When I tried to contact Canopus via phone, I kept getting a message that the person had not set up their voice mail. When they responded via email, they did not answer my questions but referred me to the FDA or CDC sites (no links provided). My questions never got answered. Very frustrating

Placing worn masks in a zip-lock bag for 3 days gives the masks the intubated effect of growing/multiplying more bacteria/virus on the mask. You’d be better if just leaving the mask OUT of the bag & placing it in sunlight for a few days.

Yes, I thoroughly looked into these, the first time I included them in a video, then with some negative comments looked further and all my concerns were quickly and thoroughly responded to by Canopus. I also have put the testing results right in the video, so you can pause the screen to see those. I thought the price was more than fair for an N95 that can be delivered in only quantities of 2, quickly. In my town, many of my friends bought these upon the release of the first video about 5 days ago, and with standard shipping, they already have received their masks. If this company did not deliver, I would have pulled the video. I'm glad you like these masks. As you know, they are not CDC-- but the reasoning of comfort was why, the filter tested better than an N95! Thank you again for helping people.

Hi Rebecca, great review. Over the ear masks are somewhat problematic for those wearing prescription glasses and/or over-the-ear hearing aides. A friend of my daughter has designed a headband with large buttons on either side. Rather than looping the mask over her ears, she simply hooks the mask onto the buttons on the headband. Great solution for all the women out there, but I can’t see myself wearing a hair/headband (no hair to speak of up there...). My daughter works in a nursing home, here in Ottawa, Canada, that thus far has managed to keep Covid-19 out of that residence. Unfortunately, this is not the case elsewhere in the City/Province. Some retirement homes have been hit so badly (residents and staff) that our military health care specialists have been deployed into these homes. Stay safe. Robert

Went to the cdc website to check and see if this foshan company was on the list of approved N95 masks.. and they are NOT!! The mask is actually n95 grade, but is not intended, to be used by health care professionals, which she clearly states! CDC wouldn't approve this design, due to the anchored ear design. Also, her description, states that this her view, in other words, her opinion.
Rebecca Brand regardless I contacted the CDC and let them know of your video and the companies involved such such as the foshan company who made these masks in China. I researched these masks and could not find proof of FDA approval which they claim to be which is false advertising. The CDC emailed me back and are looking into it. Also I commented on Canopus Facebook page about this and posted a screenshot of you video. Others also commented stating they contacted the CDC as well. Because after they looked into it like I did. They also came to the conclusion that these aren’t approved N-95. For all we know they don’t even have the filters in these mask to even be on par with N-95.
NIOSH, FDA, and CDC stated on their websites that it cannot be called N95 if it doesn't have Manufacturer name, Approval number, Model number, and NIOSH logo printed on the mask, and all approved N95s have headbands. The pictures of the facility is the same as the website. You acted like you went to it yourself, since it was nearby.

The TC should be on the mask or headband. If there’s NO TC anywhere on the mask or packaging, IT IS NOT AN NIOSH-APPROVED MASK!
Hey, sorry but I think "3M 8210 N-95" mask is the best out there. his mask has a comfortable, secure fit, and will keep out 95% of particulates over 3 microns in diameter. I have worn the mask in over 100 degree F for 2 to 3 hours at a time and breathing remains easy the entire time.
3 microns is huge when it comes to viruses. Most viruses are not able to be seen using a normal microscope. The larger ones are about 0.5 microns and coronavirus is about 0.125 microns. Masks don't stop you catching coronavirus particularly once they become moist from your breath, but they do stop you coughing and sneezing droplets into the air reducing the chance of others breathing them in. Ordinary etiquette would do the same thing - coughing and sneezing into tissue and then disposing of it and then washing your hands or using an alcohol-based gel.
I appreciate you weighing in your opinion and your experience. The advantage is the comfort and ease of the ear loops rather than over the head... if you watch the video, I explain that.

Masks are indeed important, at least indoors and when close contact is not avoidable. Even an N95 mask doesn't provide complete protection against a virus, the viral particles are so small they can pass through practically anything that can be used to breathe through. What the mask does is reduce the amount of particles an infected person spreads in the environment through breathing. So masks are primarily protecting others from getting infected, not you. If you are at the beginning stages of the sickness, or you are asymptomatic and you don't even know you have the virus, you breathe out about 95% less virus particles in the environment with a mask. But they can be of benefit to you as well. People who get infected with higher amount of virus particles are getting worse symptoms and have a higher chances of a fatal outcome. So it wouldn't save you from getting infected, but it can increase your chances of survival. That's why it's important everyone to ware masks, keep social distancing and wash/disinfect their hands before and after they touch door handles, grocery carts, elevator buttons and anything that could have been touched by someone else in a public place.
These are a necessity in California, why blame her? Can't go anywhere here without wearing a mask! Impossible to find them, she's informed & sharing vital details. I work in a nursing home & I'm reusing masks that SHOULD BE DISPOSED OF! But I'm washing & reusing 'cause FACILITY PROVIDES NOTHING! It's my life at stake. Don't discourage her, she's doing good. Hi, I re use these. One has my makeup inside-- You can hand clean it, but now I put 1/4 of a tissue in it, and that solved that problem, I disinfect only with time and heat-- like in my car on the dash-- or set aside in a sunny window for a day or two---or three -- I rotate them, and that is the easiest way. I bet the company didn't get into it since they don't want to be liable...
I find it interesting that even though most people are wearing masks, the numbers of cases are going up. Do the masks really help since the numbers if both the mask wearers are going up along with the case numbers? Aren't the numbers supposed to go down when we wear masks?

I am not convinced it is spread the way they are saying. So far, we have been given information that is not accurate. We are misinformed on this virus. The numbers a pumped up and it is all for the purpose of instilling fear. Even the tests are not accurate. For something so discombobulated- it certainly isn’t killing the majority who get sick and certainly isn’t worthy of destroying our nation and sanity over something that has to be manipulated just to get numbers to make it seem like a pandemic. There are also cures out there that cost under $200 that some doctors are using and also some nations are using. Cures.
That's a good price for these, I haven't been able to find N95's anywhere.... I think this is a great price -- sometimes we can get great deals on things as a surprise, but can't count on them lasting.... so this is a good way to go as well, to get them at Canopus.

I listened to an interesting talk show as I drove to work Saturday morning. They were talking about the death rate per million for CV19 in Sweden vs the US. I don’t remember the exact numbers, so I rounded them. I remember they were only about 70 deaths per million apart from each other Sweden vs US. It was like 290 deaths per million for Sweden and 220 deaths per million for the United States. Sweden didn’t do much in response to the virus. They inherently socially distanced, did a lot of work from home and limited get togethers to 50. They’re known for their herd mentality approach. They didn’t close businesses of any kind I don’t think. They are still suffering from loss of business per business, but that’s not due to lockdowns or closings because they didn’t impose that. So, the question is, is it worth going to the extent that we did? Personally, I don’t think so. I do think that per the statistics, those with health issues, people over 70 and people under a certain age should be kept away from the mainstream. I think masks are a good idea as well as socially distancing, keeping good hygiene and sanitizing etc. Basically, do everything possible to contain it, but don’t shut the country and economy down. I practice social distancing and extra healthy hygiene during every cold and flu season every year anyway. It works. I won’t go to a buffet style restaurant from October through May regardless of type.

These do not appear to be N95 Respirators, they appear to be manufactured to the Chinese KN95 standard. I would think claiming otherwise is fraud.

Washing it will take away 25% of effectiveness, but you can.
These are a decent stop/gap measure for low risk environments and maintaining a 6 Ft+ distance.

If you are at the beginning stages of the sickness, or you are asymptomatic and you don't even know you have the virus, you breathe out about 95% less virus particles in the environment with a mask. But they can be of benefit to you as well. People who get infected with higher amount of virus particles are getting worse symptoms and have a higher chances of a fatal outcome. So it wouldn't save you from getting infected, but it can increase your chances of survival. That's why it's important everyone to ware masks, keep social distancing and wash/disinfect their hands before and after they touch door handles, grocery carts, elevator buttons and anything that could have been touched by someone else in a public place.

I work in a nursing home & I'm reusing masks that SHOULD BE DISPOSED OF! But I'm washing & reusing 'cause FACILITY PROVIDES NOTHING! It's my life at stake. Don't discourage her, she's doing good. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HELP?
it states that these masks are washable ... is this true and how do you recommend doing that?
They lose 25% of their efficacy... I hand scrub out my lipstick marks.

Thanks for the suggestion, Rebecca! I bought a couple of these masks for my folks. Did you disinfect them the first time you wore them out? Also, I asked the company how to clean and disinfect but got a pretty vague answer. Do you reuse these a couple more times or toss after the first time? Thanks, and stay safe!
Hi, I re use these. One has my makeup inside-- You can hand clean it, but now I put 1/4 of a tissue in it, and that solved that problem, I disinfect only with time and heat-- like in my car on the dash-- or set aside in a sunny window for a day or two---or three -- I rotate them, and that is the easiest way. I bet the company didn't get into it since they don't want to be liable...

I find it interesting that even though most people are wearing masks, the numbers of cases are going up. Do the masks really help since the numbers if both the mask wearers are going up along with the case numbers? Aren't the numbers supposed to go down when we wear masks?

I am not convinced it is spread the way they are saying. So far, we have been given information that is not accurate. We are misinformed on this virus. The numbers a pumped up and it is all for the purpose of instilling fear. Even the tests are not accurate. For something so discombobulated- it certainly isn’t killing the majority who get sick and certainly isn’t worthy of destroying our nation and sanity over something that has to be manipulated just to get numbers to make it seem like a pandemic. There are also cures out there that cost under $200 that some doctors are using and also some nations are using. Cures.

I found these same N95 mask at Ace Hardware store two for $9.99.
I hope you got more than just those 2. 4 for $20 would have been a good buy as well.

That's a good price for these, I haven't been able to find N95's anywhere.... I think this is a great price -- sometimes we can get great deals on things as a surprise, but can't count on them lasting.... so this is a good way to go as well, to get them at Canopus.

I listened to an interesting talk show as I drove to work Saturday morning. They were talking about the death rate per million for CV19 in Sweden vs the US. I don’t remember the exact numbers, so I rounded them. I remember they were only about 70 deaths per million apart from each other Sweden vs US. It was like 290 deaths per million for Sweden and 220 deaths per million for the United States. Sweden didn’t do much in response to the virus. They inherently socially distanced, did a lot of work from home and limited get togethers to 50. They’re known for their herd mentality approach. They didn’t close businesses of any kind I don’t think. They are still suffering from loss of business per business, but that’s not due to lockdowns or closings because they didn’t impose that. So, the question is, is it worth going to the extent that we did? Personally, I don’t think so. I do think that per the statistics, those with health issues, people over 70 and people under a certain age should be kept away from the mainstream. I think masks are a good idea as well as socially distancing, keeping good hygiene and sanitizing etc. Basically, do everything possible to contain it, but don’t shut the country and economy down. I practice social distancing and extra healthy hygiene during every cold and flu season every year anyway. It works. I won’t go to a buffet style restaurant from October through May regardless of type.
