The critiques are the best thing on the channel for me. I hold off on watching these until i can get to my computer and full screen watch to try and catch everything. Seriously the highlight of my time on your channel is watching these. me and a few of my friends have large collections and these vids have helped us develop our display spaces to look MUCH more thought-out and purposeful.
I have like twenty grand, zero focus, on sixty dollars worth of the plastic shelves from Walmart. You guys would rip me to shreds and I don't think my heart could take it. But I do love watching these critiques just to see some of the most amazing collections. Thanks for that.
Turbine027/“The Other Bobby” here 😂 I appreciate the critiques and I agree! I will say these photos are old now so there are quite a few subtle changes I’ve made with vertical space! The eventual master plan (when we replace the flooring upstairs) is to paint the walls a medium grey, properly anchor the shelves and add lighting underneath each of the white shelves… I agree that G1 and MP is my true love and that possibly scaling down the collection is the only way to truly showcase that… anyone want that back shelf of “timeline”figures? 😂 And lastly, all those vehicle modes was really the excuse I gave myself to upgrade older 3P figures without feeling guilty 🤣 but I’m trying to keep that to the Ark Crew and select movie figures now that Haslab Unicron is in the mix!

Man I love your collection. First, I wish I had the space, second I know if I were there in person I would get lost in my memories. You have everything to take me back from the beginning to the present and lastly I also love that reformatting Skywarp to Cyclonus. Awesome

Big reveal at the end!
I got some old books, with the covers falling off I really want to put in that crate. If the crate is non-negotiable, at least get a nice piece of quality material (fabric) , hang it over the top and it hides it.
Most of these collections putting mine to shame. To be fair mine is on my desk at work and it’s just a monitor stand with 5 different Stunticon sets set up on it & under it 🤣
The vanilla pose gets to go like the bucky cap molds, I understand about space but we complain about articulation...use it its fun to see when chilling on a rainy day and some hot chocolate.😊
Ive actually been wanting to do glass shelves for my black Finnby shelves that Turbine did. Even with the shadows being a pet-peeve, they look really nice. Cant wait to try this out.
I really love the glass … it’s been on pause, but I do plan to have lighting added and I think that will help with the shadows… currently the only light is in the ceiling so the shadows are really obvious
@@LouboutinReviews i actually dont mind the shadows too much, im just being picky. id take more light with shadows over a dim shelf anytime. Btw, where did you get those glass shelves if you dont mind my asking?
@@Rad_Crab the shelves I bought direct from IKEA… if I remember correctly, an extra “wood” shelf was $10 and $20 for the different widths and the glass were $15 and $30. Those prices are from several years ago, fyi… it can add up fast but I loved what it did for the look!
@@Rad_Crab I don’t see the dimensions for the thickness on IKEA’s website (and I’m not at home) … but I can confirm the short ones are $15 and the long $20… if you have the Billy Bookcase, the shelves do come with a different set of pins to install them and they (obviously) fit perfectly! I would say around 1/4 inch sounds right but I’ll look when I’m home later
Damn Tubine has one of the best collections I have ever seen, but dude needs to pose a bit. Problem with switching the shelves to wood, would be the thickness and loosing headroom.
I appreciate the shoutout!! I think the main thing causing the negative shadow effect is the fact that the only light source is from the middle of the ceiling… my eventual plan is to add lights to the shelves themselves and I’m hoping I can help correct that! The posing is a bit better since these photos are at least 2 years old by now, but I find the stoic posing almost works better with the side by side g1 display … that said, my current center display is more dynamic

@@thedistracti0n993 lighting is number one of my list of Collection Display 4.0 😂 It has improved with each apartment move and then into my home now … lighting, anchoring the shelves, an accent color for the walls and some thoughtful pruning… I also want to rethink the middle area

First off, I agree with a lot of the 4 dummies coments regarding collection display. I know its, "check your feelings at the door". But, sometimes yall are a bit TOO elitist. A collection DOESN"T have to be just G1 next to G1 or MP all next to MP It can be laid out howerver makes sense to the collector. You can put McDonalds happy meal toys in there if you want. It doesn't even have to be displayed well if that is your collection. And sometimes people have to work with the space and furnature they got. A collection doesn't have to have hand made dioramas and everything in action pose if that is not what they want. Not everyone has a 30'x 30 finished and carpeted basement that they can fill with Moducases and still have room for 50 people for skullfest. Yall put too much empphisis on your own values and don't critique based on what is there. That is NOT a critique and has no real value.

My collection is piled onto shelves 3 deep, nuts to butts. It's an onslaught. I love it and will never change.

I think a pale gray to kind of match the shadow tone as a background color is the best for that last collection... which was phenomenal!

I'm starting my collection and displays over again. I won't definitely fly you to the Outerbanks to assist me. When my flooring season slows down.
