Outdoor cockroaches, like American, brown banded, and smokey brown cockroaches, are not shy about invading our indoor living spaces. These large roaches will infest indoors if there is available food, water, and shelter, and they carry and spread diseases just like their indoor counterparts.
Indoor roaches, like German cockroaches and outdoor roaches like American roaches will require different treatment methods and products to get effective control, so proper identification and inspection is important. Outdoor roaches such as American, brown banded, oriental, and smokey brown roaches, tend to be larger than indoor roaches. Common outdoor roach species are large, with American roaches being the largest at 1.5 inches in length. Indoor roaches, like German roaches, are easier to differentiate as they are much smaller.
When inspecting for outdoor roach activity, take note of any possible entry points. You’ll treat these areas to prevent roaches from coming inside.
To control an outdoor roach infestation, first use an insecticide like Reclaim IT and mix it with an insect growth regulator like Martin’s I.G. Regulator.
For Reclaim, you can use a rate of .33 ounces to 1 ounce of product per 1 gallon of water. For Martin’s I.G. Regulator, use a rate of 2 ounces of product per 1 gallon of water. This solution of Reclaim, I.G. Regulator, and 1 gallon of water will cover 1,000 square feet of treatment area.
Fill a pump sprayer with half a gallon of water and add Reclaim and I.G. Regulator. Close the sprayer, and agitate the solution to ensure an equal distribution. Open it and add the remaining water to the pump sprayer’s 1 gallon fill line. Agitate the solution again, and you’re ready to start.
Apply the Reclaim and IGR solution as a perimeter treatment around your structure’s foundation and fence perimeter. Create a barrier by spraying 3 feet up the structure and 3 feet out. Next, treat the entry points you noted earlier in your inspection. Be sure to spray around doors, windows, openings created by utility pipes, the garage door, and any other openings you may have found.
Once you’ve treated your structure’s perimeter, lay out an insecticide bait like Ficam. Ficam is a granular insecticide that is ready to use, and requires no mixing. To spread Ficam, use a rate of 2 to 4 pounds per thousand square feet of treatment area, or more simply, 3.2 to 6 ounces per 100 square feet.
After you've treated with insecticides, the best way to stop roaches is with exclusionary methods and sanitation.
Repair any broken door and window seals you may have found, and seal cracks and crevices on the interior and exterior with copper mesh and caulk. Pick up wood, bricks, and other large debris that may be laying outdoors, as these are perfect spots for roaches to hide in.
Regularly clean the interior of the structure. Vacuum the floor, and clean the dishes. Take the garbage out daily, and make sure your bins close properly. Do not leave any food or water outside overnight, including pet food. By keeping the structure clean and eliminating food sources, outdoor roaches have less reasons to invade indoor spaces.

Had a big knot hole in a pecan tree in my yard. Decided a nice boston fern might look good there. The hole was full of leaves that needed to be removed before i could place the fern. I reached in for a handful of leaves, and came out with a handful of roaches. There were what seemed to be more than a thousand of them in there. Gives me the willy's every time I relive that story.
I would've died that day. What pissed you to stick *your arm* inside to get the leaves out instead of something else!? I would've used anything but my arm. 😂
IF there any war worth fighting and winning it is against cockroaches of any kind.

Facts, only good roach is a dead one
One hit my face in the middle of the night sounded so heavy thought it was a moth I flicked it off of my bed and heard it hit the ground. A couple minutes later I saw giant roach crawling on the wall I could see it’s black spot on the wall in my dark room. Fucker was quick to use his wings, he was in my bed and on my face earlier without my knowledge
aw hell nahhh
OH GOD!! This story is terror. These things with wings are huge
There's no way I'm gonna read this, I just started and almost dropped my phone 😭😭😭😭😭
I've been told the come in through pipes and toilet...any thoughts ..they are not coming in from outside
These fuckers always come in my room from the garage usually on wall ever since I was a kid but yesterday I was just about to fall asleep and I heard something scratching my pillow so I flipped it over with flash on my phone and BOOM! 🪳 PTSD man
Oh hell naw !!!!
Nah, I have ptsd every time I hear rustling or scratching. Just the other day I heard rustling and that MOFO started flying where I was and started chasing me!!!
@@mekwaymek1054 holy fuck they don’t really fly over here 😩
I live in Florida man. I feel your pain. I legit can’t fall asleep before 3:00 am because whenever I stay up I end up encountering these shitheads in my room. Whenever I try to tell my parents that there is an infestation of them at our house they blow it over as if it’s nothing so I think I might take matters into my own hands. I shouldn’t have to look over my back and lose sleep because of some stupid fucking insect.
@@ali_ve4now this was me man 100% probable a crack or wall and since Florida seems a lil more humid I wouldn’t doubt them wanting to go in to cool off. I live in cali and every summer was bad cause that’s when they’d hit
I've seen those so-call (
indoor) Germany roaches 'outside in the woods. My camping
Backpack had a few in it this morning.
Don’t forget to trim trees/shrubs back to avoid them bridging over the t treatments.
Great. So to get rid of these huge roaches getting into my home I have to spend about 70$ to keep them out. 🤦🏻♀️ I need a cheaper route desperately.
I cut down a palm tree because I saw them nesting in there. After that they cut back but when I water my garden I see them pop up. Are these items plant friendly. This shits posing me off. I purchased the home, but I bet the previous owners were living dirty. After a few years I see less and less damn roaches.
This gave me so much anxiety because of the pictures but still, ty
ok so i live in CA and ya'll don't ship here so any suggestions as to where to purchase this ficam and supreme i/t/?
God why keep putting the pictures up we know what your talking about when u mention what type!
@Temple Garbage Trucks I'm sure she has a few wigs in the closet
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My thoughts exactly 🤣🤣🤣
The reason why I’ve been avoiding watching the vids 😩
🤣🤣🤣 had to look away and only listen
I see 1 or 2 every month indoors
At night is that a sign of infestation?
If they can enter, hide, feed water and nest, you WILL develop an infestation eventually.
But if you can significantly defeat those fault lines you WILL win the perineal roach wars!!
Are their any lower cost alternatives that one can use or products one can make youself?🤔
I heard mint is something they hate so what I’m going to start doing not sure it will work but hey it’s worth a try I’m going to wipe down everything with mint oil I hear it repels them like crazy I encounter them a few times but they are the huge nasty ones that make eye contact with you 🤢🤢🤮🤮😵💫🫠
@@mary-xj9up Roach Motel? They check in but they can't check out.🤮
@@microminiskirt ooh okay thank you I’ll head over to the Home Depot for that!
I have noticed smokey brown roaches evidence in my garage (garage not very cluttered and small). There arent any food/water sources in there. My garage is also not connected to my home and is quite far from the garage. So I'm not worried about them getting in my home. They have recently arrived due to landord having a pile building materials nearby. The pile has since been removed. I would like to enquire what the proper next steps of action would be to take in this case
Hi, thanks for watching! It sounds like what might have potentially brought them has been removed, so that is a good first step. We recommend regularly keeping an eye out for any further activity. If activity continues, try to see if there is anywhere else in or around the garage the roaches could be using for shelter. Also, check for any moisture issues around the building. We'd also recommend using a liquid insecticide, as seen in the video, as a maintenance/preventative spray. If you spray Reclaim IT around the perimeter of the garage, you will kill any foraging roaches and keep them (and many more pests) away for up to 90 days!
@@solutionspestandlawn thank you for the advice. It is truly appreciated.
Someone please help me, i live in a poorly insulated house, i have a lot of easy access areas for these huge roaches to come in and every other night ive had to kill one crawling into the bed with me and my 3 year old. Everything i buy isn't working snd i need something safe for my son to be around. This is getting old and I'm getting no sleep.
Why ask for help on Yiutube instead of calling an exterminator
Have you tried sealing cracks with caulk and foam?
The natural spray "stem" is the best and cheap.....safe for kids & pets 😊.
Nope. I just tried it. I get at LEAST two to three big roaches come into my bedroom at night that I have to kill so I got desperate and sprayed around my walls and bed and still ended up with these fkers in my room. Idk wtf to do. 😩
I am buying these. Thanks
My problem is outdoors. Are your suggested solutions pet friendly?
Sane
Ficam is the only one that looks questionable for pets. The other two just say to keep kids and pets away from treated area until it's dry.
Are these the ones that fly? Cause i live in the woods on a river and OMG!! I don't have them inside. But outside is absolutely horrific and i could film a scary movie scene with them 😂
If i live in california, am i able to purchase this?
I just looked into it and looks like we Californians cannot buy this stuff. I wonder if @Solutions has any recommendations for CA-legal alternatives?
You’ll have to kill them naturally here in California with your flip flop
Any danger to pets?
Yes
Is that powder spread in the grass ok for pets?
Your products looks great. Plan to order soon. I’ve done well with the indoor, (only Smokey’s) but I’ve noted Germans &. Juvenile Smokey’s outside at night on my potted plant leaves and gardens along with snails. Both need control. Costal NC.
I can’t tell if I’m finding baby roach or baby crickets! They have banded legs with black body with no tell tail markings on their backs! I found one Smokey one Pennsylvania wood roach spent all week calking cracks some so bad I could see through to outside! Like why wasn’t this done before they had me move in? Pissed! In a week I have only found these baby bugs I can’t identify. So far I spent 60 dollars on calk, it’s that bad if you really look
There's an app called "Picture Insect" that is helpful and allows you to save the identification by date and species.
Uuh I’ve seen flying German roaches and my whole yard has a lot of them it’s crazy bc I’ve never seen any of that ever since I moved here
Boric acid?!
Well this might sound dumb. lots of wood with cracks. To drive them out I use a hairdryer Dawn dishwashing soap and squirt bottle. I squirt them and watch them die. Yes I enjoy your show
We are dealing with outdoor roaches
I have been having the issue of where I’ve been having roaches coming from my bathroom I have no idea where the roaches are coming from the other day I thought maybe they were coming from my bathtub drain but then I started closing my drain for 2 days but recently today I had just saw one big outdoor cockroach in my room again they come and they go and they specially they come a lot doing fee summer I have a kind of crack opening in the floor by the door it seems to be lifted just due to old age of the house could that be the cause of my problem because or where they’re coming from?
I’ve been wondering the same thing - for the last few years I found one of those hideous large outdoor roaches, the American roach, in my house. They scare me to death they are really smart they are really fast and they can get airborne. Just had one yesterday. I always keep my bathtub drain closed but I wonder if they can also come up the bathroom sink drain and crawl out of the overflow hole. I always keep my doors shut, my screens are all tight. It’s quite a mystery. I hate them! I’m so afraid of them because they’re fast and they’re smart and they come AT you because they know we’re afraid of them. I’m not kidding!
@@TheMaggiemay77 Same happened to me. Yes, turned out to be the overflow opening, like you said. Sealed it with plastic so they couldn’t get in anymore.
I also had a big gap around like pipes under the sink
@@TheMaggiemay77 'DM > yer Cokroch dilemma is exactly same scenario 4 our house. Home is 99% pest secured - drains plugged/ tubs got drain plug. Bath lavs hav h2O in Ptrap w/vinegar or bleach added every so often. Toilets r a possible access point ive learned. Even w/h2O in toilet bowl + Tank filled to float stop depth. I jus discovrd CR egg shell casings dwn inside overfill tube got popped up /out /into tank reservoir othr day. UGH i despise infrequently seeing one of these immortal bugs crawling in BR toilet/sink cabinet/ crawling on toothbrush wen i flick light on at night. If u learn how they gettin into BR even w/all sewer pipe drains sealed..... LMK
You have to seal as many cracks as you can find especially kitchen and bathroom. It's the only way, along with combat max gel. I got rid of them in 1 day doing this.
they have limited predators, eats pretty much everything , live in a calm and secured place along side humans. what else you need in life. roaches are lucky man.
Sheeit now im thinking about using something for my yard..
What if I just use Ficam? Assume if the cockroaches took the bait and brought it to its colony, it will kill all of them in long run.
Hi, thanks for watching! Ficam is a great product, so you're not wrong -- it will help get control in the long run. The problem though is, it's not always possible to eliminate all of a roach's food source (remember when baiting you want to get rid of competing food sources so that they are more likely to take the bait). So when it comes to getting guaranteed and faster control, you want to use multiple products to cover your bases!
How much is it
