"My Baby Huey, such a sweet child, smart as can be, he's gentle and mild, he grew awfully fast, he's something to see. He's 2 years of age and looks just like me".
🎶My baby Huey, such a sweet child. Smart as can be, he's gentle and mild. He grew awfully fast, he's something to see. Just two years of age, and looks just like me.🎵🎵
Gilbert "Papa" Duck appeared in only two Famous Studios cartoons with his famous son, but became more prominent in the Baby Huey comics and the 1994 Huey cartoons.
Oh, so his grumpy dad DID exist before the Bob Jaques cartoon reboot. I thought he was an OC they created for the sake of having more story variety in the 90s cartoon. XD
Yep, this cartoon and Huey's Father's Day were Baby Huey's dad's only two appearances in the Golden Age of Animation. The rest were either in comics or indeed the 90s cartoon.
I guess at this time Paramount looked more at the comic books Harvey made with their characters. This time, instead of the usual Fox vs. Huey plot, they had a story with Poppa, whom I'd already read about in comic book stories.
More like it ripped the gag from 'No Sail', since that short was released 8 years before 'Huey's Ducky Daddy', and the fact Famous Studios was partly infamous for making that a studio-practice (Herman and Katnip cashing in on Tom and Jerry being another example).
I used to watch this cartoon when I was a little girl in the 70's. And now that I'm in my late 60's I would not let any child watch this cartoon, or any cartoon that has violence, abuse or cruelty .👎
Here's what I don't get, Huey's papa seems to hate his own son, but towards the end, gets upset when he sees his son taken by the whale. Why? Huey's father seems like a jerk in this episode.
My own father often got annoyed by my antics, but all the same he still loves me. That's just how most parents are. No matter how much you upset them, they'll still love you.

This episode has the best animation ever in history

The name's Hubert not Gilbert.
"Huey my angel come back to papa" dialogue brought tears to my eyes.

Funny how worked up Gilbert got and then felt bad when Huey got taken by the whale.
Interesting calling him angel.
I think his name was Hubert.

Huey's Ducky Daddy doesn't seem to be enjoying his fatherhood. :P
Yeah...Poor Father Duck! He needs parental counseling.
Despite slapping Baby Huey, Daddy loves him and is protective of him.
Shark fin gag later used in no sail with donald and goofy.

"Not in the head, Papa! You wanna make me crazy?"
The other ducklings think he already is.
This gag also used in Pest Pupil
@@gabrieldjatienza6971Albeit deleted scene.
5:59 best ending ever
Huey’s papa is Scottish? Boy they don’t make cartoons like this anymore don’t they?
He sounds more Irish to me.
What a shame Huey has such a mean Papa........
At least he doesn’t hate Huey,he just wants to fish alone, but forced to take Huey with him and at least he showed sympathy for Huey.
“Not in the head papa”......
5:16 oh my gosh that looks like something you'd see in Theodore tugboat 😃
Penny Penguin was no better. Got Daddy Penguin in so many fixes.

Fish use Hydro Pump on his Hubert's face at 1:39! It's super effective!

How come Huey's Dad speaks with an Irish brogue? He would go to jail for child abuse today , lol!
😂😂😂
5:15-5:21-A little Fleischer humour.
Why is Huey's father Irish?
andreas99100 was he suppose to be Irish in the comics? With huey, I though he came from a Dutch background?
This is the first cartoon introduced Huey's Father, Hubert. Only one time he speaks with an Irish accent!
Because he's from Ireland! :D
Incidentally, Scrooge McDuck was Scottish!

"Thar she blows!"
It's full, not deleted.
I wish I had a baby like HUEY
Cool! A whale! I hope Huey decides to toss him back.

And give up all that publicity? Are you kidding?
Where did you see that quote? Which scene?
@@durece100 Actually, that was another comment he was replying to.
@@karmapunch3410 What do you mean?
Gilbert at bottom of the sea: Oh why did I ever leave the IRA?
I promised my papa I will be a real good boy.

OMG HIS DAD HAS A SHORT TEMPER! WHERE'S DCF WHEN U NEED THEM MOST? LOL
" Esse é meu filho".
His daddy is mean :-/
At least his daddy realized how special Huey was in the end :-)
Father Duck has serious issues with Huey.
