here 👍🏼
Thanks so much, Clive! We call 'em 'gumboots' out this way but most Aussies will still understand what wellies are. Not so great for me as I inevitably wade through the water in my travels - they'd get pretty heavy with all that water in them. 😂
I wear either a pair of Crocs or five boots. It’s good to have a sturdy bottom of the dive boots or shoes. Helps with scooping and filling the holes. Hope this helps.
Cheers! I think I'll be going with Crocs as some of them have decent arch support, I use dive boots in the colder months and for the dedicated water hunts but they're just a bit heavy for summer. Happy hunting :)
We call them water shoes. They are mesh with a rubber sole. They drain and protect your feet. We wear them while doing "the stingray shuffle" at our beaches in florida.
The stingray shuffle, love it! 😆 Thanks for the tip. I ended up purchasing some flip-flops that have built-in arch support for those hot days where I don't want to wear my full dive boots, and they've been doing a great job. Cheers!
Mish my Dear. Great video as always. My only suggestion is make sure to use proper sunscreen. I can tell you first hand that a surgeons knife cuts deep to remove sun damage. Thank you and keep the videos coming.
Hi Mish, love your videos as you represent what you do with much charm and enthusiasm. After watching many metal detecting videos and becoming rather interested in this hobby, I began to wonder if I should invest in a Minelab Equinox such as the one you own. However, after a fair bit of research and some careful consideration I decided to purchase a Dr. Otek MT-XR instead as they seem to be one of the better entry level detectors on the market at present. As yet I haven't tried it out but when I have given it a go I will let you know how it went. Thanks for your wonderful and informative videos and may the coffee money continue to jingle merrily in your keeper bag 😃
Hi there Mr Andy! I'm so pleased to hear that you're giving the hobby a go. As far as I'm concerned, any detector is better than no detector - the budget entry-level types are generally best suited to shallow coins (eg. parks) and dry beach sand conditions, a lot of them will sound a little noisy on the wet sand but you'll never know unless you give it a shot! Just keep listening for those signals that give a clear and consistent beep in one spot and give it a go. Test with targets if you can - pre-dig a small hole in your backyard and pop different types of coins in the hole (placing the plug of soil over the top to emulate real conditions). Happy hunting! :)
I discovered your channel yesterday and have several of your videos and was wondering something about all the coins you find. Do you keep and display them, or do you sell them to collectors? I don't know much about coins, but it seems many of the older ones or ones no longer being circulated would be worth more than face value to certain collectors. Do you have any other means of displaying them besides the quick summaries you do at the end of your videos? Thanks for listening and I'll be watching more of your vids. They are very relaxing and a great way to wind down after a day at work.
Hello and welcome to my channel, I'm glad you're enjoying my content! It is deliberately set at a slow and relaxing pace unlike many of the bigger treasure hunting channels, I like my videos to be something that people can relax to. Regarding your question, coin collecting is a big part of how I got into the hobby so I save all of the beautiful older pre-decimal coins wherever possible and keep the best of each year in an album. No proper display setup as yet - something to work on :) Cheers!
Mish I think water shoes are pretty good I wear them to the beach and for detecting on Beach's. ( Have found some nasty things in beach sands) razor blades, hypodermic needles and such. I will never walk barefooted on any beach again 😵
Yes isn’t it scary once we know what lies beneath the sand. Thankfully needles and blades are very rare here but there are hazardous items nonetheless. Thanks Robert. 😊
@@DirtFishMish yes, a cool beach ,and we have a long way to the sea on the river there is no sense to go I have passed them all for a long time good luck to you kamradka
I feel like your audio has been just fine without that big mic if it obstructs your view. That lapel mic you mention might be better. I have a feeling we all have the same inner talk, what the heck, give me a break, just one good target...nice hunt! cricket
Mish congrats on the silver. I had to laugh when you said old lady eyes. Your still a young lady no matter what the numbers say. I’m a very young 66 year old even if I am broken up some and have to move carefully. Enjoyed the video
I wouldn't be too envious at the moment - my yard is blowing away with some strong winds right now! Our hot weather (at least where I am in Australia) is departing now, which means we must be sending it your way. Cheers Jim. :)
Thanks Paul! I am using this mic more and more often now, it’s quite cumbersome when chest-mounted like this but it seems to make the world of difference. Thank you for watching! 😄
Hey Mish!, thx for uploading. I really love your videos. You’ve inspired me to get out there myself. Just wondering how you think the 15x12” coil would work on the beaches you hunt? Thx again
Hiya D B and thanks for the awesome comment, definitely get out there! I think the 15" would be great on beaches like this, except for poking around the fallen trees where a smaller coil is more advantageous. It'd definitely help with getting down to the deeper finds. I'm hoping to buy one this year :)
I'm a little late to this video, but flip flops are really bad for your feet. Shoes w/o heel straps is tough for your toes, because they are doing little micro flexion moves to keep the shoe on. Overtime this can cause hammertoes and cause our balance/gait patterns to be off(I teach this stuff weekly). Try Vivobarefoot or Vibram Fivefinger shoes. Your toes will have room to move and give you better support.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'm a little sheepish to admit that I actually (finally) made a purchase only hours before your comment - and while I stuck with the flip flop style, they are super lightweight physio-designed orthotic variants. The arch support was crucial in my decision, due to the unstable surface of dry sand. I'm keen to check out your suggestions though to see if they may be of use for land purposes :) Thank you!
Mish , your microphone sounded fine to me. What's your oldest coin , mine is an 1804 Spanish 1 real found on land no where near a beach. Are you close to the gold fields in Australia ?
Thanks for the feedback Wayne, I'm fussy on the audio as I think it can make or break a video. :) My oldest would be a mid-1800's British sixpence, young Queen Victoria on the back but it was too worn to get a year. Not near the goldfields but definitely planning some road trips in future! Happy hunting. :)
If I were going for gold I’d use the husband’s 800 (I only have the 600) for the gold mode, can’t justify a gold machine where I am so I’d just have to deal with the interference or maybe borrow a local’s machine. I went relic hunting in some old goldfields recently and you’ll see a vid of that in time 😊
Hi Mish, I’m on the other side of the world, up here in the Pacific Northwest in kayak and white water rafting country. Covid not withstanding. The most popular water sandals around here are Chacos. Check them out on Chaco.com. I bought my first pair over 25 years ago. I just received my second pair and gave the first pair to a friend because they didn’t fit anymore. Chacos are completely nonmetallic too.
Thankyou Leslie! This is the second recommendation for Chacos that I've received; I'm just trying to find a local(-ish) stockist so that I can try them on. Appreciate you taking the time to let me know! :)
Hi Jason, two appear in my videos - I mostly use the 200mm mixed hole scoop (black carbon handle), but also have the lightweight 170mm hex hole (green handle) which is great for dry sand hunts. 😁
hi mish quick question for a mate he is a metal detectorists and he has just started his RUclips channel and he is having trouble with his GoPro quick app that he uses to download it and edit his videos I was wondering what app do you use
Hey mate, I offload directly from the GoPro’s SD card to my computer to edit. I use Final Cut Pro but there are plenty of cheaper/free options out there - Davinci Resolve has a good reputation as a professional product and it is free. Hope that helps!
Hi Mish, I have found Crocks to me the best for me not pretty, not cheep but very comfortable, I purchased them 5 years ago and I wear them all day (not every day) Can send photo if only I know how to
Thanks Sandy, I was considering Crocs (the sandal varieties) in my shortlist, some have really good arch support now. I'll try a few of their styles on :) Cheers!
Very enjoyable to watch! Great intro and outro. Thanks again for finding our ring!!
Absolute pleasure! Let me know when you both buy that detector and we’ll show you how to use it. 😜😂
Very good audio with the new mic! I think those cowboys from Arizona must've went on holiday in Australia 😂

Hi Mark and thanks for the suggestion, I'll check them out! Hope I can continue to entertain you with my detecting. :)
Thank you for your sharing your hunt, your enthusiasm is infectious. P.S wellingtons are a good footwear option but only if you are in the uk 🙃
Nice one anyday you find pres on a beach is a good day. Here in Wollongong thats a rarity.
That's the one perk of living out in the country, we have less finds overall but the chance of older finds is increased. Thanks :)
I'm pretty sure I'm seeing a pattern on the silver finds👍. Nice!
hehe, I've been very fortunate lately for sure. This day was just crazy though. Thankyou! :)
Cheers!
Hi mish
Great finds keep the videos coming
Shane from cowra
Thanks Shane, will do! 😁
Mish my Dear. Great video as always. My only suggestion is make sure to use proper sunscreen. I can tell you first hand that a surgeons knife cuts deep to remove sun damage. Thank you and keep the videos coming.
You sound great, continue own mate
Sometimes those iffy signals can be amazing. I have no idea what foot wear to suggest sorry. A great day out again
All good, I've received a bunch of suggestions here and I think I'm ready to try some on. Thanks mate.
A pair of slip on diving shoes would be my pick, multi role too when you do the deeper walk arounds they'll still be fine.
Cheers Dirt 😁
Классный пляж по копать бы там
Yes, it is a lovely old beach. :)
@@DirtFishMish yes, a cool beach ,and we have a long way to the sea on the river there is no sense to go I have passed them all for a long time good luck to you kamradka
I feel like your audio has been just fine without that big mic if it obstructs your view. That lapel mic you mention might be better. I have a feeling we all have the same inner talk, what the heck, give me a break, just one good target...nice hunt! cricket
Thanks Cricket! I think I have a better solution but I just need to test it on a few hunts, we get some wild winds down here. :)
Mish congrats on the silver. I had to laugh when you said old lady eyes. Your still a young lady no matter what the numbers say. I’m a very young 66 year old even if I am broken up some and have to move carefully. Enjoyed the video
hehe, we are only as old as we feel... in my case that means every day is a different story. 😂 Thanks David.
Great hunt - check out keen footwear they have all sorts of styles - GL and HH ✌️
Ooh I’ll check them out, thankyou! 😁
You did great
Enjoy your videos and commentary .. I am a little envious of your weather, but our turn is coming soon ;)
I wouldn't be too envious at the moment - my yard is blowing away with some strong winds right now! Our hot weather (at least where I am in Australia) is departing now, which means we must be sending it your way. Cheers Jim. :)
I didnt hear the wind much at all....i wear flip flops all summer here in the UK! Look up Ella flip flops, they're sturdier 😀
I’ll add that to my shortlist, thank you Marilyn!
Crocs sandals are the way togo for the beach ;)
I almost bought some this week too... now I’m convinced! Thankyou. 😊
Audio was very clear and no wind noise
CARAGUATATUBA SP BRASIL, ASSISTINDO. Muito bom!
Thank you so much!
Great vid i always thought 50%_92.5% was 45 and prior... ? The wind was mildly annoying but made up by fantastic content as usual! 👍
My apologies, you are absolutely correct! Oops. Thanks Kris. :)
Didnt even know it was windy 🌬
Excellent, good to know it'll let me hunt on the windy days if needs be! :)
Difficult to leave when you are having such a great lucky hunt...
I was wondering about your pinpointer, what brand is it?
It’s a Nokta Makro PulseDive and yes, hard to leave for sure! I will head back in a while when the sand has had a chance to move some more. 😁
@@DirtFishMish Thank you!
Great video!! I just started hunting on my channel
Enjoyed
Thanks Tinx!
Top work my best is 3 silvers for the day
That’s pretty decent! 😄
A bit of fluff works well over the mic and nice on the silver
Thanks mate! Playing with a few options now. :)
My oldest would be a mid-1800's British sixpence, young Queen Victoria on the back but it was too worn to get a year.
Not near the goldfields but definitely planning some road trips in future! Happy hunting. :)
@@DirtFishMish Sweet , are you going to use the Nox ?
If I were going for gold I’d use the husband’s 800 (I only have the 600) for the gold mode, can’t justify a gold machine where I am so I’d just have to deal with the interference or maybe borrow a local’s machine. I went relic hunting in some old goldfields recently and you’ll see a vid of that in time 😊
@@DirtFishMish You go girl !
Hello sweetie I hope no one is even thought of this but they probably have aqua socks they have the highs in the low ones
Like 12 bel video complimenti
Grazie! :)
Hey Mish, what size Sito do you have?
@@DirtFishMish thank you so much for the help mish
Hi Mish, I have found Crocks to me the best for me not pretty, not cheep but very comfortable, I purchased them 5 years ago and I wear them all day (not every day)
Can send photo if only I know how to
Thanks Sandy, I was considering Crocs (the sandal varieties) in my shortlist, some have really good arch support now. I'll try a few of their styles on :) Cheers!
I have a photo of the shoe I was referring to..how do I get the photo to you?
Sorry I didn't see this until now, but I'm glad you got ahold of me in the meantime :) cheers Susan!
