Very cool Les Paul re-run, I'm glad it looks exactly like my Cherry Burst LP🤭. But seriously, there's an awesome Gibson Les Paul model that we consider to be the very best in terms of playability and uniqueness, and so many Gibson fans are clamoring for a re-run but for some reason Gibson just turned the blind eye and just ignore all of that for years. It's non other than the very enigmatic *Gibson Les Paul Buckethead* 2010 signature - the specs are wild: - 24 Jumbo Frets - 27 inch scale (24th fret is feels like 8th fret) - Chambered oversized body (bigger than Standards but lighter) - 2 Kill switch button - Super High output pickups - pristine gloss Alpine White finish - no fret markers - dark Ebony fretboard - Grover tuners P.S - I hope Casino Guitars could relay that to an "insider" Gibson representative if they know any, there are a few people who are willing to shell out $10,000 just to have that model. (there's only 1 on Reverb, and it's being sold at $12,000 used with few scratches and dings😅.) This is an open letter to Gibson to please do a re-run, re-issue of that amazing guitar. Cheers!👌
I got a blueberry burst one last week and it’s absolutely amazing! The fit and finish is perfect. Setup was spot on. It plays great and sounds great. The bound fretboard with fret nibs is very nice. In the economy of today’s market, I think it’s a very good deal. Everything has gone up a lot in the last few years and I won’t get into the reason but it’s quite obvious to those who will hear some truth. Lamenting about buying a Studio in 1990 for $700 and now they’re $1600, is no different than saying you bought a new car in 1990 for $18,000 and now they are over $30,000. Or a Taco Bell burrito for $.69 years ago that is now $1.99, or a house that was $79k is now $150k. I could go on, but I think you get the point. Most people who whine about Gibsons being overpriced are mostly people who can’t afford one and tell themselves they’re overpriced so they can feel better about not buying one. But it doesn’t mean they are actually overpriced. They will sell very well. For those who don’t want to or can’t afford to buy a new one, there are plenty of other affordable options out there. It’s a great time for guitar players!
Les Paul Studio is my favorite model, and I was really sad that they discontinued the gloss version early this year. Glad to see it back and glad the price is reasonable.
Studios are awesome! I’ve got a faded mahogany top, ebony w/gold hardware and yellow over coat, pro black cherry magic with burstbuckers, and a flame top burst. They can’t be beat in my eyes. These new ones look the stuff!
The truss rod cover on that SG is bugging me, lol. The 2018 Les Paul Studio had neck binding, gloss nitro finish, and Classic '57 pups. I have a 2018 Studio Elite w/neck binding, nitro finish, Classic '57 pups, and a Bigsby B5 w/Vibramate. I got it used in 2019 for $990. I took the Bigsby off (a B5 has no business being on a carved top guitar, IMO). The BurstBucker pups on the new Studio are an upgrade in my opinion. I do like the neck binding, and agree with Baxter that Gibson ought to do "faux" binding on the body by revealing the edge of the maple cap. My PRS SE 245 has that, and it looks good.
I picked up a 2018 Gibson Les Paul Studio 3 yeaes ago from a pawn shop for half what they list for. Was basically brand new, came with everything from the factory; including an unfilled warranty card. Great guitar; plays well; sounds unbelievable.
I have a Faded Brown LP Studio from 2008. It matches up with my 000-15SM Martin. You’re right, they look rough but they’re guitars that want to play some blues. They look the part when you’re playing a dive bar.
I’ve always loved the look of the studio without the binding, that being said I just bought a 2024 60s standard and it is flawless! One of these days I’ll buy a studio I just can’t see not spending the extra $$ and upgrading to the standard
I bought a studio in 2005 that has BB pro pups and it’s fantastic! It needs a new nut and I had to replace the bridge, but not a lot of fret wear and I love playing that guitar!
I’m not sure if anyone mentioned this but Epiphone and Gibson are the only two companies licensed to manufacture and sell Les Paul model guitars. Les Pauls manufactured by either company are considered “real.”
I may be the guy you got the highly buffed Les Paul Studio from. It was white, from 2010, but had yellowed with time. I polished and then buffed it for hours trying to make it white again. It played well, but I was ready for something else, so I traded it with you for a Gretsch Jet Players Edition. (Which I really like, BTW)
My first decent new guitar was a 1993 Gibson Les Paul Studio in Black with Gold hardware. I thought I was Slash but without any talent 😂 It was so heavy and the neck felt sticky but hey I had a Gibson and I was stoked. Now I’m literally about to buy the Gibson Slash Les Paul in November burst to fulfill my dream from 30 years ago.
@ 7:38 "They really jizzed up the pickups". Just tell em' the Epi smells like Nitro, they won't know the difference, unless they do... Then there will be some uncomfortable questions to answer. Good luck with that! My 60's Studio w/ P90s is one of my favorite guitars. It's the only 7.5lb LP I've ever had. Keep up the good work!
I have a 2009 Les Paul Studio that is a solid workhorse. It’s some kind of a special run with coil taps, an ebony fretboard (not richelite) and in a glossy silverburst finish. It’s the one Les Paul that has remained in my collection. Three higher end Les Pauls have come and gone but the Studio has stuck around for some reason. It’s has a decent classic LP tone, semi lite weight, and if put a scratch or dent on it I don’t feel so bad. I will definitely check out the new line.
I had a 2015 Gibson Studio, but couldn't bond with the neck so I sold it. Last year I bought the Epiiphone Inspried by Gibson Limi8ted Edition 59 Les Paul and love it.
I agree with Shawn on the Epiphone Inspired By Gibson line, I have a Inspired by Gibson cherry 335 and other than the Alnico Classic Pro pickups which I may swap out, it is a great looking and playing guitar for the price! With these new Studios though, I have no idea why they put the push/pull knobs in them,, just do the 50s wiring because split coils sound awful!
This years model now with neck binding for an extra cost! Next time it will have full binding for even more money! I prefer the Studio without binding to be honest.
‘Budget-minded Les Paul players’ are an endangered species indeed. Although the hip, fun and funky people in the Gibson promo video seem to be loving life and totally unconcerned about the cost of the guitar or studio time.
That is a very true point! Budget minded indeed as things have risen sharply in cost over the years in terms of an old Les Paul. Thank you for sharing.
Have a couple of LP Standards. Awesome guitar. However, too heavy for me. I also have a studio from back in the day and love it better than i do the standards. Run it through my GT1000 and AC30. Great tone. Now I own the new studio 2024 (blueberry Burst). LOVE IT! Better weight and better tone.
Do these still have a PCB instead of actual wiring? If I'm spending that much on a guitar it needs to be something I can practically work on when needed.
I really liked the Tribute line that’s been discontinued. Ive always liked Studios but found them inconsistent at times. I think I’d lean SG also at that price range
I picked up over the summer a 2013 Gibson LPJ that someone had sanded the neck and added a pickguard. Its a tempting debate to wait out these. I like having something with humbuckers and the model for the price I paid was great. But these are pretty... hell finding a Gibson with a nice top, its tempting because of the artistry there. Only downside, btw, with the LPJ is the quickconnect system pickups. Kind of limits some changes.
When Epiphone first released the new '59 LP standard outfit at $799. It was actually priced too low. Had a bunch of them, and they weren't all good. But if you looked around a bit, you could find some exceptional examples. Now those are being phased out, and the Gibson headstock ones are $1299! Epiphone's SG Modern got "figured" added to the description, and went up $200. And now the Prophecy line has been jacked up $200 also, with the LP version seeing a $300 increase! It's madness! Is it worth it to spend 15 or 16 bones on an entry level Gibson anymore? For that much you can take your pick of any classic model you've ever wanted from Epiphone. Korina Explorers and V's, Sig. models out the ying yang. If your still hung up on counrty of manufacture. Or having nitro finish. There's probably not much hope for ya? I don't care much about that stuff. If it feels, plays and sounds good. I like it. Being made in the states and having a toxic clearcoat, is great. But that doesn't make it worth more to me.
I remember in college in the 90s I had never seen a les Paul in person. I was playing an epiphone sheraton2. And I thought jimmy page in his dragon pants and a low strung les Paul was the coolest. And my buddy pulled out his brand new Les Paul studio and was like I got a real Gibson les Paul and I just kept thinking, did you really? lol. It was a little less than visually impressive at the time. Although almost had a Bob Marley vibe to it
My last Studio was a mid 2000’s and it was horrible. I think they were hit or miss. I bought one for me and my best friend on the same day. He loves his. It’s amazing how much different those 2 guitars were. He still has his and I don’t.
You could probably go to the Gibson Reverb shop and buy a Standard/Traditional for the same price. Other than pickups, what really has changed? They did bound necks a few years ago, then quietly went away. They’ve always been glossy except for the bottom tier faded series. They should have at least tried the PRS thing and leave the edges of the maple cap natural to give that “faux binding” look.
LP Studios can be pretty good. Weird comparison I know and maybe I found an exceptionally good example of an LP Studio but in my experience between a 2016 LP Studio and a 1999 Fender AVRI '62 Strat, the LP Studio is just better in every way. The nitro finish is done better. You don't have to fiddle for days and completely disassemble the guitar to adjust the truss rod and bridge. There's no buzzy string tree or saddles or wherever the strat decides to buzz from on a given day. The LP sustains for as long as you'd like, as in pretty much until you mute it. For me, the 60s LP neck is outstanding. My hand cramped with the 7.25" Fender C neck. The only thing that was maybe a little better on the strat was how that contour cut sits in your lap and it's overall balance when playing while sitting.
So I feel like in the 90's they really marketed the Studio well. It was a less fancy, less flashy Gibson for the Grunge/Alt Rock look. They didn't act like it was for people that couldn't quite afford a Standard, they were more "you don't want all that fancy stuff, so we made this for you, oh and it costs less". I feel like since the early 2000's it really has been marketed as "the cheaper Les Paul" and I feel that does a disservice to the Studio legacy. The SG isn't marketed as "the Gibson you can afford". I think the Studio should get the same respect as the Juniors and the SG's. I know they started in the late 80's, but they were really popular in the 90's. I feel like the studio is the only good thing from the 90's that Gibson has kept around.
My introduction to Gibsons was The Paul - their budget model back in 1978. I've still got it and it's a great guitar. To be honest, I prefer it to the full-spec Les Pauls I've played over the years. The only thing I don't like is its clumsy name - saying "a The Paul" just sounds weird.
Honestly, how many reissues with slight upgrades will have to happen before the studio(and variants thereof) becomes a entirely new model? Keep all the current features and let's see something new from Gibson.
Not a lot of people know this. GIBSON GAVE AWAY the 59 neck carve on studios in the mid 2010s. 2016 specifically had a 59 neck carve on that price point.
My first was a GIO Ibanez, in 2015 I bought my first "real guitar" a 2014 LP Studio. 769$. 1600 is a bitter taste for neck binding. Especially because you can find classics and Traditionals (which were supposed to be the (non cambered- Standards) for that money. I doubt it's a good deal for the money, even with the updated PUs.
Literally all new guitars are just reruns. They slap a "new" color on it, put a different strap button on it, and add $800 bucks to the price. It's ridiculous.
In my experience Gibson Gtrs have Always been Hit or Miss since i was a kid_ The Main problem is that we All know jst how Good they can be when they get it Right_ its Gtr Perfection_!! But when ive unboxed Svrl that Had to go back , its so Disheartening it feels like The End of the world_!! But its Well worth it to Not lose faith & take another swing_
I hate to agree but yes...that has been the way. Here's to hoping the new batches are almost all swinging a much better average than the old days there. Tons of thanks for sharing here and have a stunning day!
😂 did they pimp out the old studios at a price hike? Or downgrade the now discontinued “traditional” (while chambering) and give us a price drop? Only Gibson knows
Because our money is worthless now. A 40k truck is 80k and a 2 bedroom apartment is $2500/mo. Value of those things didn't increase, the value of your $ decreased.
Gibson can’t make anything new without a bunch of people complaining and no matter what they do there will be people who complain about price. It’ll take a while for them to overcome QC complaints; lol people still complain about the 70s and 80s
Gibson, Fender, Harley Davidson, Gillette razors, and toothbrush manufacturers all have one thing in common......getting the most profit and mileage out of products that were designed over 50 years ago albeit with little tweaks here and there. 😅
To the naked eye yes they seem like they are reruns but this one is pretty different from previous studios. I have a 2004 and I just out a video comparing the specs.
@casinoguitars Why do people keep mentioning gloss as a new feature. The studio has always had a nitro gloss option in the past. Gibson hasn’t done anything earth shattering here. There were 2018/19 studios with neck binding too. And the old faders had a5 burst bucker pros. Gibson should stop spending the effort on reinventing a tired old line and concentrate on delivering the best QC in each guitar that they ship. Rant over.
I remember around 2002 I bought basically the nicest Epiphone and my buddy bought the cheapest Gibson, they were pretty much the same price but the quality of the Gibson was terrible... I replaced the pickups in the Epiphone and that guitar still rips. You could replace everything on that Gibson and it wouldn't make a difference cuz the guitar itself was a piece of shit. These new Gibsons look better than the cheap ones from back then, but the whole coil tapping and splitting thing... anytime someone advertises a guitar that can sound like anything, they're typically is selling a guitar that sounds like 8 different kinds dogshit. I get the appeal with undecided players, but I'd never recommend those guitars to anyone, I'd tell them to decide between humbuckers and single coils then either get a real les paul from Epiphone who made the first les paul anyway, or get a strat.
I might be the minority, but i would rather have a tricked-out Epiphone with every cosmetic upgrade in the book over the cheapest Gibson for the same price...
Agreed!, I bought a $250 Chibson and tried a $7,000 Les Paul 1959 Murphy lab. The bones/body are exactly the same, with the only edge of the "real" Gibson were the details (Headstock angle to make sure it will always go out of tune, thus providing luthiers job security, 😂ABR bridge, binding, fret nibs, Nitro paint so that I will look dragged off the road sooner than expected.😁) The rest you can modify like expensive pickups and a little pro luthier work. I just upgraded my Chib and now it plays and sound better than the overpriced Gibby. Chibson's FTW!😆
@@BlackHole-powerAmen. No way I’m spending this much for a Studio. Way too many other options that give you more guitar for less money. Like someone else said, Gibson has become Harley Davidson… a caricature of “cool”, with strong overtones of desperation.
@@GearReportFirearms Exactly!...I wonder why people are buying some very overpriced expensive guitar when there's a lot of better alternatives. I've asked them, it's because of the "prestige" of owning a guitar with an "iconic logo." So I said to myself If they are buying that for just the logo, Then I will just avail myself of something with the same logo but just one -tenth of the price. I will just upgrade it. haha. Kind of insane that changing from a plain maple cap, to a figured cap with binding around it, pretty much doubles the price.

They should have done binding on the body and none on the neck. It looks weird with just the neck having binding

I guess they gotta make a buck...thanks for the discussion.
Gibson is the Harley Davidson of guitar brands.
I'd buy it if they offered some kind of green color. Missing some marks there.
Why can I get body binding on a $200 Grote, but if I want body binding on a Gibson, it costs an extra $1200?
Honestly, how many reissues with slight upgrades will have to happen before the studio(and variants thereof) becomes a entirely new model? Keep all the current features and let's see something new from Gibson.
Not a lot of people know this. GIBSON GAVE AWAY the 59 neck carve on studios in the mid 2010s. 2016 specifically had a 59 neck carve on that price point.
It’s all right
I bought on in 2000. Awesome guitar....hated the pickups
Put a nitro finish on a $300 guitar and you've got a $1600 guitar.
These would be great with a more comfortable belly cut and reduce the weight a little.
The most ironic line from this scene relating it to gibson is... "wow you must be rich"......
2k for a studio hahahahaha
The best guitar is the one that you like to play.
The last time I bought a Studio it was 400 bucks used. Skip this and buy a Standard. Better yet get a good guitar like an ESP Eclipse.
Overpriced. It used to be a great affordable entry level les paul. Not any more
Wildwood standard is a wonderful guitar. It's baxters fault I own one..😂😂😂
Literally all new guitars are just reruns. They slap a "new" color on it, put a different strap button on it, and add $800 bucks to the price. It's ridiculous.
Burritos!
But its Well worth it to Not lose faith & take another swing_
i HEaR yOu, HIt oRMIsS!
I hate to agree but yes...that has been the way. Here's to hoping the new batches are almost all swinging a much better average than the old days there.
Tons of thanks for sharing here and have a stunning day!
Budget means $1600 on what planet?
On planet Gibson.
@@danrunnoft6642 I don’t know. $1600 for the low end model seems ridiculous. Especially with Gibson’s uneven history of quality control.
rather have a slightly used Tribute for 900.00
So I can spend $1,500 on a Gibson Les Paul Studio or I can buy an ESP EC-1000 for $1,100? I think I’ll stick with an ESP
Oooooh, Mexican sounds good…also had a cousin nicknamed Chewy (I think every Mexican family has one) 😂 PS, I’m a Mexican, I can say that
Yes you can sir...yes you can:)! Love it
Still look like an $800 guitar. Spend the extra and get a Standard
We are tending to lean that way as well. The SG offerings at GC were a cut above to us as well. Thank you for your thoughts here Alex!
Standard is almost $3,000…
@@TheDanification not used ones. I paid 1700 for mine
@@TheDanification
And a standard is worth it, over a studio. $500 more gets you a standard. $2K vs. $2.5K
Don’t buy a Gibson and get 2 great guitars or a whole rig for that price
Maybe the black one lol
First thing I see is a guy embracing an SG, last thing you see still the SG, strange.
I'd check one out, but I'm a cheap bastard.
😂 did they pimp out the old studios at a price hike? Or downgrade the now discontinued “traditional” (while chambering) and give us a price drop?
Only Gibson knows
Gloss finish, burst bucker pickups, coil splitting, weight relief. All new.
Now that is a fun theoretical to reality mind idea! I like it and good thoughts.
@@216trixie oh, it’s definitely an upgrade from the old studios
NOPE. Insane pricing for what should be an $800 guitar.
That’s a sub 500 dollar guitar.
Because our money is worthless now. A 40k truck is 80k and a 2 bedroom apartment is $2500/mo.
Value of those things didn't increase, the value of your $ decreased.
Everything should be cheaper. That's what recession is. What's your point?
Everything old is old again.. OO wait its a less Les. Lighter and more comfortable to play is spelled Strandberg.
The blueberry burst kinda has me
Sorry, maybe it's me, but aren't almost all gibson Les Paul's re-runs period. They've never really changed except maybe the colors.
Gibson can’t make anything new without a bunch of people complaining and no matter what they do there will be people who complain about price. It’ll take a while for them to overcome QC complaints; lol people still complain about the 70s and 80s
And that’s why we love em!
Why mess with perfection
Rant over.
Gibson is good at tricking people to make a sale.
@@wallofrock6725
Gloss is a “new” feature again, because the new Studio model they released earlier this year had a satin finish.
$1699 for Studio? Do yourself a favor and get a pre-owned Gibson LP Classic, Standard or Traditional for less than this price.
I might be the minority, but i would rather have a tricked-out Epiphone with every cosmetic upgrade in the book over the cheapest Gibson for the same price...
That’s all they can seem to do reissue signature model blah blah blah just a stupid shame
It sucks China makes a better instrument for 20% the price. Plus, the unused used market is flooded with guitars bought during covid.
I will just upgrade it. haha. You nailed it, It's like Harley Davidson with overtones of desperation.🤭😅
